Guys plz help me, I've been searching and searching for a (fall ceiling)

Guys, there's a beam sticking out in the middle of the living room like this. The height is a bit low, so I need an idea for a fall ceiling to cover this beam, a beam design. The design shouldn't go below the beam; I need a fall ceiling idea that covers the beam and has a small design above the beam. Help, please!

  • Paint it to look like an old wooden beam

  • Box it with hardwood so it looks like a wooden beam.

Not real wood of course. Laminate will still be classy, but cheaper.

I assume someone building a mcmansion can afford a dozen or so board feet of hardwood no problem.

It would probably be $100-400 worth of wood depending on the type to cover that.

Or even less if they used maple which would still look nice. Or even a nicer soft wood. Cedar is good, and takes a burn nicely if you want to go shou sugi ban style.

  • I would put bulkheads on all the walls and do two sections of cove lighting

  • Add more and do a coffer ceiling.
