Lol my eyes caught the focus crossed too far at first and I was trying to interpret what a sort of mini skateboard in front of a larger spiky skateboardish shape.
Then it suddenly locked on a less cross-eyed focus and I'm like... oh yeh... of course
Is this like a negative space skateboard? Because all I see is like a huge log with some weird, maybe skateboardish, shape cut out of it, and weird layers inside that skateboardish hole.
magic eye is when your focal point is distant and crossview is when you cross your eyes. if you do cross view on a magic eye it tends to look inverted or indented and vice versa
u/lavaboosted Hey - this is awesome. I'm trying to find software that I can use to make crossview styles of mapped texture stereograms exactly like this one. How did you make it?
Hey, this isn’t a mapped texture actually, just a regular autostereogram made with Open Stereogram.
To make crossview ones with Open Stereogram you just invert the depthmap. My advice is to invert the colors exactly though so find the brightest bright and darkest dark and make them swap. Photopea invert gave bad results for me
Interesting. I thought it was a mapped texture because it was so much easier to see depth details.
Am I misunderstanding that about maps textures? I'm only asking because I'm trying to figure out which style creates an image with the most layers of depth, so you effectively just see a better and more clear 3D image.
You can get really good depth and detail if you have a good depthmap and a texture with the right amount of visual noise. This one did come out really well but it isn’t mapped texture.
Mapped Texture gives you the ability to do the outline of the figurelike this one
Normally I have to really focus to see these and only manage to get it once or twice, but this one was very doable!

Do a kick flip!
🛹
My dumbass thought it was the letter “A” at first, then a parrot or some kind of bird before making out the gnar xD
Birdish for me.
Took a few seconds. But the first time I got one of these!
One of the best magic eyes I've seen. It really pops out of the screen.
Skateboard

Welcome to my life growing up with regular hidden pictures
Cross your eyes the other direction
Wow, i thought you were joking... I never knew there was a difference.
Not sure how i did it... But i squeeze my eyes together and after i got it to show it popped up.

Here’s the regular version https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicEye/s/lfQGLb3OI2
wow I didn't know there was some cross view version of magic eye, just taught those were shitty ones!!!
...well, see, now *that* works great!
You crossed your eyes too far. I did the same. Relax them further and it becomes a single shape
It’s a cross view not a magic eye. Took me a hot minute
Never have been able to see one of these. Magic Eyes, I can see basically instantly...
Same
Oh Lord. I couldn't tell if it was a 3-legged astronaut or Godzilla....
When Lord? When the hell do I get to see the goddamn sailboat!?
Nope, still nothing...
Looks broke
