Cats aren't babies, they're tiny CEOs on a permanent power nap, We should all sleep like a cat, deeply, smugly, and fully confident the staff has everything handled.

I can confirm. Aren’t all our cats our little babies ? They sure act like babies aside from the fact they shit in a box

Sleep, eat, shit in a box, run around like crazy, go back to sleep.

    20 points GalaxyPowderedCat

They are just like me, fr fr

(to be fair, we shit in porcelain bowls...close enough)

The saying probably came around when they were selling heroin as baby sleeping aids. So really the saying should be “slept like a baby, on heroin”

    8 points GalaxyPowderedCat

Do you have a source for this? I like historic linguistics, and it sounds plausible but I need to check.

    No I’m just being silly

    parent root
    1 points Electrical_One7665

Of course you’re being silly. It likely would have been cocaine, opium or whiskey to knock them out.

Teething tonics with opium were a thing. Rubbing brandy or whiskey on sore gums too.

As a new aunt, it's because once they fall asleep you can fully pick it up and shift their posture and they're like fully comatose, no reaction. It's like magic. I'll wake up if someone opens the door to my bedroom.

That's why you say you sleep like a log.

My cat wakes up every 30 minutes because some dumb bird chirped outside the window

My cat wakes up all the time mid-nap.

Because I wake him up all the time to pet him and kiss his little head.

    parent
    6 points nahimaalum

Then they do the same by waking you up at 4 in the morning?!

To be fair, from the cat's perspective, he has plenty of responsibilities.

Stand up, licking my lips, turn around, lay back down and get another couple hours.

The older I get, the more I want to spend my time unconscious.

    parent
  • 1 points sqplanetarium

Sometimes you need a second nap to rest up after your first nap.

Sometimes I sleep like a literal baby, sometimes like a cat.
