Edit: That should say Venture Sling

I think generally what I want will fit in a 6, but I always carry a 1L Owala water bottle with me and would like to continue doing so even as I downsize from a messenger bag to a sling back for every day when I don't need a laptop.

List of things I'll be carrying:

32oz water bottle

ayn thor

kobo libra color 2

iphone

air pods

wallet

potentially sunglasses

then random bits like chapstick, a tiny first aid kit, a multi tool, maybe a small bluetooth speaker, protein bar, etc.

If it weren't for the water bottle I know I could get away with the 6L but i'm not sure it would fit with everything else. anyone have both who could judge?

  • This is my 9l which holds a 24oz Owala. A 6l will definitely limit the size of water bottle that it can house.

If I need to carry a larger water bottle, I find that I would need a vertical sling like the Pacsafe X.

  • Bellroy runs small, especially for their slings.

Go with 9 just to be safe.

  • I have the 6l and it's equivalent of a 3l-4l from other brands

  • For an Owala that long, how about the Kargo Loculus in X-pac? I have two and love them!

are you sure you don't want to recommend a toshi lol

😁 Are you so proud of me?!

Honestly, I would have...but I don't think the 32-ounce Owala will fit in the bottom. Definitely a 24-ounce does!

Have you tried a 32 in the Loculus? I love the look of the loculus (also available in orange/rust/bronze, the greatest) but the main pouch is only 3.5" wide which I think may actually be smaller than the diameter of the 32 oz (or very close to it)

Just tried the 32-ounce. It fits well but may impact how much can go in the interior and exterior zip pockets. There are about two inches from the top of the lid to the side of the Loculus, and about 2.5 inches from the bottle to the top of the bag.

The 24-ounce fits really well and probably won't have to share that space much!

My favorite travel bottle is the Owala Twist, which is only 2.8 inches wide. It's awesome!

Alright, maybe I'll just downsize and get an owala twist. i do love the freesip tops. i don't want to get a much bigger sling just to carry a water bottle - the point is i'm trying to downsize!

The Twist comes in an 18-ounce size that is perfect for travel. Or the 24-ounce is awesome, if you'll have a harder time to find places to fill it up.

I wish they made the size and width of the Twist, but still with the pop-top hinge of the regular FreeSip. I love that spout but would prefer to not...twist. But the bottle is otherwise awesome, and I don't mind twisting every now and then on trips!

The 18-ounce Twist fits in the 6L Toshi, so I shall now recommend that as well. 😁

  • A sling is going to dig into your shoulder with that sort of weight.
