Cute little utility creature. Obviously meant to help with putting together vivid decks in limited with ambitious splash goals, while also contributing some color itself from time to time.
I think this card is going to be the glue in vivid decks. No matter what you have going on, it can be an additional color when you need it. Turns into a pseudo pump spell for your vivid creatures while also being a decent mana fixer.
if it wasn't, it would be the best card printed for 5 color deck almost ever. Since that would mean all manasources would tap for all colors effectively.
Its so funny to me that the filtering artifacts all have to be limited to "do this once per turn" because it's too OP otherwise.
Probably moreso about the implications of using an ability an infinite amount of times than it is about multiple filterings per turn
Well it makes it into a [[Chromatic lantern]] effect. I wasn't being facetious when I said it'd be too OP. Just in a very unassuming way.
[[Arcum's Astrolabe]] wasn't banned solely because it cantripped, for example.

Limited would just be 5c soup all the time
Right. It's just funny that such a seemingly innocuous ability would hold such power.
It is a delicate balance between direct filtering once and the other times it's 2: to filter and unlimited.
If it wasn't this and badger mole go infinite mana instantly
Edit wait im and idiot badger mole is only if it taps for mana
I mean, if they didn't, they would literally just make all your mana work for any color

At some point we really need to get a payoff for having scarecrows in every single set lol
There is and it’s called [[Reaper King]]! /s

This will be a bit annoying with the vivid cards, because you will need to manually use it beforehand.
They put in cool scarecrow cards in the standard but not the reaper king himself T_T
sooooo the door in the background .... you are far from home little buddy
If not for the once per turn it would have been great in some kinan lists
