• This sounds somewhat misleading.
Makes it sounds like it will cost £27.35m to sack him.

It seems as if £17.3m has already been paid as part of compensation to Sporting and his salary to date.

So £10.05m is what it’ll cost for rest of his contract. I believe once he gets a new job the club stop paying him?

    Glad somebody said this

Still, remember when Amorim said he'd walk away from the job without compensation if people didn't want him there anymore?

It was a one-time offer he made to the board after the Europa League final, not a permanent outstanding offer.

Those people he was referring to were the players . I firmly believe the players were behind him . Some weren't and they were sold or on loan

Haha I’m gonna say it now. I think he’s a bit of a slimy twat.

So if your job sacked you and there was an agreement that they would pay you a couple years salary. You would say, ah no its grand don't be worrying about it? Grow up and live in the real world, they offered the contract they pay the contract.

So why say it in the first place? Because it was a lie that got fans onside. Slimy twat.

I’m not saying he should pass up the offer.

I think I got brigaded for saying this last week.

Dont you know? The rule is the players are greedy twat for doing it but its all sunshine when its the manager that does it

    'people' didn't want him out.

    A fucking insecure board did

Did people really want him out?

Why are you glad? What’s there to be glad about?

    Correcting idiot misinformation.

What was the misinfo. It’s clear as day in the infographic. We paid 9.5 mil to get him out of Sporting, he’s already been paid 7.8 million, and the rest of his contract is worth 10.05 million. Thats 27.35 million right there.

    The board is clearly lost.

No other club would have it reported this way

Yup, press and media are there to drive eyeballs and clicks now. Haven't been about reporting anything for quite a while and that's especially true around this club.

Also this wouldn't really come out of any budget. This was already earmarked to pay him. And we aren't hiring anyone as interim.

I read there's a caretaker coming in after Fletcher manages a few games.

Permanent manager next year will be paid on top of Amorim's payout.

    It's negligible really.

It doesn't work like that they will have to pay him the 10mn regardless of him getting another job

Makes you wonder if the OP is clincally stupid or trying to poison the fan base, not sure which is worse

I’d prefer if he was clinically stupid though he could be a rival who is accidentally trying to poison the wrong fanbase so he could technically be both

This is it. Makes it firmly in the realm of sunk cost.

He might as well take a very long holiday then.

    It’s quite clear.

I believe the club has to pay the rest of his contract regardless of his employment status.

And what is the total amount that Man U will have paid out to have him as a manager? Just to clarify.

Imagine calling out a post that explicitly breaks down where each part of the number is coming from as “misleading” lol

I’ve legit never in my life seen it reported or highlighted already paid wages when speaking about costs of a manager when sacked by a club

‘Sacking of Amorim will cost Man Utd up to £10.05m in compensation’ that’s how it’s always reported.

They’ve added multiple costs to inflate total figure as high as possible.

You can see from some replies here that many seem to think that entire £27m is to be paid as a result of sacking him, not that 70% of that figure has already been paid.

  • There were apparently no plans to spend aside from Semenyo and now they have an excuse to not spend at all, all worked out well for Ineos with that presser after Leeds

We blew our winter transfer budget on firing a manager with Champion League still in reach. It’s a certainty no signings are coming in under an interim, so the season is already written off.

    Hate it here.

  • Rant incoming….

The people running this club are fucking pathetic. We spent millions bringing Dan Ashworth in, only to spend more millions firing him because he disagreed with us implementing a 3-4-3. Fast forward to now, and we’re spending millions again to fire the guy who’s sticking with the 3-4-3 like we originally asked him to. In the space of a year we’ve changed our minds how we want to play but have fired the key people on both sides of that original argument in the process.

The media flip flops over what to say about United just to get as many clicks as possible, often contradicting themselves in the process, so why the fuck is our board of directors doing the same thing when deciding what’s best for the club.

We hired a manager because of his formation. We told him we wanted to implement his formation. We then didn’t back him properly by strengthening the key area in this formation. Results have been better but haven’t been consistent enough because of this and he feels a bit thrown under the bus because of the stick he’s constantly taking publicly, so we’ve told him to go back completely on his central philosophy and then fired him when he’s made a fuss about it.

If I can see that then how the fuck can’t the board see this?

I agree, total shitshow, they've clearly decided 3-4-3 is not the way to go, but then Glasner is favourite for the job who also plays it, I have no idea anymore, and frankly I'm losing interest in this constant circus.

It has very little to do with formation and everything to do with Amorim declining to be a glazer toadie. Owners think 3-4-3 is a math problem.

Yeah why not played four four fucking three? Are they stupid?

    The mastermind Ratcliffe somewhere somehow.

The management is rotten from top to bottom and yet there will be no consequences for them. But it was also time for Amorim to go. The last 14 months were just dreadfull. I've seen zero ingame managment from him.

I refuse to belive those people are that incompetent. This is some criminal activity, it has to be

The board, and the fans, want a total overhaul of the club - players, structure, culture. Everything.

Small caveat - whilst doing this it's important that results and performances get us into the CL next year. And don't expect signings to mirror the plan, because the sporting director will sign whoever he wants. If that means the misfield and wikgbacks aren't good enough, we'll call it a tactical problem and sign another 10.

When mom and dad are fighting in public, don't be surprised when they get divorced.

Maybe because Amorim's results were shit and there's no sign of vast improvement after 250m spent.

    Changes minds pretty quickly.

how can you have this opinion its insane to me.

Compared to other managers we've had previously he's was trying to build something long term instead of paper over the cracks.

We are 3rd for most goals scored, we are 3rd in xG, we are 3rd in big chances created and we are 3rd in big chances missed. The results didn't match but the underlying attacking numbers were great and we trying to go to dominate games instead of sit at the back counter attack???

Exactly. The main issue was in finishing. All of that could have sorted eventually.

That's great, he is one of the worst managers in premier league history going off actual results.

The underlying numbers are skewed by a small number of games.

yes its a results based business i understand, but where we are now it doesn't make sense to sack him now. He should have atleast been given until the end of the season.

    Dude your 6th!!!

Yes 1 point ahead of Brentford who lost their manager and 3 main players in the Summer. One to United. What an achievement.

And 3 behind last year's title winner. Chelsea ain't better and spurs as well. So it'd s tough league and many are struggling.

Additionally European places was the goal at the start of the season and we are on track with still a lot of room of improvement.

We just have no clear strategy and the board has no clue what they wanna do. That's why we are in limbo since years no matter who the manager was.

Let's keep repeating the same cycle over and over again.

European places is as low as 8th. Every other manager was judged on their ability to make top 4.

I actually agree, there is a LOT of room for improvement. Just need enough of it to hold off the challenge of Brentford after buying their best player.

    Your clueless

Should really get grammar right when calling someone names.

  • New manager: I need a midfielder Wilcox: They will cost too much

United announce a 70 million signing of an attacker

I mean we could always do with another 10 right?

    Who doesn't score goals

Unless it was someone of Kanes quality, I would have much rather kept Holjund for another year and bought a midfielder instead

Hojlund would’ve accumulated a grand total of 4 shots up until now if he was spending the season starting for us.

    Has Sesko got many more?

  • More like the club cost themselves £27m. Glad all those staff members lost their jobs so we can make crisp financial decisions…

  • We can't buy you new players because we have to buy you out

10m is pocket change to Man United.

    Really.

I believe United don't have the financial resources to compete for the top four or achieve Champions League success in Europe.

Haha yeah they just spend 250m a year.

    Is the team challenging?

Imagine this team now playing in the Champions League.

He has drawn games where they should have won. Old Trafford has seemed a nervous ground for them to play on. However, it's Groundhog Day, and they start again. That's really bad management from the board.

Sure they made it to a European final last season.

  • They say that the budget is tight and then sack a manager for speaking out for 27.35 million just because he spoke out against them hurting there tiny ego.

    fuck the glazers and ineos.

Don't forget about the money spent paying out ETH. I hope its coming out of sir Jim's pocket.

Ah no it's coming out of our pockets

Just remembered the dan ashworth money too. Mate what an absolute shambles.

The club is a laughing stock ATM. Remember how inter got onana for free only for us to pay a significant amount a year later? Lecce boss was laughing about the dorgu fee.. Sancho, Antony, hojlund aaaaaaah

And Ashworth , it’s probably close to 80m combined

Untied aren't paying 27.35M to sack him though. They're paying 10.05M. The other amounts had already been paid regardless of us sacking him. Don't fall for this clickbait garbage.

Have you ever heard of sunk cost fallacy?

I'd normally wouldn't miss an opportunity to stick the boot into Glazers and ineos but Amorim had to go. His football was god awful. Should have been given the boot a lot sooner. He wouldn't have gotten that amount of time at any other big club in any of the top five leagues in Europe.

Yeah he had to go but he wasn’t sacked for his football or results which is the funny thing, he could have kept his job if he wasn’t so emotional and toed the line. If the board were competent he wouldn’t have been signed in the first place or at least would have been sacked in May if it was down to the football only.

I also think that speaking out in the way he has been - firstly when he needlessly put down specific academy players and then after Leeds when he said his "manager not head coach" tirade - are justifiable reasons to sack someone who is not doing that well results wise.

Its the same reason Jose lost his job - if he had just been a normal person in press conferences he would have gotten to the end of that season or longer. He was so, so toxic from that preseason till his sacking.

Amorim to his credit has not been nearly as toxic, he's more the emotional outburst type whereas Jose was calculated in his every word and action. But those outbursts became more frequent and way more annoying - at least to me.

How can you just randomly say look at Obi Martin and Amass and whoever else they arent doing so well so of course I cant play them. What coach says that about their own club's academy? All so he could prove to journalists that he's correct. I'm sorry but you cannot survive as United manager if you gobble up every bait thrown your way from journalists.

Surely you don’t believe it’s because he spoke out? They clearly wanted him to be adaptable, capable of changing his tactics when we have injuries, things like AFCON, and he said no.

Again showing that he wasn’t a good manager, as we’ve seen for the last 14 months.

I’m really surprised with the amount of people against this decision. Yes it proves they chose the wrong man, obviously. But I’d rather they try and put it right now than at the end of the season when we’re 15th again

  • No new players in Jan then

You think the budget was 10m?

  • Literally no other team has news like this shared when they sack a manager. Ludicrous!

It’s United there’s no other club like it 👍🏼

  • People cheering on sacking the manager, what do you expect now to happen? I am genuinely in disbelief how clueless most of the fanbase really is. I don't care about Amorim, but it is another shitshow from our management, sacking the manager mid season again while we are still in the fight for Europe is absolute garbage move. It just shows that they weren't going to strengthen the team significantly and now what? They should appoint fucking Neville and Scholes, let them show us how it's done.

  • Of course the win rate is being brought up again and again. If you truly understand the issue, Amorim was sacked because he spoke the fucking truth. He called out dictator owners and got sacked. It’s simple as that. If it truly was results based, Jim Ratcliffe would have not said Amorim has 3 years to be judged. He also would have been sacked in summer if it was all results based. It has nothing to do with results.

Good luck to the board trying to convince any competent manager to join their project.

  • Why does Amorim gets hate for this?

  • That is why his new smiling picture with his wife appears haha. No more stress and big chunk of money guarantee

  • Football is fucking stupid

  • Total joke. Just as it seemed to be coming together a little they fire the guy. Who would want that poison chalice?

  • I mean it’s only 27 m. Wasted way more on useless players over the years

    Not even one sesko

  • Not only did you clowns hound the manager out, now you’re pocket watching. You deserve the Glazers. Piss the hell off.

  • What about his claim he'd "walk away"!? Absolute charlatan.

  • Easy money! LOL!

  • Club is absolutely in the gutter. Fuck INEOS & Glazers

  • Don’t forget the £7m? bill for Ashworth. What a fucking shitshow this club is.

  • Apparently INEOS has been smart money 💀

  • The £11m comp is if he exercises his full garden leave. So he’s not coming out of a transfer budget. Chances are he wants to take up another post before his contract T runs out and so we agree a reduced lump sum.

Same applies to his coaching staff when they inevitably go.

After the changes we’ve had I don’t know why people don’t already understand this. Once you understand then it’s not news, it’s just the cost of doing business.

  • Why don’t they add the cost of the staff Amorin had pretty sure they didn’t leave sporting for peanuts. Wilcox an ineos should be running a circus instead

  • This is what the tea ladies died for?

  • Im happy for him... to hell with this club's management

  • Good for Amorim he looked happy today, cant blame him when the board doesn’t back you and apparently according to reports, sabotage you by not getting the players you want . Honestly there were signs when he looked absolutely defeated talking about not signing players this window

  • Have the leaky toilets and showers that moanaldo complained about been addressed yet?

  • And the genius board has managed a win again! All that money saved from cutting lunches and jobs I presume.

  • I can do a much worse job at 10% the cost

  • He could end of signing for City and actually get backed and winning the league.

Ummmm have you watched his decision making. If I have to watch us go against 10 men and still have three defenders at the back I might have had to pull my hair out.

  • Blackout of Ruben Amorim, 🤮😁 fuck I don't believe replacement of head coach will help Man United

  • Dan Ashworth also costed.. for the hire..the sack and the compnesation..

    The INEOS era !!

  • cant wait when he gets hired elsewhere and he will do well, bcs ITS NOT THE BOARD WHO KILLED THE MU

  • Not to mention the amount to sack Ten Hag and Dan Ashworth.... We're being run by a bunch of clowns

Yep probably close to 60m in combined compensation, that’s the majority of a Baleba money . These guys are squandering money making mistake after mistake . Barrada needs to be accountable for this one .

  • He deserves every penny of it for putting up with the owners and management at the club.

  • 37% WR as a United Manager is absolutely awful. Just over 1 third of games won. Terrible

  • Could’ve used money this to I don’t know back him in the January window

  • why do they have to pay sporting ?
Or was it when in order to get him to join right away ?

    He had a contract

    ahh
sorry misunderstood, i thought this is additional pay out after we sack Ruben

you have to buy out the manager if you want him and he's under contract

  • This doesnt include the coaches brought in by Amorim who will likely also depart.

    Too bad. Oh well.

  • Old Trafford will still be full next game so don’t change nothing

  • I really don't know who didn't see this coming. The directors are hopeless. They knew they are hiring a junior manager, dedicated to a system that needs at least 5, maybe even 7, world class players for dedicated roles, and the club had none, not even after year and a half.

  • And for that reason I’d be shocked if we don’t go all in for Glasner in the summer. Out of contract so no comp to pay Palace and he’s delivered beyond expectations wherever he’s been.

  • Time for remaining janitorial staffs and other stadiums to look for jobs, unfortunately.

  • And the glazers cost us billions and oversaw the most enormous decline through employing and sacking people like him. Who you wanna blame?

  • Does the money for his staff come from his wage or the club?

  • Random unrelated question how does one become a mana- head coach?

  • There is no January budget that’s why he went like he did so they’d sack him n he gets his payout

  • Good for him. The cycle continues, wouldn’t be surprised if we’re relegated in the next few years

  • no wonder he was smiling in those photos

  • Question - does paying off a manager count towards ffp?

    No only player purchases

  • But he said he would walk away without any compensation if the club ever asked him to leave. So you’re telling me he was full of shit?

News flash the club didn’t ask him to leave he was sacked and for that reason they have to pay out his remaining contract 👍🏼 so he don’t lie

  • That’s a great retirement package for him.

  • For every negative thing you can say about Amorim, you can say about the fuckstick owners. Keep this energy for the next manager, and the one after, and the one after.

  • what about losing rate??

  • It is what it is regardless of performance.
Maybe they should have thought about it b4 they signed or sacked him.

  • We as fans don’t deserve it and of course I don’t wish it to happen but the board deserves to not get anywhere close to Europe after this shit show.

  • And it's all down to Ratcliffe/Willcox/Berrada decisions.... These are the guys CONTROLLING EVERYTHING

  • Mediocre players costing 35m out here feeling undervalued while coaches are worth less with contracts as light as 10m, no wonder some lads earning 375k a week are whiny.

  • Didn't Amorim once say he will walk away without any compensation if the board feels he is not the right guy?

  • Ha me no compensation…,took a compensation.

Sports fans love a charismatic dude that “say as it is”

He s full of it and have been for a while. I hope we dispel the image by hiring a pragmatic coach and decent man manager

  • Just goes to show how not to run a club.

  • Managers and players should be like normal jobs. if you're not good enough you get fired for not reaching targets and don't have payouts.

  • They still have to pay for his staff buyout too. There are another few millions.

  • This is what happens when you bring in a manager half way through a truly rotten season, then refuse to get in the players needed for their system.

  • It will cost United 10m additional. Not 27m. Still a good payout for him because Amorim negotiated his contract well. The real issue is that Berrada and Wilcox poor decisions are costing United all these payouts (ten hag, ashworth, Amorim) - the focus should squarely be on these two

  • I’m available. I can’t see I could do any worse ;-)

  • Presumably this isn't true as the Ruben cult insisted he wasn't a liar when he explicitly said he walk away for nothing if the club wanted him out

  • This reminds me of something a wise man told me once: "Do you know why divorces are so expensive?... because they're worth it"

  • Scamorim for a reason

  • This is how we do it. Sack manager till we find one. And keep the playaaa 🔥

  • Finish below 10th and we should be able to cancel their contract immediately for poor performance.

  • That's why he's called Scamorim. 100% payment for only 37% of the work.

His job description wasn’t “have a 100% win rate”. The club, however, did agree to pay him this money under a legally binding contract, it’s a pity it won’t come out of Jim’s own coffers

  • 36.92% is embarrassing. I actually can't believe he lasted this long.

Ultimately, Ashworth might have been right.

  • Id say that the lad stole a living from the club, but they freely gave him more than he was ever worth. What an awful appointment.

  • He wasn’t the right manager. At least Jose was upset and he moves clubs more than some people have showers. Again… another Man City want him… so let’s get him. That 532 / 3511 formation was a disaster. His substitutions are the most cowardice decisions I have ever seen. Defender for a defender every time. I will say he talked a good game, but he didn’t show it at all. If this guy gets a big job anytime soon I will be surprised. When he said he was here to be manager and not the coach….. you can’t manage the game first of all, the only thing everyone was thinking was you are a good coach. Now he’s saying he’s a manager. Good riddance.

    go wash your mouth.

Raj…. Take a bath. I can smell you from here.

  • Don't pay him off. Put him on gardening leave. If he wants a new job then he walks away. Worked for roman era Chelsea
