• man. feel for him. really do. his injury record is pretty bad at this age. this one might be especially bad. injury like that without any contact is never a good sign. knee looked twisted. hope its not as bad as it looks, but fear it is.

Saw a lad do the same thing in school. Studs stuck in really wet grass. His whole body turned other than his right leg from the knee down. He was in serious pain and on crutches for three months.

Same with a friend but he tore shitloads of ligament in the knee. Took more than a year to recover from

My Dad did this. His foot stayed facing north his whole body turned south. Tore every ligament and broke his leg.

This happened to me in 10th grade. Backpedaling on defense, went to pivot and the studs told my right leg to just stay there. POP. All cartilage in my knee separated from the bone. Couldn’t even be fixed. My knee was as big as my fat head. Crutches for 4mo/took the next season off. I played again my senior year and for years after, but I was never that fast again.YNWA

    Round studs maybes??

    1991 Copa Mundials. So, yep.

Fuck thats awful. My dad had his knee blow out in his 20’s from landing wrong—same type of movement as everyone else here is saying—body turning but knee not following. Lost his ACL and had to have a total replacement years later. I don’t wish that pain on anyone. I hope Bradley is ok. Poor lad.

I did the same thing playing footy, i was pretty much doing the same thing as Connor- running down the wing and trying to clear the ball and my foot got stuck in a divot ( in Australia ours pitches were hard as rock when I was growing up) Did my acl and tore other ligaments. Had surgeries and everything but that knee still pops out now and then . Knee injuries stay with you forever- but hey You Never Limp Alone

Hehe, YNLA. I’ll start using that 😆

I did the same. Studs caught in turf. My body turned but knee didn’t. I actually fractured the protruding knee joint, an osteochondral fracture. When it happened it sounded like one of those manual pepper mills you use in the kitchen. Torn meniscus at the same time. Open knee surgery to repair. Full leg plaster for couple of months. Back walking in 6 but not back to full fitness until a year. It’s astonishing how quickly you lose your muscle mass. When my leg cast was taken off I could almost cup my hold hand around my thigh muscle, it had lost that much volume. Hoping Bradley’s injury is not that serious and a speedy recovery 🫶🏽

I did the exact same thing a couple of years ago, ended up being a sprained ligament. I was out for maybe 2 months. His could be worse though considering he came at a higher speed when he twisted it.

That's why he should have been subbed of earlier. Intense game, shit weather and Slot ignored everything.

i dont know. he was match fit for quite some time now. its a game vs the league leaders. if he and the medical staff thinks he is fit to play 90 then thats fair enough. you gotta trust your players to play 90 minutes. you cant predict who will land shit and twist their knee. personally not blaming slot for trusting bradley full 90minutes tbh.

Well put. There’s a lot of things we can blame Slot for this season, but this isn’t one of them. It could have been anyone on the pitch. Just the nature of the game. Gutted for Conor though.

Sure, because you predicted this freak accident. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Every player was playing their heart out, they played for the jersey, the risk was bigger making a sub than not. Slot made the right call.

Personally not having slot blame for this injury ha come on that's ridiculous. Drawing with the league leaders in a tough game. Team going ok. Bradley doing a good job. His subs have usually made us worse especially at right back. Not another league game for nine days etc. made sense to stick with it. It wasn't a hammy was it - that could have happened at any point

Just a freakish accident. It happens. I had a similar football injury from personal experience. It looked like Bradley changed his mind at the last moment in trying to clear the ball so his standing foot was not naturally planted. Just extremely bad luck.

Yes people in white coats, this one right here, yes it's full Slot Derangement Syndrome, looks chronic

  • Physician here worked in ortho and emergency.

Without knowing anything about the injury, the brace and crutches is standard prevention and "stabilization" precautions. Seems like there was some give way injury to the knee but far from being obvious of an ACL like the sport has seen. Comparing to Rodri incident everyone knew as he went off it was an ACL. Lets just hope its a bad sprain and he'll be back sooner rather than later.

It seems like a sprain or hyper extension rather than a ligament injury.

A hyper extension is a ligament injury, the tendons and ligaments in your knee will be overextended, causing damage.

Versus an ACL or MCL tear, I meant.

When I did my ACL, it was from a hyper subluxation in my knee, which honestly I hate to say, this looks like (at least to me) that it could have been.

  • Feel so bad for him. Hopefully he can bounce back from this. We need someone to clatter Mbappe, after all.

  • Cursed season

    It really seems like that

  • He was always leaving on crutches to minimise any injury. Just hope it’s not as major as it seems. It’s always the innocuous ones that end seasons as well. Got my fingers and toes crossed for him.

I mean our medical team got Isak to walk off the field on a broken leg so I'm not gonna criticize if they actually exercise caution here

Broken bones and ligament tears are very different things

If it's a clean break, people tend to power thru none fractures due to adrenaline

    Can't do that with ligaments

I have broken my arm and lifted my bike with that arm immediately after falling down. Its very normal

  • Gutted for the lad, underlines the need for defensive reinforcements this month! Imagine if VVD or Konate get injured...

If vvd gets injured our defence is actually finished.

Tbf no amount of depth would ever change that and that’s sort of always been the case. He has been the system for 8 years

The only player who is even remotely close to being as composed and smart as him in defense is probably bastoni, and inter are never letting him go.

I seriously don't know how we will replace him. Schlotterbeck maybe, but he has links to RM.

I know man. Makes me wonder what they were thinking letting go of Quansar.

Quansah is injured now I think.

Agreed bud, I think given a run he'd have been better than Konate...

  • We simply have to make a defensive signing of some sort now.

Szob can’t play RB the rest of the season. It ruins our midfield

    FSG doesn't do emergency signings

I mean, that's not really true. Look at 20/21 for example. And that one season we loaned in Arthur because of our midfield issues.

I wouldn't call those "signings" per se. Those were cheap loans and stop gaps. I think when we say signings, we are all talking about a player that actually has a long-term future and can actually push the starter or start.

    Please buy Dalot

  • Poor Conor, get well soon, so unfair how he got injured :(

  • We can't catch a break this season. Even a good performance comes with a disaster like this. I really hope he recovers soon.

  • Fucking heartbreaking. One of the few players I have utmost faith in to give their all every game.

  • Wishing him the best but fearing the worst. Outstanding player but very clearly injury prone

It’s incredible isn’t it, he really needs to get a run in the team to push on, he clearly has the potential and the right seemed to be working ok last night.

I fear he won’t (as a fellow countryman), an inch lower and he could have won the game, a kick a second later and he may have prevented injury. Really fine margins.

He’s an incredible player, and I just want him to be able to play. Such a crushing injury after yet another great performance.

  • Really hope for Conor’s sake it’s not as bad as we all feared. He is a real leader for this team and never backs down from a challenge.

Really underrated too, if you think of the two pieces of quality from the last two games it’s come from him making brave runs - one ended in a goal for Wirtz and the other ended with him hitting the crossbar yesterday

  • Wishing him a speedy recovery.

  • This is normal and precautionary. Let’s just hope it’s not the worst and it’s a bad sprain or something, but it doesn’t look good going off the replays. Gutted for him.

  • I hate it for Conor. He was excellent last night….my MOTM

  • Massive shame. Everytime he plays hes so brave with and without the ball. Really hope he can become more robust over time

  • What happened to Slot’s team managing injury prevention so well? Didn’t we have minimal injuries last year?

That's for soft tissue injuries. You can't control for ligaments and bones.

  • Absolutely gutted, as soon as the guy starts putting in consistent outstanding performances, he picks up some nasty injury to kill his momentum. So frustrating and hopefully something the club can try and work on so we can see the most out of world class Bradley

  • I love Bradley and his never say die attitude and aggression but I feel he picks up a lot of injuries because of just that.

He seems to have no regard for his body when he goes into tackles.

Just my humble opinion but maybe he needs to dial it down to a 9 from his usual 11.

I've said that for ages. It's great that "he's got that dawg in him" as they say and that he gives it his all, but there's a fine line between effort and recklessness, he's injured all the time because he's constantly on the edge of putting in too much.

    Jota was the same.

  • I think hes out for the season… so sad for him… its such a freak injury as well

  • This is really exhausting. That’s three players out with long term injuries.

We dont know with Bradley yet it could be just a bad sprain

  • That's real commitment to the bit of pretending to be injured to waste time.

    /S

What a shitter - get well asap lad.

  • I tore my Achilles this way :( my whole body turned except for my foot. hopefully his is not as serious!

  • Never looks good but they try to reduce swelling and keep them off it overnight so they can go for a scan in the following 24/48 hours if swelling reduced I believe. That’s to say this is a precaution that doesn’t indicate severity at this stage

  • Hope it's just a twist and nothing else fingers crossed for lad has been decent for us

  • Get well soon Conor lad. Now we definitely need to sign a defender in this window

  • Right when he’s strings together some games and finds some form 😭

  • Physio here. The mechanism of injury looks to be a classic sign of ACL rupture. Be surprised if it wasn’t. So gutted for the lad.

  • Fuck! Get better mate

  • Poor lad. He's been so unlucky with injuries, let's hope it's not as bad as we fear and wish him a speedy recovery.

All the more outrageous on what Martinelli did. Could have made Conor's injury worse.

  • That Martinelli prick

  • To me, someone who has done their ACL before, the twist as he cleared the ball looked like an ACL tear.

I hope I’m wrong obviously but that sudden jar and twist made my knee hurt and it was 11 years ago

Yep, did my ACL 16 years ago. My first thought when I saw how he landed and twisted was he's torn his knee ligaments

  • My guess is dislocated knee. Possible torn MCL and meniscus. Hopefully nothing with the patellar tendon.

  • It’s unfortunate but you have to add Bradders to the list of players who could have been world beaters for us but unfortunately their bodies don’t allow it.

Gomez, Sturridge, Aurelio come to mind.

  • With the pain he was in, hopefully it’s just a MCL on Syndesmosis.

  • I did something similar which didn't rupture my ligaments but did damage them. Initially I couldn't walk on it but it wasn't long until I could and with physio it was about 8 weeks recovery

  • Cursed season. Blessed transfer window.

  • Damn! Fingers crossed it’s not as bad as it looks. And speedy recovery to him.

  • Man. Get well soon bro.

  • This is so unbelievably disappointing for him. Poor lad

  • It's always the ones the look innocuous that worry me the most

  • I did something similar with no contact and it was only my MCL, not my ACL. Hopefully same for conor as it's a much simpler injury

  • Doesn't look good at all. I'm gutted we are losing him but I'm optimistic he'll come back stronger 💪🏽

  • Damn this season! So many injuries.

  • Is everyone short in this shot or am I missing something. Bradley looks a lot taller than his 5’11 (1.81) listed height.

  • Oh great now we need a right back as well as a centre back and obviously we'll sign neither

  • I wonder if there's any lightweight straps players can put on when it's raining, as feel like this is quite common now :(

  • Fuck me, when it rains it pours. Gutted for him, was playing so well =/

  • Just gutted for the lad. You can guarantee he’ll put a shift in every time for us & the way he’s developed has been brilliant to watch. Fear the worst for him, but hoping for the best.

  • Looked like side ACL to me but I hope it's MCL. It's at least a bit better.

  • Reminds me so much of how Leoni went down.

  • [deleted]

Its his knee that twisted via non contact, id be amazed if it was only a couple of months

  • That’s Connor’s season over… 😞

  • Get well soon man ❤️‍🩹

  • I twisted my knee like that playing pickleball once and it was just a sprain

  • Most likey a season ender. Feel so bad for the lad. His body just lets him down far too often :(

  • Not saying it was the same, but i got ‘scissor’ tackled from both sides as i was ‘Cruyff’ turning on the ball when i was 14.

I have never broken a bone in my body but that day i felt something in my leg just ‘snap’

Turns out it was my ACL and other muscles just ‘blowing out’

It’s a horrendous feeling and you can’t move or put any pressure on that leg if it happens to it.

I wish Conor a swift recovery, it will be hard to just sit by and watch us for now, but he needs to do that. You can’t rush back on something like that of an injury 🙌

  • That's not good at all... stiff leg, crutches and backup to help for stability. All really bad signs it is a serious knock he sustained. Slapping the ground on the pitch was enough to trigger worry. Seen plenty of teammates leave the pitch like that and it was never light.

  • Hes going to be out for a long time unfortunately

  • As someone who has done their ACL, this looks a lot like what I went through. Fuck man, he can't catch a break... 😭

  • Bradley basically a young Gomez just full of devastating potential and perpetually hurt.

We should start looking for another longterm right back now but we won't, and it'll cost us trophies.

We're loyal to a fault tho. Cant knock us for not being loyal.

  • I’m betting an ACL, based on the position and movement. I’ve had two non-contact ACL tears - one in each knee. Each came from a seemingly innocuous step to the ball. If it’s the ACL, he’s done for the season and would be very lucky to be fully fit for the start of next season. I hope it’s just a meniscus…he could be back in weeks, instead of months.

  • Very surprised if it wasn’t an ACL

Im surprised we haven’t heard anything. I’m hoping that means it’s not an ACL.

Apparently his knee is so swollen they have to wait for it to go down before doing scans

  • They are probably his own personalized crutches, it's a shame but he's made of glass!

  • Wishing him a speedy recovery. But genuinely don’t understand still some fans say he’s unlucky with injuries. It’s a literal pattern at this point- so no it isn’t luck.

  • Time wasting though wasn’t he…

  • Was downvoted a lot for saying Martinelli deserved a retrospective (or VAR reviewed) red card on r/soccer for what he did.

  • “He’s faking”

  • ACL. See you next season Conor 😢

From the behind replay it looked more like a median ankle sprain... at the way he twisted it, but the movement could have also translated to the knee level...

i actually dont think its an acl. its one of those wherein a twisted ankle leads to a knee injury. ive experienced them myself. a loose foot and the ball hit my toe and my ankle twisted but somehow my knee was injured. the whole side from the knee to ankle was hurting. i hope thats what it is.

nah, probably ankle injury or something

Dude deffo a knee injury did u watch the replay. That knee was way out of place.

this sub likes to hop on the injury train ASAP like Isak's ACL

are you the club doctor, can you diagnose injuries via video?

The sub hopped on Isak's ACL because a well known sports doctor whos mostly never wrong talked about it being a potential ACL injury

I can diagnose the knee brace he’s wearing in this clip.

mate. you could see his knee twist. without contact from another player. he held his knee afterwards in pain. its hopefully not an acl tear (even if it looked like one). but it 100% isnt an ankle injury. do you have your ankles in the knee?

  • Video ends just before scumbag Martinelli ran in and pushed him over.

  • ACL by the looks of it. Gutted for him

  • Obviously not slot's fault but in general I don't get how do you not make subs in this type of game. It's inevitable players get injured anyway, but bringing fresh legs always reduces the chance of it happening

Did you see our subs bench?

    Curtis, Gomez, Chiesa, Ngumoha

Ngumoha is 17, and we were playing against arsenal, chiesa instead of gakpo would've maybe made sense but it really wouldn't have made a difference, macca and gravenberch were having a fantastic game so dont know how subbing on curtis would've made sense and Gomez got subbed in when Bradley got injured (not due to any tackle btw, just the wrong landing).

Maybe curtis instead of bradley and szobo at rb would've made sense, but that would've significantly worsened our defense in midfield.

You responded to the suggestion that it was hard to understand Slot making zero subs till the 90th minute in this game.

You responded suggesting that we had no opne on the bench that would have been worth bringing on.

Gakpo was again having another shit game. Curtis, Chiesa or even Ngumoha could have replcaed him much earlier and we'd have likely improved.

Gomez is excellent and could have replaced a tiring Connor earlier without worry.

Grav and Macca were doing well but Macca was looking seriously tired the last 5-10 mins and Curtis could/should have replaced him.

Changes were possible. Nothing too wrong with our bench options.

Gomez isn't even remotely as good on the ball as bradley

Gakpo is much more physical than any of the players you've mentioned. Also, Curtis instead of Gakpo is beyond stupid. I can't believe you've said that. Ngumoha is a 17 year old with barely any experience. Why the fuck would any manager play him against the most physical team in the prem and how would we look better when he is playing against the best rb in prem currently. Chiesa couldve been understandable, but the ball barely went towards the left side in the last 15-20 minutes of the game.

Macca was not looking that tired. The ball was barely in play in the last 5-10 minutes. A lot of failed passes, duels and injury of bradley before a corner. That was the last 5-10 minutes btw.

Subbing other players on would've been stupid. Chiesa instead of Gakpo is the only sub that would've made sense and even that wouldn't have made a considerable difference tbh.

Curtis Chiesa and Gomez are great as subs

We really shouldn’t have signed Isak, could’ve spread the funds to get a winger that can replace Diaz and a centre back, we’re so fucking thin at the back.

I disagree. We lost 2 strikers a winger and replaced them with 2 who can play as lone strikers and as wingers.

No one knew that Isak would be out for the season due to an injury.

We definitely should’ve signed one of the best strikers in the world. Just because he hasn’t been available this season doesn’t change that. He’s class and it seems people like you have forgotten.

Agree. No club would turn his signing down. The best is still to come.

Actually I was begging for him not to change the defence in the game.  Any changes I wanted were up top.

    This was pure bad luck.

Part of the defensive issues this season have come from too much change and not always enforced. One game 3 of the back 4 were substituted. Kerkez and Bradley are both young so 90 minutes shouldn’t be an issue for them. This was just a freak injury unfortunately like Leoni and I fear the same outcome.

  • It's mad really because in the moment it hardly looked like anything happened. Maybe I'm just missing the point of impact during the normal play

Matip, in Klopp's last season went down even more innocuously. Turned out that he did his ACL and retired soon after 😢

    They're often the worst injuries

    Non-contact injury suspicious for ACL

  • Hate to say it but if that’s not an ACL I will be very surprised

  • Martinelli will probably push him over as he leaves the building

  • We need a CB replacement to Konate that can also slot in as a RB, Gomez as great as he is is made of Weetabix unfortunately.

We can loan White from Arse and make him a better player than Timber, lol.

  • He can't be here next season as a starter, unfortunately. Isn't consistent enough and is barely available.
