My favorite part of the homerun derby this past year was listing to our Woo and Munoz speak about how they followed Randy's example and did what he said as he took the lead on cheerleading duties and and went all out hyping up Cal. Thinking about our Big Dumper out there with an organized support crew brings a smile to my face. No one told him he had to do that, but that's just the kind of teammate Randy is. That kind of stuff doesn't show up in metrics or advanced data but it super duper matters. It's not in Randy's contract that he has to bust his ass bonding the entire team together, but he is out there like a man on a mission. I'm going to be real sad when his contract runs out and he leaves us.
Clutch, kills lefties, and a GREAT locker room guy. When he retires, he has GM written all over him. As a Sox fan, I will also miss him, but rooting for him in Seattle!
I’m still pissed that Nintendo cancelled the GameCube version without Griffey, but used Dave and Rick for commentary (and possibly Ron Fairly). All the audio is in an archive at Nintendo… it would be fun use Rick and maybe some AI (with Dave’s estate’s permission) to build a new baseball game with good commentary, for once.
