This is more of a millenial take on boomers i think.
Deffinatley was a thing when I was growing up. Dad made me throw away all my toys when I turned 11, some of which later turned out to he valuable too. Reading fiction waa considered for children by many adults at that time.
No it's not. Boomers will also argue fiction is for everyone. That generation is responsible for popularizing and/or even inventing the past 70 years of fiction writing.
Quit blaming everything bad on boomers and use your brain for once.
While fiction is for everyone, people really need to understand when they don't enjoy something anymore, it dosen't necessarily mean thing is now bad (or 'woke' like the cool kids say nowadays) but they maybe grew out of it.
That's sort of true but it's because statistically only women read anymore anyways. But also that shouldn't be a problem because the majority of books have always been genre slop. There are plenty of niche authors writing new books that could appeal to anyone.
I have a relative that still thinks fiction, animation and video games are only for children and I’m in the minority for being an adult that still likes them XD
This is complicated, because I can somewhat understand the point of the post considering the sub we talked about. It is known that many who are part of generation Z and Alpha do not tend to look favorably on millennials or early Gen-Z due to their taste in animation, video games and more. Of course, you have to understand the context and that is that many of what they consider fashionable video games are Fortnite or Roblox and the animation that is used as a reference is usually shit from YouTube kids or truly children's things. We can talk about a quality issue or how many of these kids tend to continue to be raised heavily under the influence of Boomers/Gen X
Of course, I don't deny it, but I was mentioning a specific type of example of how many late GenZ and Gen Alpha look at animation or video games as something merely childish.
While I haven't seen people call fiction itself for kids, a lot of older folks (and teens trying to be mature) will call any sort of animated media for kids. Hell, I've seen people call corloful things childish.
If you say „it’s been considered that way for ages“ that implies you also think that way and are defending that analogy. It’s just that way. I can’t prove it to you and you won’t listen anyways but that’s all I can say
No a lot of people say cartoons, video games, movies, and fiction in general are for children. I've personally had people tell me this, too. Some people genuinely think when you turn adult you're only supposed to read nonfiction biographies and never watch or play visual media outside of the News.
If it was something like "fiction doesn't teach you anything bla bla bla" I would even understand (because there are a lot of people who think you have to read books about world war to be intelligent) but fiction for children? This is new
People definitely have this opinion but it's more of a boomer thing
Yeah, but the sentiment is still quite present for the sci-fi and fantasy genres
So they think adults don't read books or watch movies? Never met anyone with this opinion.
Besides, vast majority of popular fiction across history has been created by adults for adults so...
"I've never experienced something so clearly it's not real" is that what you're saying? If not what's the point of this comment?

Sorry, deffinately?
Get a hobbt
I have several. Unfortunately I'm stuck at work about to kick off for the day but I appreciate your concern.
That statement cuts both ways, by the way. Get a hobby, better yet a job, and quit following my comments in other threads lmao.
Youre obsessed with me, I have no clue who you are.
— man who just so happened to find another comment of mine within 5 minutes of the first
Its almost like were commenting under the same post 🤯🤯🤯
Yeah...
Except you weren't. You found a sub that upsets you and you're obsessively commenting under posts you don't like. Comments are public lil bro.
Yeah I've had boomers judge me for reading "teen" fantasy. Like I'm sorry there are very limited dragon fantasy novels for adults ig?
I still don't know why... I mean, look at people through all of history, they read fiction
No it's not. Boomers will also argue fiction is for everyone. That generation is responsible for popularizing and/or even inventing the past 70 years of fiction writing.

Remember, women lame
It's funny because they'll also complain that fiction books are all for women now.
That's sort of true but it's because statistically only women read anymore anyways. But also that shouldn't be a problem because the majority of books have always been genre slop. There are plenty of niche authors writing new books that could appeal to anyone.
Tf you mean?
Men*
What in the new wave of He-Man Woman Haters is this nonsense?
I very much have heard people say that.
Same with anything animated, or games.
Some people are just. Stupid
I have a relative that still thinks fiction, animation and video games are only for children and I’m in the minority for being an adult that still likes them XD
Do they watch any live-action TV series? That's fiction
Yeah they do, I think fiction as in fantasy is off limits or not as grown up to them. Their beliefs are not consistent
Pretty sure Game Of Thrones was fiction, but I sure as fuck wouldn't want a kid watching it.

Why do you only bring up animation when live-action is also fiction?
Of course, I don't deny it, but I was mentioning a specific type of example of how many late GenZ and Gen Alpha look at animation or video games as something merely childish.
Breaking bad is really not for kids
Also anything by Scorsese (except Hugo), Kubrick, Tarantino, etc.

People definitely think this.
R/Gen z is such a cesspool
Glad that I left that sub
My wife is literally crazy for fiction, from movies to video games.
So glad we have sigma bearded man to tell whiny women this. Society is saved once again by this meme
They actually were ppl who said that, and it's actually the reason why doctor who was stopped before reviving in 2005 (iirc)
Somewhere, right now, there is a old man mourning the loss of his wife who shared a interest of a fictional series with him.
I’ve heard that my whole life. People do say that.
Fiction like video games, movies and other media has almost always been something associated with children
you know that horror movies are considered fiction too?
Yes I know. But the idiots who think that way don't even consider horror movies
If you think they’re idiots and you don’t think the same as them, why do you spread that ideology and express it like it’s yours?
I didn't. YOU chose to read it that way
It’s not victim blaming but it’s the same rethorical device that is often used
Where in my comment did I say that I believed that nonsense?
It’s in the subtext
You mean your interpretation? Yeah I can't help how you interpret stuff
If you say „it’s been considered that way for ages“ that implies you also think that way and are defending that analogy. It’s just that way. I can’t prove it to you and you won’t listen anyways but that’s all I can say

cool fiction edit, cringe start
I mean, I've heard people say this kind of thing before, but most of them were men, and I think they were all single anyway.
And yet, we always see this same type of guy making fun of of women for reading anything with a romance in it
People definitely have this opinion about a lot of fictional movies and series, but it's not really a Gen z thing, mostly gen x and older tbh
Oh yeah, women definitely don't read fictional books or watch movies.
When your only hobby is consuming media
Wait, I thought Netflix DMC was woke and gay. Now is ok ?
I've heard this opinion. Just read, period folks.
Fire edit though 🔥
Fiction is NOT always for kids (it's for people of all ages).
This slaps though
Lil bro is in a manipulative relationship and now thinks that all girls are like that 🥀

My guess here is they mean anime. And fuck them if they think that (old GenX)
