The real question is does this triggering a triggered ability for a second time count as a triggered ability? So if I've got 2 of them, do I get the triggered ability 1 for the original, 2 for the first twinflame, 3 for the second twinflame, then 4 and 5 as they trigger off each other?
In 604.2 under your link, static abilities create continuous effects which can be replacement effects. So saying this isn’t a replacement effect isn’t really correct AFAIK
But it isn’t a replacement effect. The static ability generates a continuous effect that alters the rules for triggering.
614.1 specifies the rules text formatting for replacement effects and this wording doesn’t fall under any of them. The rest of 614 also enumerates the different types of replacement effects and doesn’t list additional triggers.
No. This is a replacement effect, not a triggered ability. Two of them would cause three triggers to be put on the stack; they themselves don't have triggers.
Winning my prerelease pod with this sweet flush five deck I've put together. The banana that I can bring with me to triple all my creatures power is just a little OP
it might because it doesn't specify elemental creature, and it would be an elemental spell on the stack (like a kindred card) but I feel like something else is preventing it.
The Twinflames specifically care about Elemental permanents. Cascade is a triggered ability part of the casting of a spell, not a permanent on the battlefield.
109.2. If a spell or ability uses a description of an object that includes a card type or subtype, but doesn’t refer to a specific zone or include the word “card,” “spell,” “source,” or “scheme,” it means a permanent of that card type or subtype on the battlefield.
I'm not super up on the lore around this set...has Ashling been hanging out with the Prismari, or are the Lorwyn elementals just also super into Drama?
Roaming Throne but for elementals. Evoke this with [[Ashling, the Limitless]] and create 2 Twinflame Travellers. Next thing you Evoke may just end the game. Rottenmouth Vipor would be 276 damage.
I’ve seen some very interesting/good elementals, but they’re all 4+ mana. Are there any good low cmc elementals that could make a deck work in standard?
Just thought of the perfect existing arena example. With [[sephiroth fabled soldier]] it does not create a separate triggered ability for "if this is the fourth time" it just happens as part of the ability it is modifying. I can tell you this as a sephiroth player, "if this is the fourth time" does not go on the stack by itself, it happens as part of the fourth ping trigger resolved
"Additional Time" and not legendary. This can get out of hand.

I believe this is a replacement effect, so they wouldn't trigger of eachother.
Not a replacement effect. Those are defined in 614. Replacement Effects and generally have “instead”, “skip”, “prevent”or “as ~ enters”
This is a static ability.

I can’t tell if you made a card up, or the bot
They're making a reference to Balatro.
its ok bro doesnt even know who humpty dumpty is
Been a while since I was excited for a set. I can't wait to make an elementals deck
Lol this ability doesn’t count as a triggered ability right? My brain hurts thinking how that would work
This is a “static ability”?
This is a replacement ability. Triggered abilities always start with at, when, or whenever
Playing daily For 25 Years lol One day I’ll learn the rules
You had it right, it’s a static ability not a replacement effect.
Replacement effect.
Holy shit they made the comedy and tragedy masks into a creature.
TagiComic faces.
I like it!
I dont know all the elemental stuff going on, but the chances that this is pretty fire in limited are good.

love me a good signpost uncommon
Would this trigger with [[maelstrom wonderer]] ?
No I don't think so, because it would be a spell on the stack where this card would not see it.

twinflame doesn't indicate permanent, just "elemental"

Man, this art rules. And the ability too of course, definitely going to explore elementals once this is out.
Double sacrifice triggers in the new Ashling 💪💪💪
Seriously tho, this is probably a NUTS upgrade for that precon
It also doubles up on the pay WUBRG trigger at end step.
lol Lmao even

If you evoke an elemental with out it doesn't do anything but the evoke trigger to sac it happens twice too which is funny
Is this our first ever uncommon-rarity trigger doubler?

If I'm not mistaken, the adding RRRR ability from that 1 drop that just got revealed would count, here...
I dont think so. "If this is the third time" is a line in the ability.
Yes, but the 'If' would imply it's a triggered ability, even if it's tied to an activated ability. I'm not an expert though, so I could be wrong.

Its missing at when or whenever, somewhere in the sentence. So "if" isnt the defining word. Like "if at the beginning of your upkeep" is one.
I'm sure the cult is happy they got a card named after them.
Can't be the first time, right?
