Running or Rollerblading down Ocean south to the pier, hopping on the boardwalk, continuing down thru Venice, out to end of the Venice, and back is possibly my most favoritist thing to do in the world. Cleans and clears the brain of all the weeks events. I love it so much. Nothing makes me happier than seeing pictures of it and seeing other people enjoying it as well.
For a few years now, I’ve been parking up at the Annenburg and walking the waterline down the sand to the pier and hang out there for awile and play some pinball, have a little lunch before I take a VEO back to the Annenburg. Sometimes I’ll walk all the way down to Venice and then take the VEO back. I think it’s about a three or 4 mile walk before I jump on the bike to get back to my car. I’m not as young as I used to be, so that’s pretty good.
Don’t tell my kids, but I used to go in that store called Sugar at the very end of the line of stores in Venice and get a big bag of candy. If you weighed it and timed it exactly perfect, you could slowly eat it all your walk back and you’ll pop that very last chocolate covered cinnamon bear in your mouth right as you drive home.
I love parking in the lots just south of the pier, really easy in and out. Then ride my board down to Venice, grab a beer and lunch and chill. It’s such a. Nice way to spend your day
It should really be redeveloped to a mix user. Actually all of 3rd street promenade. You can’t depend on tourism. And even though the sm place is small it’s not inviting
Well if you believed Reddit, Santa Monica is nothing but a Hell pit of homeless armies occupying the whole town. A lot of people are very invested in this narrative
To be fair, there are a lot of homeless people loitering around the train station often using hard drugs openly or clearly in need of mental healthcare. But the odds of anything happening to you in particular from those homeless people are practically zero, which is the other half of the coin that they fail to understand.
People expect places like the pier to be empty because No OnE GoEs To ThE BeAcH iN DeCeMbEr, and malls to be full of people fist-fighting with brass knuckles to double-park their SUVs in the handicap sports in front of Target.
Bacon wrapped with peppers and grilled onions, at the pier, great stuff.
That reminds me of the time I got to do a job around a horserace track. They apparently hire a falconer to keep the pigeons away from the crowd. I thought that was so cool.

profile name checks out.
Remember the really big novelty thumb Pee Wee has in Pee Wees Big Adventure to help with hitchhiking.
I bring one of those….but not for hitchhiking…if you know what I mean.

Aside from everything, it’s kind of insane how on December 21, we can literally chill by the beach on the boardwalk. I love LA.
I had a really lovely walk along the bluffs in Palos Verdes. A ton of people out, too.
Visiting my in laws in Canada right now where it's -6 and regretting leaving LA lol
woof! hoping you can come back to some warmth after this storm passes!
In a just world Santa Monica would look more like Copacabana
Instead they put a giant parking lot on the beach.
sad but true
The sidewalk design on Colorado Ave. between 5th and the pier kinda reminds me of Copacabana Beach, despite being different colors.
I just don’t see the purpose of sm place. A school needs to take it over or something.

A school?!
I know what an idea… oh wait they already did with pali high
Sears HS
People are out doing things on a weekend?! Crazy!!! 🤯
yeah, people on reddit need to go outside and touch grass once in a while 😂

SaMo residents over at r/lametro unironically have this narrative ever since the Expo Lime extended to their neighborhood.

Lmao and you cherrypicking one of the most visited tourist spots in the city refutes this so-called narrative?
Spoken like someone who spends no time in santa monica lmao. south pass flair? checks out.
Ahh yes, because of my flair, I can only speak on matters relevant to South “Pass” and not call out generally stupid logic. You got me!!
Walk a few street backs at night and you won’t be that far of from the homeless description
It’s Christmas weekend.

These posts are really fucking dumb
They need some dogs on that pier, wayyy too many seagulls. You're going to get crapped on
That's good luck if you do.
Please leave your dogs at home. Do enjoy a hot dog though.
I like a mustard and onions. They could have trained dogs, like at airports, not some idiot's unleashed dog
