My marpe was installed on september 15th. My ortho had me do 1 turn a day for 30 days. I got my split around turn 25. Split was confirmed with scan. He then had me do 1 turn every five days for 2 months.
My most recent appointment was December 15th where he said my cross bite was not even close to being resolved and told me to switch one turn every other day for 4 more weeks.
I read online that the normal expansion phase is 2-6 weeks and I’m going to be at 4 months soon. Trying to trust the process but man this thing is getting annoying.
It’s the new normal, turning slower has become a trend -> less problems, risks & same results. Especially when it comes to getting a split -> higher chances.
Did you have a piezo cut ? And how old are you?
2-6 weeks is way too short for MARPE usually. Most people do expand for some months. However, one turn every five days is a slower than normal turn protocol, but I guess it wouldn't hurt. Some top providers these days prescribe two turns a week post split, which is similar.
I had SARPE w 2-3 turns per day. Massive dental tipping and thus asymmetric expansion. Do it slooooooooooooow.
I turned for about 3 months. More aggressive to start then slowed down as I got closer to final expansion
How many mm are you doing?
Slower is better and the results are showing it. Less problems/risks, same results, less rebound/regression. Also less of a diastema in front.
Lot of orthos are recommending a turn every 4-5 days, some even do one turn a week. My ortho does one turn every 5 days. My expansion time he said will be around 6-9 months but depends if he can get full 10mm for me
2-6 weeks is way too fast and often results in 2-3mm regression if not more especially if the device doesn't sit in the mouth for extra 6-12 months.
