Huge fan. Different vibes but very consistent. The story telling is great. I am maybe reading into it being amazing too much because my regularly scheduled shows don’t air right now and won’t for eternity (Yellowjackets/ true detective)
Task is similar to how the writer of the show focuses on the weird & interesting traits of its characters & their relationships, but Kate Winslet's "Mare" was a more striking & clever protagonist than the bumbling FBI agent that Mark Ruffalo plays in Task. You'll probably enjoy this slow-burn, but might notice that it's not as deeply developed and layered as Mare.
Not really fair to compare Mare to Tom (Ruffalo) since he's not really the lead character, more of a Co-lead if even that. I'd say Tom Pelphrey is the lead as Robbie but it very intentionally splits the time between cops and criminals
I started Task last week. Binged the 5 episodes to get caught up and learned that Mare of Easttown came from the same team. I started MOE yesterday and binged all 7 episodes haha. Both have been very fun to watch, but Task's story isn't done yet so tough to compare. Curious to know where Task goes, especially now that I've seen Mare was so unpredictable at the end.
It doesn't hook me as much as MoE which I was surprised by as it's more my style than Mare - but I guess i'm holding it to a high bar in terms of story/plot twists etc
I watched Task first, which led me to Mare. They're similiar in that the character writing shines more than any other shows I've seen on TV, except maybe Thrones. Mare was a bit more gripping because of the whodunnit, but Task has a bit of that also. I would say Task is a bit slower paced, but same great writing.
The storytelling and acting in both shows are amazing! These are very moving shows and they really pull you in emotionally. I think Task was better if you love an action thriller.
It's not as good as Mare but Mare was a 10/10 show.
It's definitely better than 99% of the other crap you could be wasting your time on. Watch it.
People saying it's not as good as Mare like it's some kind of insult lol. It's a good fucking show.
This
I disagree I think it might even be better than mare
It’s great! I might like it even more than Mare… 😱
Personally think it’s better than Mare, but still hasn’t concluded yet, so it could go south.

I agree! I lose momentum having to wait an entire week between each episode

Epsiode 5 was fantastic. Edge of my seat
That whole episode was like the epitome of “reaching boiling point”.

Where can I watch it?

It’s excellent! I loved Mare, but this is just as good. Tom Pelphrey is so talented - his performance is award-worthy.

It’s a great show. Sad next week is the finale!

the characters on mare are so much more fleshed out and human compared to task, which outside of the two leads, is kind of forgettable.
I couldn't even finish the first episode. It was so boring

Task is 9 out of 10. Mare is 10 out of 10.
Task is better than Mare
