Picked up some Taylor Swift vinyl for my nephew for xmas. Should probably include the gift receipt. Regret driving by Lee's Sandwiches and not going through the drive thru.
I haven't seen this cover of Norwegian Wood (one of my fav books!) Very pretty. Anyone else read Murakami? I feel like my life is just re-reading Murakami.
There was a period in my 20s where I read every single thing he put out that I could get my hands on, but the only one I’ve ever re-read was South of the Border, West of the Sun. I think I only like his “normal” works - I couldn’t slog through IQ84 no matter how many times I picked it up.
Have you read the short story, On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning? It’s my favorite of his.
The two I read were 1Q84 and Wind Up Bird Chronicle. Both were fantastic. Never got around to Norwegian Wood even tho itsa lot shorter than those two behemoths.
Not a fan of those covers compared to the old editions.
People are crazy and aren’t reading my product listing. I specialize in recreating like tromp de l'oeil surrealist images on shaped thermoplastic and turning them into wearable hats.
I’m really open and transparent in listing description that images are 2D and printed in thermoplastic. Somebody buys literally the cheapest item and expects it to be an actually clock, 8x the size, when I give actually measurements & pictures of it on both mannequins & humans. And there’s people expecting my butterfly hats to be made out of trained, live butterflies. 🙄
And people buying a custom hat wearing it to a party, saying they love it to other attendees, that want to return it because they don’t need it anymore…. If times are tough, work within your budget, don’t try to scam a small business.
There is LITERALLY only a couple surreal hat makers in the world. I literally have pics of you at the party wearing my hat that you said was so disappointing that you threw it away without wearing it or taking pics of the packaging.
Like really. At EVERY surreal ball, I have several customers sending me updates and I’m usually friends with the hostess.
Are there any decent venues in LA left where you can book for a kids party for under 1 grand that would also be fun for adults?
We are looking for something that could accommodate 60-70 people, has an indoors in case it rains in January, but also an outdoor space for activities and bounce house for kids. Party will likely be 3-9 with kids staying for the beginning portion, and adults going into the night. Allows outside food and alcohol for adults. Does this place exist? Or do you practically need to own your own home in Los Angeles to throw a decent party without breaking the bank?
Considered my ranch but it’s a minimum of 3100 plus 18% service fee
I have a promo code for Little Cesar’s Pizza which expires today. $2 large pizza cheese or pepperoni no modifications. Lmk if you wanna pizza!pizza! 🍕 I’ll DM to whoever asks but i only one code

At least on Friday, I will enjoy a movie and the Academy museum, even if I still get wet some.
Spent my lunch break at work getting the car ready for the rain. Windows clean, Rain X applied, interior freshened up. Got new wiper blades to put on tonight.
My friends and I want to do the thing where you eat 12 grapes under a table in a minute at midnight on New Year's Day. We did it last year and even though we got through them, the green grapes were huge. Are there any places that sell smaller grapes?
Go for red grapes… OR see if you can find champagne grapes. Maybe Whole Foods or Bristol or Erewhon. I feel like people like to add them to charcuterie boards this time of year, someone is bound to be selling them.
My girlfriend wants to go somewhere nice for NYE's, but looking at places it seems like the places with pre-fixe menus are kind of not worth it? Like we'd be better off going to an equivalently nice restaurant that isn't running a special menu for the night. Feels like there's no extra value or extra special food for the ones having events.
Is my assessment right? I usually never go out on new years because I don't drink a ton. Is it better to go somewhere to a set menu?
My ex and I are friends and still give each other Christmas/birthday gifts.
This Christmas he said he got me some cookies.. I just received a package: it's almost 3 fucking kg of cookies!! Goddamn

I saw post about how there are great fish tacos at decent price somewhere around Culver City,

and if you are in Pasadena are you all really driving to Culver City for some tacos?
I guess I am now an old boomer, but fuck that, anything more than a few miles has to be fine dining sit down for me to even consider going.
Sometimes I make a hang out out of it with family or friends. I don’t mind seeking out good food, but at the same time, I’m like how the others said too. I’ll try to stick local midweek, and venture further out on weekends when traffic is “lighter.”
If it looks really good I'll keep it in mind, and if I'm in the area I'll go. But for the most part I don't go out of my way to visit other people's food recs, people's opinions on food vary so wildly. I've been to so many places because someone online raved about it only for it to be meh.
Depends, one of my favorite things about LA is how big it is and how much there is to explore. On a weeknight I'm not driving across town just to eat somewhere.
Weekends for sure, but I'll try to pair it with another activity like going to a nearby museum or checking out a bookstore/interesting shop, something along those lines.
I have enough good food options near me that I don't see a point in trekking across town for something. If there's something that looks really compelling but is far away, I'll throw it on some list. The next time I happen to be in that area, I might go check it out.
I end up visiting most corners of LA (outside of the valley and the west side) in my usual course of travels. So I'll keep a spot in mind if I end up there. Or sometimes you just want something new and tasty so you make the drive 🤷♂️
I'd been whining that I could not afford the GPU (5090) that would require me to upgrade my existing CPU (5800X3D) and I would be stuck on the 7900XTX and its meh RT performance for awhile. AMD subsequently released a more RT performant GPU but it has less VRAM and isn't as performant in traditional raster. Lucky(?) for me, I have 2nd PC and its 5700X3D CPU wasn't being maxed out by its 6900XT. Youtube creators are really pessimistic about the near-future of PC building so with Micro Center's open-box inventory and pricing, I was able to let FOMO take over. Even with RAM prices quadrupling, GPU prices "falling" to MSRP makes the total system cost about the same as it was at the beginning of 2025. It's still not a great time to build a gaming PC but with Micron removing the Crucial brand of RAM and SSDs and Nvidia rumored to be slashing consumer GPU production by 40%, I don't see myself being able to afford to build a PC that would provide a meaningful performance uplift until AM6 in 2028.
some do but some don't. it's very weird. but as mentioned already, you can let the front staff know or just use the one in the breakfast room if they have one there.
I dropped off a box of Porto’s at my boyfriend’s parents and they were PUMPED but embarrassed their house was messy lmao. Idc if you dusted, I just want you to like me. Hopefully it works 🤞🤞🤞
I don't think they're planning on expanding the number of gates. I think it will be a good thing. I love flying out of burbank but the terminal itself sucks.
I can’t leave for more than ONE night before my neighbors dump all THEIR garbage on my yard!?! They keep leaving fridges, washers, bikes, baby strollers etc.
Which is perplexing since it takes a lot more work to drag it to MY yard/curb than putting it in front of their house. They have the curb space. Plus they park their car in front of my house, not theirs, so people can’t even see the stuff they leave behind.
And because they keep doing this, random people keep showing up at my place looking for free shit. When sucks since I run a home business and get REALLY expensive packages dropped off all the time. And UPS & DHL hasn’t been delivering my stuff to my doorway lately. Sometimes it’s in my driveway etc near that curb.
Luckily I’m at home most of the time. But a few times a package got delivered, I didn’t get a notification for a while, and there’s people looking at my huge deliveries trying to figure out if it’s also up for grabs.
AND my neighbors once tried to tear down my yard fence and build their own to claim more of MY property!?!! Of course they lied to the contractors that they double checked property lines and had notified me so that went nowhere.
But the AUDACITY. How many years are they going to hold a grudge against me because I refused to be their unpaid nanny/handyman!?!! This is freaking insane!
I’m so freaking busy, but I work from home and since I don’t have kids and am a single female they seem to think they entitled to my time/space/property.
The FIRST day I met the dad of the household he angrily confronted me and told me to dress more like a “lady”.
I was wearing khakis & a polo to garden, usually I dress more camp or drag like!
Luckily he got kicked or went back overseas because his family hated him. I was told he was a nasty guy, but the rest of them aren’t likable much either.
The rest of my family called me trashy & demanded I buy newer cars because seeing my cars in the background of their photos interfered with the baller lifestyle they wanted to portray.
The thing was I unfortunately had bought new cars I was waiting on, that arrived almost immediately after that confrontation so I think maybe they feel like they got their way due to their demands.
Pretty sure the sons in the family work in the cannabis industry.
I would be wasting so much time trying to figure out ways to retaliate. At the very least I'd maybe post on Nextdoor or Facebook or Offerup whenever there's junk out front and tell people to inquire at their door for more things.
Got kinda cold cocked into giving friends a ride to LAX tomorrow so that's something to look forward to, gonna make em drive there and I'll just suffer on the drive back
As for the orphans Meetup, thinking the roost at 7pm on the 24th, it's cash only so plan accordingly.
I pretty much got caught in the moment where I couldn't say no lol
They asked if I was free Tuesday/if I had plans or work and I said no and then they dropped that they were hoping I could give em a ride to the airport.... And I'm like well I talked myself into a corner pretty much...
I brought up the flyaway but they didn't want to ride a bus lol apparently Uber prices are more than they're second flight
It's all good though, I'll bank a airport ride for later
that's what friends are for. maybe i need new friends LOL but i also just like riding solo to the airport. i agree that uber prices are ridiculous but not wanting to ride the bus is extreme lol
I am dropping my partner off at LAX tomorrow morning. His flight isn't until like 10:30am but I'm bringing him early. He can chill in a lounge until his flight. I do not want to be late to work.
Clients are supposed to be off for the next two-weeks, but of course I suddenly have feedback on a project waiting for me in my inbox at 7:30am this morning.
Woke up to find out a kid passed away thus morning by Hit & Run driver involving DUI. The offending driver was taken into custody. It's near me at a familiar intersection.
Got my groceries done for the end of the year. I realized I don't have any honey that was a major thing especially for cakes. So got that in. Going to make fruitcake. I dont have an oven so it's pancake.
I recall in my tween youth. I've been out late during winter breaks no adult supervision. Closer to home most likely friends house or convenience store.
Maybe this is petty/unfair, but seeing business owners respond to reviews in a passive aggressive or snarky way is enough to dissuade me from ever trying them out.
Well, im spending Xmas in a motel. Bipolar mother had an episode and I feel bad for my dad but I can’t be around my mom. Shes leaving for Mexico for 3 weeks so until then, motel and Chinese take out (the Jewish tradition)
Im on a pretty rough budget but im gonna grab that coffee anyway. Its been really stressful and I need a sweet treat. Im also gonna see if commissions help out
I got myself a sweet treat on Saturday. The Viktor Bene's bakery in Gelson's in Valley Village has the best chocolate rugelach cookies, so I got myself a box. They're pricy, but it's my Christmas treat to myself.
I’m likely spending my Christmas alone after a series of unfortunate events. I’m too tired and down to deal with LAX and flying to see my family last minute for a way too pricey plane ticket.
What’s something fun for a 33 year old dude on Christmas Eve/Day? I’d rather not spend it fully by myself.
Oh that would be a good thing for me to do. I’m having trouble finding much info about it - do you happen to know if there’s a thread or something with details?
I'm also going to be by myself because my fiance will be with his grandparents at my encouraging. I don't have any vacation time left, so I will be staying back. I'm driving to Vegas after work closes on Wednesday and then driving home on Thursday. lol. The rain will slow things down a little, but at least I'll have stuff to do, good food, and a free hotel room. Probably won't even leave the casino honestly.
I honestly love rainy/muddy hikes. I used to do some hardcore portaging in similar conditions and that may be a fun challenge. At least the trails will be empty!
I enjoy hiking in the rain but around here, it damages the trail. Fire roads and gravely trails are ok but clay and dirt are subject to a lot of erosion .Kind of a freak thing but someone I know broke her pelvis when she was hurt by a boulder dislodged from the hillside, which was softened from the rain.
Maybe look into volunteering somewhere to feed/help the needy on Christmas! Maybe not fun exactly, but could be a nice and fulfilling use of your time during the rainy holiday.
Just going over-budget, mostly. I have a very small family but at least my mom and dad will be home. If anything I could go hiking and fishing and hopefully clear my mind a bit more successfully than I could here, alone.
I love the PNW but if it’s pouring rain here for the next 4 days then, well.. it’ll be fairly similar to back home where at least I have my folks to spend time with, haha.
I'm not mad that she defended herself, I'm mad that the reports subtly justify using the car as a weapon, especially a larger SUV.
Let's not encourage people to use their cars as weapons, especially G-Wagons.
She said the adrenaline of the moment caused her to unintentionally strike the suspects’ white Honda.
This is false, she straight up aimed for them. Come on now, people buy huge SUVs because they are scared of everyone around them and are waiting for this exact situation.
I really hope she doesn't drive on public roads again she'll only be empowered to get an even larger vehicle and see other drivers as even greater threats.
I hold my judgement at someone who is expected to act rational when their family's life is threatened. Our best alternative other than public opinion is allowing a jury of peers to decide whether her behavior is acceptable.
Our friend's car was stolen in a mall parking lot. 13 days later, 1 day before GAP insurance declared a loss and paid it out, the car was returned to the mall parking lot - janked up a bit. I guess at least they had the courtesy to return it.
Anyone going to watch any games in the WC26? Just applied for the lottery if i don’t make it, I’m planning on buying a ticket, anyone else going? If yes, which game(s)?
I was there last year on the day they lit the Rockefeller tree. It was a MADHOUSE. Then I realized part of the chaos was because Luigi had just killed the United Healthcare CEO nearby that same morning. Wild day out there.
Just moved back home with parents after finishing college. I’m so tired of being in the closet when I’m living here. I miss my boyfriend. Alas.
Picked up some Taylor Swift vinyl for my nephew for xmas. Should probably include the gift receipt. Regret driving by Lee's Sandwiches and not going through the drive thru.

I scored with finding 1Q84 from Goodwill years back. But yeah, the colors on these are pretty but I agree, I do love the old editions.

Does Cookie Monster have an accent, like Polish or something? Cuz he’s from New York

I didn’t know about the rain the next two days and now I feel so fucked
Why didn’t I run more errands during the weekend
Yep. I am cancelling my running around by SoFi. I pretty much have everything I want or need by now, and there's no point in wondering around a collection of discount stores just because none of them are near me. I would be soaked and uncomfortable.
At least on Friday, I will enjoy a movie and the Academy museum, even if I still get wet some.
Because weekend errands suck! It’s super crowded and things get restocked on like Tuesdays! So you’re set. There is no bad weather only bad clothing!
It’s more like 3.5 days; late Tuesday into Friday. You still have tonight and most of tomorrow!
Spent my lunch break at work getting the car ready for the rain. Windows clean, Rain X applied, interior freshened up. Got new wiper blades to put on tonight.
Hopefully Santa gets through the wetness OK!
new job kicking my ass but I'm learning new stuff
Congrats on the new job!

How dare my director make us do work before our 5 days off
Oh no… boo your director 👎🏽
Rude
Western Bacon Cheeseburger was ten bucks at Carls, but its still an S-tier burger.
I think you’re right. The only time that the fixed menus are worth it (to me) is when they offer a show of some sort or live music.
New internet sucks. Bring back the old internet
My ex and I are friends and still give each other Christmas/birthday gifts.
This Christmas he said he got me some cookies.. I just received a package: it's almost 3 fucking kg of cookies!! Goddamn
kg? druggie or european?
both
This is some conscious uncoupling. Good on y’all!
Naturally, he wants you to gain weight!
lol, little does he know I'm quite successful at that without his help

yup - i list the new restaurants I want to try geographically - valley, DT, Long Beach, etc - the next time i'm over there - I try it
I’m the same here on weekends too
I have enough good food options near me that I don't see a point in trekking across town for something. If there's something that looks really compelling but is far away, I'll throw it on some list. The next time I happen to be in that area, I might go check it out.

It will work 💯😂
It better!! I drove an hour to drop it off lol
I flew out of Burbank for the first time instead of LAX…safe to say I’m in love 🥰
No! Burbank is a bad airport…..very, very bad.
If you hate Burbank you will absolutely detest Long Beach Airport, cause getting through security in < 10 mins fucking blows!!
Oh sorry I meant to say…Burbank was HORRIBLE! No one should go to that airport; they should all go to LAX and sit in the horseshoe.
I’ll take one for the team and continue going to Burbank. Ya know, out of selflessness
It's such a good time ain't it?
I was floored just how quick it was to arrive at the airport and get to the doors. LAX could never!
Too bad they're now planning on remodeling it! Leave Burbank Airport alone!!!
I don't think they're planning on expanding the number of gates. I think it will be a good thing. I love flying out of burbank but the terminal itself sucks.
Yeah o had friends fly in to Burbank and they described it as the weirdest airport they’ve ever been in… I haven’t seen it for myself
everyone is loving the monday today

Supposed to be a wet one that day so be safe!
Oh you’re giving rides to the airport tomorrow? What perfect timing…
Also can’t make it to the roost sadly, flying out tomorrow lol
y'all are way too nice giving rides to the airport. flyaway and ubers are right there lol

Which one?
Through the California Earthquake Authority.

I recall in my tween youth. I've been out late during winter breaks no adult supervision. Closer to home most likely friends house or convenience store.

Drunk drivers should get harsher punishment.
Can't say I have total confidence in the level of traffic enforcement, either. Or in the safety of our approach to road design, etc.
A punishment that sticks. There are unfortunately repeat offenders who've had their license revoked still driving doing the same thing.
Gifts ready to be picked up from Target but after work I want to just go home and take my pants off.
Good morning! Not sure how I only found out about this cover, but I love this song and it'll be on repeat this Monday.
Why do some bus driver drive like they are a Nascar driver!? I know your late but yesh we wanna get home/ work safely!😬
Because city pays their accident payouts
modern busses seem to have very touchy accelerators or brakes, it doesn't seem to be intentional.
The way you think the busses drive is how everyone from Northern California thinks you drive haha
Happy Monday nice people 🎉
un happy Monday more like it
Also long time no see
Maybe this is petty/unfair, but seeing business owners respond to reviews in a passive aggressive or snarky way is enough to dissuade me from ever trying them out.
Truly, they are shooting themselves in the foot but some people just can't help themselves.
Nah. I’m the same. Shows unprofessionalism and how’d they’d handle a legit complaint. .
just want to share that California has some amazing native flora and it doesn't get talked about enough.

California Plants by Matt Ritter is a solid book if anyone is interested
Merry Xmas and happy Hanukkah, everyone!!
Well, im spending Xmas in a motel. Bipolar mother had an episode and I feel bad for my dad but I can’t be around my mom. Shes leaving for Mexico for 3 weeks so until then, motel and Chinese take out (the Jewish tradition)
Happy winter solstice!
From this day forward the days will be getting longer.
Im both happy and sad 😭😭😭
Thank God
boo. I don't know why but I love it when the sun sets before 5pm.
i do too!! days getting longer just remind me that we will have to change the time again in a few months and suffer through the heat again :(
Cause you're TOUCHED in the head
I understand. I like that cozy feeling too.
Edit- NEVERMIND! Not available in LA. Now I’m sad.
Today is Big Macs for $2 day!!! Gotta use the McDonald’s app. See you there and yes, I do love them. Grew up on ‘em and it’s my crack!!
Just checked. Not only my app.
I wonder if Tesla drivers ever review the video of all the people honking at them and flipping them off, and feel shame for their horrible driving.
[deleted]
Like an 'It was their fault, but fuck you anyway' sort of thing?
Bc why are Tesla drivers the dumbest mfers on earth??
Yeah, I don't know what happened there. Maybe some marketing phenomenon.
They probably get off on that footage lets be real here
Right. Maybe they verify their existence through people being mad at them. Those people can't be angry at nothing, right?
Im on a pretty rough budget but im gonna grab that coffee anyway. Its been really stressful and I need a sweet treat. Im also gonna see if commissions help out
Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen.
A present, like Christmas.
I got myself a sweet treat on Saturday. The Viktor Bene's bakery in Gelson's in Valley Village has the best chocolate rugelach cookies, so I got myself a box. They're pricy, but it's my Christmas treat to myself.
Love a treat myself to coffee when I’m down moment
Happy Monday:) Rode DTLA with a group of Vintage BMX bike riders on Saturday
Does anyone do or recommend someone to do a couple of headshots for linkedin?
I’m likely spending my Christmas alone after a series of unfortunate events. I’m too tired and down to deal with LAX and flying to see my family last minute for a way too pricey plane ticket.
What’s something fun for a 33 year old dude on Christmas Eve/Day? I’d rather not spend it fully by myself.
Manny is planning a meetup at the Roost on Christmas Eve. I can’t attend but he’s a good egg and you should go meet some threadeños in person.
Oh that would be a good thing for me to do. I’m having trouble finding much info about it - do you happen to know if there’s a thread or something with details?
I'm not a good egg, I'm a deviled egg
But yeah lil holidays orphans Meetup at the roost on los Feliz Dec 24 at 7pm, it's a cash only dive bar
Do you know if this place has any good non-alcoholic options other than beer?
I mean I think they got sodas
Calling /u/MannyAPH to share the deets on the meet up!
Commenting for interest in this event!!
Go see a movie. Normally I'd say hiking but the whether won't be good for that unless you like mud and rockfall.
And get some good Chinese food.
I honestly love rainy/muddy hikes. I used to do some hardcore portaging in similar conditions and that may be a fun challenge. At least the trails will be empty!
I enjoy hiking in the rain but around here, it damages the trail. Fire roads and gravely trails are ok but clay and dirt are subject to a lot of erosion .Kind of a freak thing but someone I know broke her pelvis when she was hurt by a boulder dislodged from the hillside, which was softened from the rain.
sBinalla
Chinese take out!!!!
Maybe look into volunteering somewhere to feed/help the needy on Christmas! Maybe not fun exactly, but could be a nice and fulfilling use of your time during the rainy holiday.
Just to let you know, it's supposed to rain pretty hard during that time. So I dont know if you really want to venture out into that.
Yeah I saw that. I’m from the PNW so the rain doesn’t bother me. Maybe I should just fly home since I think most people will be indoors.
How bad we talking? Going into debt? Or going over budget for your monthly living?
If you can swing it, I’d go home to be with family in the PNW.
We left on thanksgiving day and flew up to Portland.
I saw my mom, siblings, their spouses and their kids plus my family. It was so much fun.
And I love PNW.
Leaving on Christmas Day might be cheaper than the days before.
There's just not going to be alot of options, besides drinking at a bar or going to the movies. Whatever you do, be safe

This scenario is precisely why I bought my tank
This was a less than lethal defense against the burglary
I disagree, cars when used as weapons are lethal.

Could any of the weather people give insight to the shape of these clouds? I don’t think it’s from skywriting :/
The conspiracy theorist in me would say it's some sort of electromagnetic resonance from the top-secret HAARP project
The old Santa Susana Field Lab, Point Mugu, and Port Hueneme are all in that direction too. 🤔
Hello Friends! 🙂
New Odyssey Trailer just dropped and as a perennial Christopher Nolan stan, I'm pumped.

Anyone going to watch any games in the WC26? Just applied for the lottery if i don’t make it, I’m planning on buying a ticket, anyone else going? If yes, which game(s)?
I'm doing it but in texas, ATL, and miami. Wasn't really interested in any games here.
I’m going to Atlanta too!
Oh hell yeah, our original plan was to drive cross country into all the cities including Los Angeles but ticket prices were too expensive 😂
That’d have been an awesome plan if ticket prices weren’t ridiculous
I hope you get in and get some tickets! I'll let you know if I get any. I think we find out February?
Yes please do let me know! And yes February 6th
RemindMe! February 6th
ITS MONDAY!
IT'S MANIC!
Guess what chicken butt? I'm off all week so your powers have to hold over me.
walked around NYC yesterday, saw the big tree and all the decorations. So festive
So cool!! How is the weather? Did you get snow?
chilly but not brutally cold, was sunny yesterday and today but some mixed precip incoming next few days
I was there last year on the day they lit the Rockefeller tree. It was a MADHOUSE. Then I realized part of the chaos was because Luigi had just killed the United Healthcare CEO nearby that same morning. Wild day out there.
Allegedly
True! Thank you
I love LA but no US city does Christmas quite like NYC does.
Riverside has been named as best public Christmas light display.
Lovely! Was watching Home Alone 2: Lost in New York yesterday lol. Would like to visit during the holidays with my family. Have fun!
