Yo I'm confused about 2 things that got revealed in the last episode concerning the whole timeline:

1: Bettys husband said, the first time Mare visited them, that the camera didn't work. Only at the second visit the camera worked. So why did it still film Ryan getting the gun?

2: Bettys husband says that AFTER Bettys death stuff is disappearing in the house, but Ryan took and brought back the gun way before Bettys death, no?

Probably I misunderstood something but would be cool if somebody could clear that up for me.

  • I think it filmed him returning the gun and the stuff missing i think could be a sign of early dementia

i just watched the episode and it clearly shows how he puts the gun in his pocket/jeans after exiting the barn. the stuff missing could well be dementia but he explicitly mentions the gun in that sentence and that must have been missing way before his wife died, but he still could have mixed that up due to dementia. still kinda weird, i think i missunderstood stomething

Really? I'll have to rematch that's crazy

maybe i have early dementia idk but it definitely put me off while watching

Doesn’t it also specify that Ryan puts it back shortly after the shooting?

  • I thought maybe the camera was working, but they hadn't figured out how to access the footage yet. Seemed possible with older folks figuring out tech.

    thats definitely possible yeah

  • I just finished the season fornthe first time.

When Mare goes to the house due to the stocking incident, the camera isn't working.  The older man says he will get the camera working.

He does get the camera working by that night.  When Mare goes over due to the vandalism incident we know the camera is working, we just don't know when.

In the final episode, Mare checks the camera and sees Ryan stealing the gun at 1143 PM.

So the camera didn't work on the night on Jan 9, during the prowling, but did get fixed by the next day.

The older man has some memory/cognitive issues.  The gun was legitimately missing, but the coffee cup and pizza slicer are just signs of dementia and/or grief related.

I guess I don’t get how the old man even knew the gun was gone. Wasn’t the gun stolen and returned all in the same night?

He got the gun the morning his wife saw the prowler. He implies that he put the gun back sometime during the day. Then he hears a noise, probably the kid getting the gun, so he goes to retrieve the gun and realizes it is gone. Scene

  • My take on number 2 is since his wife died stuff has been disappearing bc he’s deteriorating mentally, and then that connects to him remembering how the gun had been missing and maybe he gets the timeline mixed up bc he’s deteriorating
