I appreciate that this is a time of high emotion for some users, but that doesn't excuse rudeness!
Let's not give the management a pass on this. They were the ones who hired Amorim even though they should have known the club did not have enough players for his 3-4-3 and getting those players would cost hundreds and hundreds of millions. Amorim was arguably not good enough but he also did not get what he was promised.
Wilcox and company should be on thin ice too.
Dan Ashworth lost his job telling them that
It’s hard to swallow that one, they backed the wrong horse here and therefore shown their decision making…this is on Wilcox and Berrada but ultimately, the buck therefore stops with Ratcliffe
What is he upto these days? Might as well get him back
Probably just admiring his pristine garden
Head of football at the FA and I would imagine he’s having a great 2026
Rangnicks' words about the club needing open heart surgery just continue to get proven right. Just reset the place or something I don't know what the answer is anymore.
Oh, I’m 100% not giving them a pass. I’ll never forgive them and never forget this, not because I didn’t want Amorim sacked, but because they knew what kind of manager they were hiring, made promises to him, and failed to live up to it. His dismissal should have come due to his performances not because of what he said to the press. I have absolutely zero faith in INEOS hiring a good manager for this team. We seem to be in a never ending cycle of horrible ownership.
I got blocked by a well known Twitter Red blogger/YouTuber (what ever we call these people now?) for saying exactly what you just posted.
Amorim was most likely not the right guy for the job, but currently ownership and management are definitely not the people for the job. Can’t get rid of them as easily or at all.
They also extended Ten Haag then fired him
Agreed. They knew it was a bad decision too but pushed it through.
Having people of the calibre of Wilcox and Fletcher around the club, interfering and influencing decisions doesn’t exactly help 😩
Berrada and Wilcox need to go asap. Renewing EtH and then sacking him, the massive redundancy program overseen by Berrada the CEO, hiring a system manager mid-season and delivering the worst United league position in the PL - we put with a lot of rubbish in the last 14 months, not anymore.
I'll not back any hiring done by these clowns in the Board. They are the problem. They need to go.
I agree.
It doesn’t even need to be that deep, like Amorim.
They’ve had a go. They’ve overseen us getting worse rather than better.
Thanks for trying - now let’s try other talent.
Absolutely right. I've been Amorim out for a long time now, but completely agree this is more on the ownership than it is him.
What an absolute waste of a year and a half
It has been a cycle since SAF left.
And it’s not gonna stop till the front office aka the board get their heads out of their ass and realize that they are the problem in this club.
JUST ONE MORE MANAGER BRO, TRUST ME BRO THIS IS THE ONE, BRO LITERALLY JUST ONE MORE MANAGER, TRUST BRO
I don’t think it’s necessarily a waste. I think the squad is in a much better place than when he took over.
GK: Lammens, Bayindir
RB: Dalot, Mazaraoui
CB: De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro, Maguire, Heaven
LB: Shaw, Dorgu
CM: Casemiro, Ugarte, Mainoo, Collyer
CAM: Bruno, Mount
LW: Cunha
CF: Sesko, Zirkzee
RW: Mbeumo, Amad
Not huge amounts that need to change there. Get a better backup to Sesko and sort the midfield (but a 4-2-3-1 will help the midfield anyway)
These players will fit well into a 4231. Honestly, we hope we get an experienced manager.
Seems it's until the summer we'll have an interim
Sesko has two goals in 17 games and you think we only need a backup for him up front? LMAO
Manchester United!
Rebuilding since 2013.
watch Kobbie become mysteriously fit for Burnley
I’m praying he doesn’t… he’s hardly looked like he makes any improvement to the team over the current starters. He had that one great season and has been a 6/10 at BEST since… seriously don’t get the hype around him
Amorim damaged some egos at yesterday’s conference, it wasn’t even about the result. The relationships behind the scenes were broken and this is one big failure for Berrada and Wilcox who have explaining to do too.
Agree. The "if they can't handle the Gary Neville's and criticism" was clearly targeting someone specific inside the club, someone which upon hearing would know who the message was for, and surely wasn't the cleaner too...
Agreed, this was totally due to the press conference - the management needs cleared from the top down
I think Ruben was really angry at the situation and wanted his way out. He will get about 12 mil. € of compensation and get stress of his shoulders.
I doubt we will hear from any of them.
They’re too weak to come out of their hiding spots.
Amorim basically said, "I have 18 months left here and then somebody else can take this job." No fucking clue what was going on behind the scenes, but he basically said he ain't sticking around after his contract is up. I can understand wanting to rip the bandaid off if he doesn't want to be here, but what the fuck could have happened that kicked all of this into motion?
And who do we get now?
On the positive note the squad Ruben left is levels above the one Ten Hag left Amorim.
Agreed. We can still get EL in my opinion.
We can get top 4.
Top 5 should do it this year again.
Too many AM in same position and no long term CM
This is why I do feel for Amorim. This transfer window and next should have been about getting the CM roles sorted for Amorim to prove what he can do.
We will now never know if it would work or not.
Our transfer market will be in shambles without a manager; it's highly possible we end up with no signings.
3 CBs in 2024, 3 attackers in 2025, surely 3 midfielders in 2026!!
Stack the MF
If this is true, I don't know why we ever kept him for this season... I've been supporting the manager since we hired him, I knew it wasn't perfect... in fact it was relatively stressful..
But last season was a "write off", this season things have shown signs that his system could actually come good if he was given the players he needed. I'm sad it's ending like this, if this is indeed true...
Firing him during AFCON just doesn't make any sense to me at all, but there is enough people out there who wanted this.
I am concerned about who's going to be the new manager, I don't know if there is anybody out there who is "right" for this job...
As fans, we regroup, we regather and we move forwards. At least the users of this sub won't be having a civil war anymore.
If this is the end for Ruben I always liked the person, even if I didn't always agree with the manager! All the best Ruben!
I think that interview yesterday did him in. Ruben is a smart guy, he had to know that he was bringing the axe upon himself. The whole story is yet to be told, but I won’t be surprised if The Athletic as issued an all hands on deck order to their staff to make sure we hear from all ports of call..
He was probably frustrated because you can just tell that the United board would have signed 0 players on the winter market even though 80% of the starting players are out injured
Yeah, he can’t say that in front of media, just like you can’t tell everyone you have issues with your boss openly. He is too honest. It’s a pity he has to go let this, however watching his game is suffering!
Spot on, I feel exactly the same. Liked the guy, didn't love the system but we were definitely showing improvement. This feels like we are back at square one again
Yeah… having a handful of significant injuries and AFCON players out doesn’t seem like a reasonable sacking.
This clearly isn’t based on the Leeds result alone. We had two clean sheets this season, as many of our stats are relegation form as there are positive ones.
I know you were Amorim IN, so this news must be a gut punch. Although I knew this would eventually happen, I’m not rejoicing. It’s sad that things didn’t work out for yet another manager.
I must say I disagree about no more civil war on this sub though. People here will find anything to fight about. The club is a hot mess and the dynamics here are a reflection of that.
I'll be honest, I was never blind to the problems we had.. And as I said to you before, I just want the best for Manchester United!
Amorims record, although it probably should have multiple asterisks, at the end of the day wasn't good enough.
I do think it could have come good long term.. But it's done now!
Whoever comes in to replace him, I'll get behind and support my club.
Looking forward to being on the same side of a debate as you though!
That’s all that needs to be said pal. We move, hopefully to something successful. Maybe we’ll disagree on some things going forward, but it’s good to have healthy debate!
GGMU
100% agree.
I agree. I would have had no issue with them privately knowing this is his final season, barring a huge uptick in our results and performances.
My fear is we get someone in soon, and they take on a dysfunctional team midseason, get some poor results, and already have negativity following them into the summer and next season. Both this season and last season started with a manager on the edge.
I hope we get an interim that has a somewhat similar philosophy to the eventual permanent coach. Or obviously if we do get a new guy soon that he hits the ground running.
Which is crazy with fans like that we will never truly have a proper rebuild if we continue with sacking the managers after every 1-3 seasons.
He sacked himself essentially.
Yesterday when he said he was going to see his 18 months out and leave, you can imagine Wilcox and Berrada thinking "what's the point keeping him then?"
Ruben wouldn't mouthed off if he was backed with January transfer budget
At this point, we also need to ask if the "right" person for the job is going to be dumb enough to accept such a thankless, powerless, high pressure job.
https://preview.redd.it/0bftvvihkibg1.jpeg?width=924&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbee14b19de8e39287507d4684a72605219ef486
This little shit. The Joffrey Baratheon of football ladies and gents.
What a cunt
That little shit lmao
I hate this bloke
It amazes me that we still have fans supporting him. Noticed too when he left there less leaks.
We're turning into Temu-Chelsea... Just a complete shit show
Ineos are a joke, Glazers are fucking leeches
My club is rotten to the core, I've no inclination or desire to stop supporting the club BUT they're fucking killing me
Least Chelsea has a squad and squad depth man
Depth is an illusion there lol. They just numbers with no quality at all
Well that escalated quickly
https://preview.redd.it/ld17lr9jaibg1.png?width=1199&format=png&auto=webp&s=616401c45abf14f990fc9b9cc3f463012b15a8af
ffs.. back to square one again. I thought we were rebuilding the team. Fact is we are missing a couple of key players in Mbeumo and Amad the past games, but we are still sitting in 6th at the moment.
This happening right at the January transfer window means only one thing. Amorim and the higher management are not aligned. Amorim doesn't get what he wants and higher management expect more results. It's a shame. I actually had hope.
Yeah Amorim had 1 transfer window. What’s the point if you only ever give a manager a single window.
I am fuming atm. What did they expect? that we would be in the state like Arsenal are absolutely dominating after our past season? Rome isn't build in one day. I am also starting to feel like higher management suddenly highjacked how the team should be ran. The 4-3-3 doesn't feel like it's Amorim's plan to do so.
Amorim sacked - what now for the club?
It seemed inevitable after yesterday’s conference but where does that leave the club this season?
We’re three points off fourth position. Granted the football hasn’t be the best as of late but we’re also missing five starting players. But you can now guarantee we’re not getting close to CL football and yet again we’ll be chalking off another season.
As soon as the board take a tiny bit of heat from the manager, they jump the gun. It’s clear now that the relationship between Wilcox and Amorim had completely gone, and given Berrada wanted Amorim and spent close to €10m to release his contract from sporting - knowing his preferred system and tactics - it’s his first big failure as CEO.
I genuinely have no trust in the INEOS team to deliver for this club at all, and the warning signs were there when they failed to let Ten Hag go after the FA Cup final.
So - what now?
Should have given Amorim time for at least this season; changing in the middle of the season is not a good decision. And who is even the replacement for him?
First big failure?? Berrada - the yes man for SJR only has failings - renewing EtH and sacking him, massive redundancy program sacking canteen staff, sacking Dan Ashworth for having the guts to stand up to these clowns, forcing Amorim to move mid-season, sacking him at the first sign of friction...he needs to go now. SJR and Glineos need to go now!
Lets Scholes take the seat, he has a big mouth
Ashworth died for this.
https://preview.redd.it/7cmx3zjs9ibg1.jpeg?width=447&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d07795c66a5a372ce0eaa5d252253492384e332f
He said fuck this I’m outta here and slagged the board. I respect it. Get that bag. Our club is a poison chalice, good luck getting a good manager in. Amorim wasn’t the problem.
Chelsea fan here. I come in peace.
I just want to point out one thing that u guys may not see. Both our clubs are owned and ran by idiots from the U.S. we recently heard that Enzo Maresca was micromanaged in the same way as Amorim. Constant interference etc. Do u think this is coincidence?
How do u know he had little to nothing to say in many areas.
Seeing some of you throwing shit at him reminds me of myself throwing shit at Maresca when reality was different.
U.S. ownership is like cancer. They should be no near anything
Kroenke owns Arsenal and he’s done a phenomenal job with every team he owns including them. It’s not cause they’re American owners. It’s ownership who don’t know shit about what they’re doing that’s killing us.
What a shit show
This decision at this time is absolute insanity. The players were still playing for him which is a sign they support him. We're sitting in a good place in the league. We're bang in the middle of a season.
If we were going to get rid, it should have been last season. Now in the middle of the worst squad issues imaginable, he gets hung out to dry and we're back to square one.
The board is shocking.
Completely agree.
Whoever comes in has to play the next few games with a threadbare squad in a new system the players haven't trained in for months
Totally agree! I was just thinking the very same thing - the team were definitely still playing their hardest for him and we're only 3 points off 4th, with all these players out, for Christ's sake! At least finish off the season! Absolutely awful decision-making! So annoyed!
Time for the elite manager Gary Neville to step up... lol.
Mate id love nothing more than to see him try and back up all the shite hes been coming out with during commentary all season
I would love to see this, as well as Paul Scholes.
Let’s be honest: the results weren’t great, and Amorim isn’t immune to criticism. Some decisions were questionable. Some performances were flat. But given the squad he inherited, the injuries, and the structural mess behind the scenes, he’s done reasonably well this season. Not exceptional. Not disastrous. Just… workable.
And that’s exactly the problem.
United keep hiring managers knowing the constraints, selling the idea of a “project,” and then acting shocked when instant miracles don’t happen.
First Ten Hag — backed, then binned.
Then Dan Ashworth — hired, then discarded.
Now Amorim — judged before the dust even settled. If every manager fails, maybe the issue isn’t that every manager is wrong.
You don’t build stability by constantly resetting the clock. You build chaos. And that’s exactly what the owners have perfected.
Id be much more enthused about this if they hadnt named Darren Fletcher as the interim, cant help but think bringing Ole back to the end of the season for some vibes and getting the fans back on board is a better play.
Agreed. Fletcher has 0 managerial experience. How has he ended up as a caretaker? Might as well give the job to a fucking Labrador…
They wanted a yes man - and young manager who will suck it up and tow the party line. He refused.
The board should be sacked - Berrada, Wilcox, Vivell - all of them. Then get these Glineos out!!!
This Wilcox bastard better be next. A fucking leech
I said with both ETH and Amorim, the main thing I crave as a United fan is stability.
A vision top to bottom which is backed and seen through as a project.
Having been at Old Trafford for ETH, Ruud and Amorim games, to me, the difference was clear and vastly improving. The trigger for if they backed Amorim, for me, was always going to be if they signed meaningfully expensive wing-backs. They didn't.
The reality of right now is that United sit 6th in the league, only off a champions league spot on goal difference. We can talk about how many points we are on to what position all day long, but come the end of the season, if we get 5th, it doesn't matter if we're 1 point from 19th. We're 5th.
I felt like with Amorim being the guy INEOS picked, we would finally see an extended period of stability within the club. A vision seen through. Alas, here we are. Manager-less, again.
I said a week ago the next manager of Manchester United will be sacked before the end of 2027. I'd put money on it. That was before Amorim was sacked.
Don't misunderstand this post. It's not an Amorim "Love in". I just wish for stability and vision.
If nothing else, Amorim has completely exposed that the same issues while fully under the Glazers also exist under INEOS. This, too, I'd hoped was solved.
People can talk if's, but's and maybes. Points this. Points that.
But, we're right there. We're so close. I can only hope the next full time manager helps us take a step forward rather than us regressing under a new vision we have to see through but won't.
Who's gonna be the next manager? Oh.. i meant the next coach.
Wilcox should follow him tbh
Highly doubt this was based off his recent results and not that interview
For amorim or against him, you have to agree the club is rotten. I don’t have any hope or expectations now..
Now they'll get another guy who will want his own system his own players. They will back him halfway and then when we start losing they'll sack him. This will continue forever. Joke of a club I can't support this circus anymore.
Hire a three back manager and ask him to play four back and when he calls you out you fire him. This is the same INEOS who sent the message of long-term project and building a modern football club lol. Absolute clown of a club.
Someone check Nice's manager's record.
"Amorim is our guy, he gets 3 years".
-2months later-
"Amorim has been let go".
Lets not be blind here. INEOS are the criminals. Even before Amorim, soon as they finalized ETH imploded, then they got Amorim who never even got going.
RATcliffe out!
Anyone actually celebrating this does not see the bigger picture. You may not have liked him or the style of play but the results didn’t get him sacked he questioned the board and that’s what did it. The fact we constantly have business men destroying this club shouldn’t be ignored
The board don’t want a coach or manger they want a yes man and Wilcox wants to run the club through a proxy. This happens constantly and will happen with the next guy. The club is screwed,
This is what the people aren't understanding
He was sacked because he (rightfully) dared question the hierarchy
Joke of a club. Amorim should have never come mid season last year
Back to square one !! That’s the saddest thing
https://preview.redd.it/f5zu8tiqdibg1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbfe7a6388b59ef60a3a6d54990cd148f12ea705
its js the same shit over and over again
Here the most insecure awards go to the duo of Wilcox and Berrada
Man, what a circus of a club we are
Zero balls to stick with a decision and build something credible !! Why hire a manager you can’t support ?
Fuckin disgusting. Joke of a club at this point. During AFCON, with improvements since last season and getting rid of players with ego /drama or dead wood.... out the fuck with those Americans
Amorim should come out now and do a tell all interview of what exactly happen and let the boards bear some responsibility as well.
This is pure circus, back to square one and possible back to lower half of the table as well
I’ve wanted a former manager or player to do that FOR YEARS!!! I want a Ronaldo esque interview where they air literally anything and everything out. Management players etc…
We are a fucking clown club man. We will have no resurgence back to glory.
Ralf Rangnick win %: 37.93
Rueben Amorim win %: 38.1
Anyone who remembers that Rangnick season will know that it was diabolical and that squad was way worse with deadwood, than what Amorim has.
It's the same cycle, how is anyone meant to get us on track?
Why would any manager want to come to us?
Wtf … round and round we go again
all because he spoke the truth
If the sack was based off of the results then sure go ahead (it clearly wasnt). But more likely than not, its because of the fragile egos of the ones in charge of the club. I completely get amorims desire to spend in this window to strengthen the midfield. But the club's reluctance to invest in his philosophy sowed the seeds of failure and fractured the relationship between him and wilcock.
Horrible decision, they knew his system, he said it’s gonna be hard, he told them there needs to be a proper shake up in squad and his first transfers paid off, (3 attacking players, and United had a much better offensive look to them than in previous years as well as a greatly scouted goalkeeping talent). Can’t accept this, I do believe that he was a good manager for the future and that he would bring back the glory days some day. Absolutely gutted.
If they’re sacking this man, they need to sack everyone between him and owners. Another “rebuild” is the last thing we need. Rinse and repeat is looking like pure erosion.
Can United fans honestly say where they think they should be in the league this season? Just compare your best XI to everyone else in the top 6, who apart from Bruno would be a starter for your supposed rivals?
Thats why Amorim shouldn’t have been sacked. The players never stopped playing for him, he still had the dressing room, and despite a paper thin squad he is still close to what the board expected of him regarding league position.
Still, U.S. ownership. We will never ever know all the truth behind what is happening in our clubs.
I am genuinely gutted for what they did to Amorim - he was was doing ok with a depleted squad. He brought in forwards and were the joint second highest scorers this season. Never gave him a CDM or a defender. Not sure who will come but this is very very poor from the leadership.
If I draw parallels with Arsenal (and I hate doing that), they also built on their performances season by season. But the first thing they did was to give Arteta a free hand - he kicked Auba, Ozil, Xhaka, Pepe, Lacazette, out of the team, brought in the players he wanted - essentially a completely new team - even sold Ramsdale who was a recent purchase to accept Arteta wanting Raya. They even backed him to splurge on Rice.
Does Arsenal play the same free flowing football like the Wenger era? Absolutely not. But are they effective? Yes.
Not sure who comes in next, but why sack him mid season? Whichever way you look at it, this is really really poor from the leadership.
De Ligt's one manager a season streak lives on
https://preview.redd.it/5wdliirnwibg1.png?width=495&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddbf6ec5fb3cac16e3b8a4a6693af6ef4e6f9d02
I might be in the minority, but Amorim the only ray of sunshine in all this misery for me. He finally gave me hope, and even though it felt a bit far away, truly made it feel like he had the gumption to bring us the better days he promised
Just fuck this board
HOW ARE PEOPLE HAPPY ABOUT THIS?! Dictatorship ownership. Amorim had the guts to speak up about the shit ownership and gets sacked 24 hours later. Now we repeat the cycle of the last 8 or so years. Im fucking fed up.
We don’t have the smartest fan base dawg
What are you talking about? Amorim was the only problem we ever had as a club. He single-handedly ruined decades of good decision-making by our hyper-competent board in a bit longer than a year. We’re lucky they once again made the swift and sensible decision to replace him before the season even ended, so we can win all of our remaining games and win the sextuple in 2027 with whichever shiny new toy they have their eyes on. We should be grateful they will be the ones to choose his successor as they can never do wrong, like hiring someone of Amorim’s calibre
Obvious /s since I never know with this fanbase anymore
We’re such a stupid fucking club. Fuck INEOS. Fuck the Glazers. Why would anyone want to come here?
And so the cycle continues. When are we going to understand that the problem isn’t the manager, but something deeper? In my opinion, he should have stayed. He is a great manager who proved himself in Portugal, where he took time to build success and even defeated top-tier teams with Sporting.
He was working with very limited resources, and that was evident when you looked at the players available on our bench. If you compare our bench to that of almost any other Premier League team, it becomes clear how few options we had. On top of that, he didn’t receive anything close to the level of investment in players that Ten Hag did.
From start to finish, this has been some frustrating shit!
That is all!
There's a big probability he wasn't sacked due to results alone but more due to internal conflicts with the board over transfer business and team management if you ask me. The team's position in the table isn't actually that horrible compared to last season for example. There's more to this than just football reasons.
Anyway, we are a doomed club regardless of the manager at this point.
Nail in the coffin if you ask me . Sacking him after the grimsby game or even after the everton game would make a lot of sense. The team has improved since last season. You can see amorim never asked for a sesko type of player. He wants players that are good on the ball and can create threats from everywhere. Now we have some butthurt guys in charge that take the punditrys words closer to the heart than needed. Im really baffled by this decision. The owners did ole really dirty. They didnt amorim the same. The united board is not looking for managers or people with balls they are looking for new scapegoats. The cycle continues. I wish all the best to Amorim and the suffering at united will still continue. Im not gonna be surprised even if we get relegated in the upcoming seasons. Way to go board. Another season written off while we are 3 points off of top 4 for fucks sake.
Save the season? Give me a break!
If you’re gonna sack him do at the end of the year, not when we’re 3 points out of 4th with 5 of the starting 11 out. Smfh
https://preview.redd.it/6exu62wnijbg1.jpeg?width=740&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71c29d3f76cf16a4fd629994a3d82e5020efedd9
He's statistically the 4th-worst manager in Man Utd history.
Mental.
So many are talking like we just sacked a wildly successful manager? What the hell is going on? Am I being gaslit?
He had a worse record than Gary Neville at Valencia.
No, we are not 'finished as a club' because we just did something Brighton would have done last season.
The board is to blame here, Amorim called out Wilcox for his bs and agenda and it cost him his job. They don’t want a coach they don’t want a manger they want a fucking lapdog.
Everyone here cry’s for the united way well when the hell was the united way to bow down to some wanker business man like sjr and Wilcox.
Fletcher is gonna cause more issue and Wilcox will bring in Southgate like he wanted and you’ll watch this club burn.
This is so dumb.
Why would you put Fletcher in charge 😫😂
Fucking hell, I was not expecting that.
The board fucked up, sack them as well.
I think it'll be a bad decision in the long run. Maresca got sacked before him, and even the pundits said it was stupid timing because replacements mid season are going to be a minefield and half a season under an inexperienced interim?
The irony is I think a couple of midfielders and strengthening wing backs and people will think this sacking has changed the side when that's what it was lacking anyway.
They've definitely done this based on his comments about the recruitment rather than the results, and it seemed like the kind of ultimatum, sign the players I want or sack me.
I think Amorim will do alright somewhere else and I think some fans will soon realise a new manager won't suddenly fix the issues we've had regardless of what system they play. Although it will be somewhat refreshing to stop hearing them talk about it every week and whether or not Mainoo will be in the starting eleven.
So sick of this.
Glazers out.
INEOS out.
Leeches, scum, liars.
He only got sacked cause of his comments yesterday, not because of the results over the last few months, showing a lack of urgency on INEOS part that they only pulled the trigger because he basically hurt their feelings
I cant believe they didnt give him the full season, they've robbed the supporters completely of seeing it through to success/failure. Next season would've been a fresh start for the manager, Amorim or other.
Now were stuck in limbo again, a new manager and staff brings instability at a time where we should be trying to build and improve on our current form.
I hope for the clubs sake things turn out well and we get a respectable finish in the league. I hope for the teams sake the new manger can improve the way we play. I hope for everyones sake the new manager doesnt allow the players egos to rot the dressing room again.
This will be the excuse for stagnating recruitment in this and the next transfer window.
This window - we can’t sign anyone because we don’t know who the new manager will want.
Summer - we can’t sign anyone because the new manager needs time to assess his squad and decide what he wants.
I’m so fucking sick of this club. How can anyone turn this train wreck around in 18 months? The board is a joke

The Club that Ruins every career lol. So let me get it straight... In short, the management demanded that Amorim come to Manchester mid-season with players he didn't choose, and guess what? It went wrong... He clearly starts the season with a team that wasn't what the coach wanted, and completely ridiculous in terms of the substitutes' bench, guess what, it went wrong... even so, he still has a chance of reaching the Champions League... In January, zero prespective of bringing in new players who actually bring quality to the starting eleven. So wasn't it a 3-year project? The management got bitter after hearing the truth. JOKE OF OWNERSHIP !! SELL IT
I think that sacking him was good, but late decision. 6 months late.
There are a few reasons why sacking him is good: - results - obviously, absolutely terrible - boring style of play, his United is boring to watch, no flair nothing. I guess someone will point to stats and improving xG or some statistical bollocks, but I am speaking as someone who watch games with my kids and I can tell you I am bored, kids are bored, don‘t even expect to see something that will excite me. - going against Academy players in a rant without any reason. As human being, not just United manager, you never ever do that - not improving players you have, not a single player improved in last 14 months - not accepting blame for bad results, always someone else the guilty one - lowering the bar - happy with draws, even defeats, even fans starting to be happy with performance. - not capable to adapt - focused on one system, no plan B or C, no idea what to do if that doesn‘t work - in game management - obviously his adaptation to the changes in rivals tactic non existing, his subs always terrible
But, he is not the only one who should lose his job. Our football board, Berrada and Wilcox need to be sacked as well. It is their decision to keep Ten Hag, their decision to sell McTominay to fund Ugarte, to appoint Amorim, to fall down with Rashford and stand with Amorim, to sell Hojlund and buy Sesko, to keep Amorim after terrible season, to sack Academy coaches and bring City rejects. So, if you make bad decisions you need to have repercussions or you will continue with the same.
The biggest problem is that INEOS have no idea what are they doing. We can see that with Nice and Lausanne. After almost decade in both clubs and some investment, they did not make any success at all. It is not about money, they just don‘t know football. They said with United they will sign best in class, we ended with Berrada as CEO (never a CEO in his career) and Wilcox as DoF (DoF in Southampton for 7 months, hardly best in class). That is the main problem.
We’re so screwed.
Let's hire a guy that always said he plays a certain system. Give him a squad of mostly shit players that don't play his system. Give him 3 attacking players to fix the attack. Then say he's here for 3 years. Then sack him mid season because he wasn't able to change his squad in 1 window and because he struck a nerve on your ego.
Board, sporting director, CEO should step down. Owners should be overthrown. Burn this rotten core to the ground. Amorim was the rebuild. Even God can’t help their egoistic noobs. And screw you English media and sky sports circus.
Im struggling to understand why Glasner is the early favourite. At Palace he is playing the exact system Amorim was trying to get to eventually. So we will be in the same predicament as he still wont have the right CMs, inside forwards or Wingbacks needed to make it work.
Jesus Christ, some of ya'll need to grow a fucking spine.
He was a horrible coach and not up to premier league standards. Worst manager post-Fergie, and it's not even close. Abysmal win record and abysmal football/tactics. An absolute travesty that didn't know how to adapt. He was clearly way out of his depth. Embarrassing reactions I am seeing here.
Amorim simply did not have the CV/record at Man Utd/clout to go into a battle with management.
If after 14 months at Man Utd you’re running around with a win % in 30s. Back to back league wins only once in that time period
And only a handful of good performances to break up the terrible performances (even this season it’s 70% bad - 30% good performances, last yeah 90-10)
A sacking can always be justified when you look at his body of work over the past 14 months.
This is it. I’m done with United.
After 30 years of supporting this club, I genuinely believe the best thing I can do now is walk away. Sacking a manager mid-season, a manager who took us from 15th to 6th with just four signings, is beyond unacceptable. I can’t defend this anymore.
Until there are new owners, I’m out. No more INEOS. No more Glazers nonsense. No more pretending there’s a plan.
I’m leaving the Reddit subs, unfollowing the Instagram pages, and disconnecting from all United-related social media. I will stop watching games altogether. No more engagement, no more attention. It won’t be easy cause this club has taken up a huge part of my life, but this is the only response left.
Why am I posting this? Because the people running this club clearly believe they can do whatever they want without consequences. They don’t listen to protests in. They don’t care about banners at Old Trafford. None of that has changed a thing.
If you truly care about this club, I encourage you to do the same. The only language these people understand is money and engagement. So let’s hit them where it actually hurts. Let’s hit them in their pockets !
Full boycott. No clicks. No views. No subscriptions.
It’s our club — not theirs — and this is the last leverage we have.
The relationship looked broken based on the last interview.
Club failed again to support a manager.
Absolute stupidity and incompetence.
Hopefully they have a replacement in mind with a proven track record in domestic football in the EPL, or at least one of the big leagues.
Scholes neville and keane as manager together so we can abuse them they way they abuse others
love to see how they fare as Man United manager after all the rants
They’ll be dead quiet if one of their mates ends up getting the job no matter how much we struggle. Oh yeah just see how quiet they will be now that Fletcher is taking over.
Waste of time , waste of a year and a half of a project , adapting players to a system to go back to square one - I dispise this football club
F U all who were against Amorim.
Hope it isn't true...
F It I’m putting in my job application for this position. Can’t be that difficult
Dumb move
Get Nicolas Maduro in he's got plenty of time on his hands
Clearly fallen out with the board, gutted really just back to square one another manager coming in dealing with players who aren’t his. When are we just going to give someone time- needed another season or two to get the midfield sorted. Not really sure who else is out there would be happy with glasner
I can’t believe we’re doing this again ffs
we talk about project 150 but the execs will sack a manager at the slightest bruise of their ego. I don’t even see a project 155 or 160
This is shocking. United were finally clicking in attack and looking genuinely scary. Defense has issues but heaven is looking good. Why now? After all this time when they have finally turned a corner
This club man, FFS. Had always assumed things would get better when the new hierarchy came in, but still the same total rubbish. There better be more to this than just poor results
Can’t wait for a new manager to be appointed, spend another 300M on ‘his guys’ to then just be back here again in 2 years time.
Heaven forbid a manager is ever given time to build a squad and a club
What can actually be expected when you go through 8 managers in 10 years. I'm not saying he was an elite manager but he was clear about his system and was told he had backing, clear improvements with a depleted squad and still missing key positions he was after and topping stats we couldn't dream of last season. We will never have any sort of continued success if we are a revolving door for managers. Struggling to see how any decent manager would look at us with potential anymore when the board clearly lie to the manager about their backing and are happy to sack them after clear improvements, mid season without anyone lined up to take over. Feels like a power trip to me
It makes sense but at the same time Ratcliffe looks even more incompetent with his ‘3 year’ statement he made a few months ago.
The merry go round continues.
I’d like to see Glasner get the job since he is adaptable between a 3atb and a 4-2-3-1, plays counter attacking football and insists on a lot of crosses in to the box.
No, this time is different. This is the first time since SAF that a manager/head coach has been sacked when the team is still very much in the race for a top 4 finish in terms of league position and points. Not sure this is a good or bad change though.
Can't wait until we're back here next year saying #whoeverisinchargenowOUT
How much is the payoff for sacking him now? I know it significantly reduced if they kept him until the end of the year.
This was always on the cards, his job was safe whilst the sack fee was higher, then after that it was results dependent.
People also need to accept utd are only doing comparatively well in the league table because nobody below us is having any consistency either. This squad and this manager 2-3 seasons ago would be in bottom half of the table for sure.
Yes they'd been playing slightly better but considering all the extra training and rest time they've had this season they bloody well should be hounding teams in Europe off the pitch and they've not been.
I'd get Ole back in until the end of the season if they didn't fancy taking a punt on maresca. Then for me, I'd love Glasner.
We can all have different opinions on Ruben and whether he’s a good manager or not but I think we can all agree that a club firing its manager when you’re within a few points of a CL spot is objectively wild.
That’s the problem. We’ve thought for the past decade that there a power dynamic at United that doesn’t allow the manager to manage - we now know that’s true. The fact that this happened so soon after the presser is proof of that.
There’s a fundamental shift that needs to happen with how this team sees managers in order for us to get top flight candidates again. The secret is out - if you come here, you won’t really be given the reins.
Back to square one, clubs a joke. Hope all those plastics are happy he’s gone now, we will have a bump up for a couple of games and then fade again, same bullshit different manger.
Everyone fussing here about what Amorim did and who the next manager should be and here I am daydreaming about please Qatar buy our club 😭
Knew this would happen
Nothing will change while we keep trying to make money over process
Amorim backed them into a corner. They had to either deliver on whatever promises they made to him or he would call them out as he started to do. They saved their faces by firing him. Whether he was right for us or not, he exposed Wilcox. Not sure if any ambitious manager will want to work with us, knowing that the board will save themselves rather than honour promises made. Dont see anything changing unless Glazers and Ineos are out. Bracing myself for a relegation battle next year. :-(
Why did you hire him if you are aware that his style can not fit United.? . This is on the board.
I feel like Bruno had a connection with Amorim. I think this is the nail in the coffin that sees Bruno leave in the summer for more ambition.
Truly hate how this club is run. Darren Fletcher takes over until the next manager victim comes. Cycle starts over. Great job United 🙄
Nothing will change until Ineos and the Glazers go.
This is just Wilcox and Berrada covering their backs.
You would put money on us being in the same place in 18 months.
Fuck….yeah he wasn’t the best but this keep firing folks shit ain’t it. We gotta quit firing the manager and give them time. Even if he did switch formations we STILL need the same positions filled. And even tho we really don’t deserve it right now, we’re in 6th. I’m just tired of this off track nonsense….
Coaches come a leave but the terrible players are still there so who is the next victim is the question?
I actually feel sorry for Amorim, he didn't get what he was promised from the club, the board need looking into and they're the ones who need to change or be changed
If Southgate comes in I'm officially done.
Well done Neville, Scholes et al. You've gotten what you wanted. Hope you're fucking happy.
I'm starting to hate all the "pundits". Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney etc. - sure they were good players, but it's time to shut up and stay irrelevant. Always some nonsense to say by them
Circus FC!! I hate this mess that we’ve become
And now Ruben Amorim to Chelsea, just to bench Garnacho again. It would be glorious.
Wonder how this will impact Bruno Fernandes desire to stay at Man Utd. He’s already mentioned how disappointed he was with the club as he fall he was being pushed out and only rejected Saudi because Amorim showed faith in him.
The falling out with Wilcox is the only way this makes sense to me.
Otherwise we're the club who build a squad that relied on a small number of players for creative spark, and then fired the manager for failing to win while they were out. December/January was always going to be a problem for United.
I could see the argument for giving him time, or for firing him long before this. But this seems very reactive.
What a surprise, Mr “I will leave without compensation” never did and instead got sacked with compensation. Good riddance, he was never going to be good enough.
That being said he isn’t exactly the only problem here, more heads at the board level should roll
I agree that the board made a bad decision in extending Ten Hag, then got Amorim mid season.
But to say they didn’t back him and his idea is wild. Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko - getting rid of Garnancho and Rashford, all of those actions are to back Amorim.
The conversation went very quickly from “Amorim needs to do better/ adapt” to “the board hired a 343 guy then didn’t back him up enough” very very quickly, especially among popular fan channel (looking at you Mark Goldbridge).
If it all comes down to “i need a CM but couldn’t get one” - its the story of “Mourinho needed a CB” and “Ole needed a CDM” all over again. All of these are “what if” while the coaches themselves didn’t do enough with what they had on hand to justify requests.
And no this is not Jason Wilcox burn account
Management is clearly a problem, but this isn't the wrong decision. 37% win rate is one of the worst in United's history, and his inability to adapt didn't work for us.
There isn't a manager at any club that could get away with keeping their job after that presser and a 37% win rate. It's not good enough.
Onwards we go. Nobody is more important than the club and we cannot have the club struggle to get top 6. IT IS IMPERATIVE we get Europe by he end of this season and Amorim had us 4 points off of 14th .
Pause to think about this last part for a bit.
UTFR
Club is a joke. I might not have been his biggest fan but data pointed to growth under Amorim. Why not give him the three years. Why should I bother with the rest of the season if the club has given up just to make an example out of him. There’s a top manager there I give it a decade before he wins the champions league with juve or inter
What a joke my club has become. Once the epitome of a well run club, textbook, we have become a laughing stock. And rightly so.
Guardian reports the executives don’t know who they want now. Yet they said it is the right time to part ways! Based on what exactly?
“United are yet to decide whether to appoint a permanent head coach for the remainder of the season or to do so in the summer. The process will be led by Jason Wilcox, the director of football, and Omar Berrada, the chief executive.”
“Regarding permanent replacements, Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner is understood to be of interest. While the Austrian deploys the same 3-4-3 formation at Palace as Amorim did, he has indicated a willingness to play a back four, so is more flexible than the Portuguese proved.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and the unemployed Enzo Maresca are two more candidates who might be considered. Thomas Tuchel came close to replacing Erik ten Hag in summer 2024 but as England manager would hope to still be leading the national team in July at the World Cup, which may be too late for United to appoint him.”
Same guys who appointed Amorim will appoint the new manager too. What a solace that is. Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome- what a bunch of morons!
