I'm in the market for a new suitcase, and I'm debating between two Briggs & Riley collections: the Baseline and Sympatico. I’ve narrowed it down to these two, but I’m not sure which one would be better.
I’m wondering which one is more durable, as well as which one feels better in terms of weight and overall design. I’m also torn between getting the medium or large size, so if anyone has thoughts on which size is more practical for travel, I’d love to hear them.
Lastly, any recommendations on the carry-on versions of both collections? I would mainly use it for work trips or short vacations. I currently have a travel pro which has done well but want something better.

Baseline, as a soft bag, will likely be more durable in the long term. This is because less rigidity means it can better absorb force. Also more flexible, literally, as you can slightly overpack without issue.
My girlfriend has two of the Sympaticos, including a larger one, and I have a 20 year old Baseline carryon. If I were buying today I would buy the Baseline again. It's just the perfect carryon. Two wheels, not four.
Both feel great, though. Their warranty is great in my experience.
Thanks for the info! Yea my wife wants to get a Sympactico checked bagged and I was thinking the baseline. I know I’ll for sure get a baseline carryon tho.
For the large bag has your girlfriend hand any issues on escalators or moving it around? I read a comment that the large checked might be hard to maneuver compared to the medium?
Based on other posts in this sub, the Baseline carryon is better constructed but they’re both great. I’d personally get the Sympatico because it weighs less and I want a luggage lock and hard shell.
I’m not sure the terminology, but if you mean the Briggs and Riley expandable they are awesome. I have the carry-on and medium. Both hold so much with the expansion system.
As far as sizes, I would not get the large. Unless you are not getting something expandable or don’t plan to use that feature. When I fill the medium and use the expansion feature it’s always close to 50 lbs and the large would easily exceed that.
