Picking up Naylor at the deadline :P

All joking aside the Leo Rivas walk off homer will always hold a special place in my heart

  • The dude with the t-shirt catching Cal’s HR then changing his shirt in preparation for the next one.

The odds of that happening in an opposing city with an opposing team and an opposing fan was astronomical.

I’ll think about that moment every day for the rest of my life.

It felt scripted, except that it would be cut from anything other than a Super Bowl ad for being too corny and unrealistic

It’s going in the next chapter of the Secret Base documentary - the one that ends with the Ms beating the Seattle Pilots Milwaukee Brewers in the world series.

It felt so improbable that there was like a 1% chance in my brain that he was a time traveler

It was such a surreal moment. I love that even the surrounding Tigers fans were just as bewildered, smiling and applauding him lol

  • Victor Robles catch in Houston or Polo’s ALDS walk off

I watched that from my phone while sitting in the outfield waiting for the Bananas game to start. I'll never forget it!

  • Being at game 5 of the ALDS with my dad

  • Leo Rivas what have you done

I instantly hear Goldy's voice whenever I see this. What an epic moment! I get goosebumps just thinking of it.

Rivas too but that pinch hit left field in playoffs

I loved this because I was watching the game with my buddy who’s a Cardinals fan and he was so disappointed. I also really needed to go to sleep, so it was a great way to end the night.

  • Humpy winning the second salmon race in the 15-inning game against Detroit.

  • Naylor's bases clearing double against colorado

"Into the gap! It touches down!!" Goldy is so good

I can picture him screaming at second with the lights going … chills!

Ok this just gave me chills.

Also the fan with the Naylor jersey losing his mind after this. Made me so happy

This was my favorite too! Just moved to the area this year and finally made it out to my first Mariners game. Being down to the Rockies was not great up to that point but the stadium absolutely exploded with that double and was so hype when Muñoz came out.

Bought myself a Naylor jersey a couple weeks later!

  • To Name a few:

    Getting Naylor this summer

    Cal’s 60 HR

“Might as well win the whole fucking thing”

Extending Naylor for $92.5 million/5 years

    Ichiro getting his number retired

Ichiro quoting his favorite philosopher, George Kenneth Griffey Jr

  • The notification on my phone that we got Josh Naylor.

I will always love the day he re-signed with us the day the hawks lost their game because that made the hawks loss better! Then we found out the amount and I said “holy shit, that’s how much we extended Naylor for?”

  • Polanco walking off the Tigers in ALDS Game 5 or Geno's Grand Slam in Game 5 of the ALCS.

  • JP walkoff vs the rangers

I was at this game and it is the best game I’ve ever attended

My cousin said “will they have Jp bunt or let him hit into a dp” im like “he’s gonna hit a hr” then a few minutes later, walk off hr lmao

It was crazy cause both dom and jp got hits off a lhp

  • Seeing Naylor go from stoic grumpy to happy grumpy.

  • Cubs series when Cal went off: That was the moment I realized Cal was truly doing something special that year.

Robles insane catch out of nowhere to beat the Astros: I had no doubt after that play and win, we were winning the AL West.

sweeping the asstros in houston was so satisfying

Especially because it knocked them out of the playoffs (the series we swept them started their trajectory from likely being in to missing the cut).

I was in Chicago for the 14-6 win and it was awesome.

  • Robles game ending catch and double play to devastate the Astros.

This was the moment for me. As soon as the ball was hit in my head I was thinking “oh no here we go again”. How many times in the past has a game unraveled? Robles flying in across the screen to drive a dagger into the hearts of all the Trashtro fans was so glorious.

  • Geno’s salami in game 5 because I drove 11 hours for it last minute. Questioned my decision for about 10.5 hours of that drive. Probably one of the best memories I have as of now.

  • Geno’s grand salami in the ALCS. That was unreal to experience in person. I’m gonna miss Geno :(

Oh, also Robles’s game saving catch against the trashtros

  • The Braves series that started it all

  • Cal No. 60. Almost 50k people chanting "MVP" in unison and he actually did it, fucking unreal. This is coming from someone who also was there for the Leo walkoff, Polo walkoff, and Geno grand slam.

  • There's been a lot of amazing ones, especially in the playoffs, but I can't stop thinking about Cal hitting 60

I just watched the replay of that game because im starved for baseball, and that moment was incredible

  • Was fortunate to be there more many of these and Cal launching #60 was probably my favorite, though Geno’s Grand Slam was the most exciting.

  • I will never forget this. I was changing my 19-day old daughters diaper when he hit it

  • Cal Home Run Derby win… and associated “Im the home run derby champ” video Sweeping the Astros in their park, basically knocking them out of the playoffs-knowing their fans’ last home game of the season was a big “L” to the Mariners. Was at the game with my son when Rivas walked it off with a dinger. It was Pearl Jam jacket night, celebrated with a Seattle Dog. Being in Hawaii in a restaurant… and the 3-4 tables that cheered SO Loud when Polanco walked it off against Detroit… apparently my wife and I weren’t the only ones tracking that game. Signing Naylor AND Geno for the stretch. Finally felt like the top brass was finally serious about winning. A feeling that’s carrying over to the upcoming season.

  • Being at Ichiro’s number retirement ceremony. Him talking directly to the players and telling them they had a special team just gave me goosebumps. And then the energy in the stadium when Julio hit his first home run that day.

  • There was a stretch where Ben Williamson was just dazzling us every game for almost a week despite the games not going our way. Made me hopeful for the future

  • Geno Grand Slam. Game 5 ALCS. Mainly because I was there with my kid.

  • Robles Superman catch turned into double play to seal the sweep in Houston. Felt like David killing Goliath and it definitely felt like we clinched the division that day. That one catch/play felt like the end of our pain, and a turning of the tide for the entire organization. One of my favorite Mariner memories in my lifetime, and I'm pretty old

  • I grew up in Seattle in the 1980s and the idea that the Mariners will always be the team they were then is lodged deep in my unconscious mind and will never be extracted. As such, I feel unsettled when the team does well and a warm sense of coziness when they grotesquely fail in stupid, stupid ways.

I love the Mariners, but experiencing a pointlessly humiliating Mariners loss makes me feel like I'm coming home, coming home from school to watch Disney afternoon and play NES games with my neighborhood friends, it makes me feel like my back doesn't ache all the time, it makes me feel like a little kid chasing down the ice cream truck to buy firecracker popsicles. It makes me feel like I'll never ever ever have to worry about jobs and stuff, at least not for a decade or more.

    therefore: ALCS game 7.

How much do you pay the dominatrix to spit in your mouth?

Depends on where I am. It's very expensive right behind home plate but a bit less out in the bleachers.

  • Being at games makes things way cooler and more memorable for me. Cal’s HR 59 sailed over my head and 60 landed about 6 rows in front of me. I think that’s a top 3 Mariners memory for me.

  • And Goldy's call on that: Leo what have you done?!?!

  • Naylor stealing third against Detroit was insane. Just bonkers when watching the replay again

  • Victor Robles diving/flying catch against the astros

  • Watching the loud speaker guy finally getting his stuff wrecked n told to stfu

  • Drilling Springer in the knee

  • So many awesome moments in games, but I have a soft spot for that video of Bryan Woo telling his parents he was an All Star. It was so, so fun to watch him take that next step this year. And as far as pitching goes, Bryce shocking everyone with that first game of the ALCS was amazing.

  • Rowdy Tellez extra-inning grand slam on April 19.

My daughter was born April 1st, I was changing a very large dirty diaper during the at bad, was not watching when he made contact. But I whipped my head and saw it land in the right field seats. I'll never forget it

  • Sitting through (well we were mostly standing the entire game) 15 innings against the Tigers and winning! The stadium was packed. The energy was incredible! I’ll carry that experience with me for life!

  • It might seem obvious, but Polanco's hit in Game 5 of the ALDS... At the start of the season, I didn't expect the team to make the playoffs. It was a tough series against Detroit, and many times I thought we were going to lose that Game 5. That hit almost made me cry, seeing Mariners reach ALCS and dreaming of the first World Series in club history was incredible

  • For some reason, the playoff moment that's clearest in my mind was Geno cutting down the runner at home in the 15 inning game. Not a spectacular play, but the biggest oh shit to hell yeah swing of the game.
