I've got getting the rubber bands apart no problem, I think it would be cool to be able to lock them up again. Has anyone done this? Or is it even possible?
I saw him lecture a couple times. Once at PCAM back around 2000, again much later. He has such a mind for tricks involving the spatial properties of different materials. He's an excellent story teller and entertainer. Impressive magician.
Don't know if it's quite what you're looking for. But in a similar vein, Danny Goldsmith's Coin Cuffs is a pretty incredible looking visual with two silver dollars.
Yes Dan Harlan teaches it on vol. 1 of his rubberband magic dvds
He also has a great method for making the two bands melt together. I think it's on the same dvd.
And he also has a killer mullet
LMAO! I forgot about that mullet!
Dan Harlan is a treasure. I remember hearing he wasn’t doing well and I hope he’s doing much better.

Just take the batteries out of the bands and put them in backwards, that should reverse the polarity
and I've been using regular magnets all this time. looking into electromagnetic equipment right now.
Isn't that what crazy Sams handcuffs is?
Also theres definitely a bunch of ways to do this
Crazy Sam’s handcuffs is a different method of crazy man’s handcuffs that allows you to separate them but is fundamentally different.
Joe Rindfleisch has a really good routine teaching a couple of ways to do this. I think it's on his Penguin Live video.
I do it, DVD many years ago called link its how I set it up
I have an old routine I can show you, DM me ancd we can talk in detail, but dan harlan would be the best source regardless.

I’ve seen it done.
I’ve done it for years, but it’s something I threw together myself. I don’t know of a source for it.
