What the original house looked like. Post from two years ago from original owner.
Listed for almost $10 million two years ago
Another post about it from 2 years ago, $1 million price reduction
The original owner bought it in 1991 for $510k, sold in 2012 $1.8 million.. Now new owners are desperately trying to unload....whatever this is.
Plus they own another massive house in Edmonton and pay $44k/year in property taxes. So for 2 houses it's almost $100k in tax.
The inside looks like a 1980s convention centre.
Or airport.
That arch ceiling reminded me of a concourse in an airport. The whole thing is just so sterile looking. Not warm and friendly at all.
Classic mis-directed wealth in search of taste or opulence or...something.
My first thought was mega-church.
Haha I thought exactly the same. Ive been to depressing work events at places that look like this
They turned a beautiful piece of architecture into a new car showroom.
wow. that's astonishingly awful. I thought the outside was kind of cool, in this freaky-weird sort of way. but the inside is not even interestingly awful. it's just drab and repetitive, like they didn't even have any ideas once it came time to uh ... populate? the interior and all the different rooms. "I dunno, just put in some general stuff, I suppose." it's like 1980's middlebrow in there among all the marble.
reminds me of the Woody Allen movie sleeper. that shower/hot tub confabulation made me blurt coffee looks like the Orgasmatron.
the trees front and back are the best parts, though. and even then they made it awful. one tree in front and one tree in back, and kinda-sorta a tree and a tree either side ... landscaping done."
The perfect example is whatever the hell the modular shower thing is in every bathroom. Seems so lazy and uninspired.
oh, it's more than one bathroom? I started to wonder if the realtor was having a stroke and just uploaded the same set of rooms five or six times.
I loved the floor plan though. I honestly lol'd at 3:47 am, at all those dead little interior space pockets that they just labelled "room". like, this design is that bad. it's left chunks of pure-garbage space just lying around that are so pointless they can't even come up with a fanciful label for them.
The purple cabinets are absolutely hilarious! It's like a movie theater birthday rental room
yes!!
Funeral Home gauche featuring transition pods from The Fly
I’d consider it but just not enough pot lights for me /s
This is why I’m rethinking recessed lighting. Looks like a runway
Nothing worse than millionaires trying to live like billionaires.
18,000 feet on one acre. Oof. Saleproof after you go inside.
I'm to that age where anything "modern" is "awful". I have to keep reminding myself that people are allowed to build whatever they want. However, tearing down something beautiful to build something awful is why we have a limited supply of beautiful old buildings is most major cities.
THREE kitchens? WTF
The whole thing gives "boutique hotel" vibes, especially the giant bar and the back-to-back half-baths
It looks nice on the outside - the first picture even made it appear normal-sized, sort of. But that interior... pretty good for a museum of modern arts, but nothing like a home.
I'd like a word with whoever designed that carpet, and with whoever chose it. Looks like a dusty old asphalt country road with poorly repaired cracks.
When I saw the outside I thought it was a daycare. When I saw the inside I realized it's actually the office of a boutique plastic surgeon.
I was going to say that it gave me the vibe of a dentist’s office, but boutique plastic surgeon really hits the nail on the head!
Look how they massacred my boy.
Since this is a definite tear down for anyone other than the lunatic who designed it, their best bet might just be to list it for $1, since anyone who buys it will have massive initial costs that probably offset the value of the land, even in a place as expensive as Victoria.
The outside looks like it could be salvaged but that inside is horrendous.
Normally you want to give the benefit of the doubt to purple kitchen cabinets. But this…
That’s not a house. That’s an upscale mall showroom.
It reminds me of the kind of place a cult would buy to have their compound
Wow is this ugly!
Why do so many doors have a keypad lock? Like there's a keypad lock on the door to at least two bathrooms? Is this supposed to be a Safeway?
It looks like someone wanted their prison to be super fancy
There's a castle next door. So they thought it'd be OK. 🏰🤷🏾♂️
Like a milquetoast conference center in the Midwest somewhere
That was painful to look at
Man, even a ghost would think twice about haunting that hangar.
How many kitchens????
It’s giving sister wives dream home
Soooo ugly
Omg, why are there a billion lights??
The disco ball 😭
Sometimes I'm happy to see someone lose their shirt.
So lifeless looking.
That is awful.
Why did they get rid of all the greenery?
House is so ugly, but man big lot in a great area…
Mmmm… Cozy. /s
If I had that kind of money, I’d much rather be in North Saanich. Anyway, you Canadians have some odd tastes. Someone who wants to escape Calgary’s winters will buy this to retire to.
why yes, yes we do
👆 see? as you point out your own self 👆
