Girl Jaw! here with my 4 month update.

While my FME is expanding perfectly, it was placed at a slight angle, so I am getting some asymmetrical expansion.

Dr. Newaz and I were stumped as to why the CBCT scans were showing symmetry, but in person wasn’t. After spending some time analyzing the CBCT scans, we realized that aligning my image to my cervical spine showed the asymmetries that I am experiencing IRL. It’s an interesting consideration that I am now exploring further.

In the interim, Dr. Newaz will take off my FME device to prevent further asymmetries. We will let it relapse naturally while simultaneously utilizing the space currently created to try and fix my midline. I have a wedding in November, so we are trying to make my smile photo ready for then.

After my wedding, we will put the FME back on. Through observation of my crooked midpalatal suture line (due to my midline discrepancy), it is my theory that correcting the midline will help symmetrical placement of my next FME.

  • I'm a bit confused, was it placed at an angle unintentionally or due to your midline suture being at an angle as well? Was this on newaz or on facegenics' virtual planning

fwiw, my midline suture angles at roughly 4-5 degrees off the midline of my face to the right, so I suspect I'd be the same as yourself, very curious how this occurred for that reason

Wow, so interesting that you have this too!

In my FME install video, Dr. Newaz stated that it’s slightly angled, but mentions that because the CBCT scan showed symmetry, it would open up symmetrically. I couldn’t understand how that would be the case, but trusted the scans and Newaz.

I wouldn’t say that this is on Newaz or Facegenics, as both Manuele and Shuikai see the same “symmetry” on my scans. Manuele said it’s a great expansion and Shuikai seems to think it’s all in my head.

The reality is the FME is on crooked and my expansion is asymmetrical. It’s observable and it’s fact.

What Newaz and I discovered during my last consult is that everyone might be lining up the bony sutures in my scan so that everything “appears” symmetrical. If you start aligning my scan to my neck, or start considering the position of my head, the asymmetries begin to show.

I would send Dr. Newaz Shuikais superimpositions lol

    I did.

    Post them here UARSnew
