Of this sample size of n=3, two were normal people who worked their way up and attributed a lot of it to luck with intelligence and hard work, but they were really just normal people who got lucky and were not significantly different than any person I've met...and the third dude was a controlling asshole who just yearned for more money and more attention at all times and it was never enough and you knew it never would be enough no matter what. His parents gifted him a BMW and a luxury apartment for graduation even though he dropped out senior year, and he had a six figure job waiting on him. He got bored of that, went to the beach for a few months and just blocked his boss’s number. When he came back he asked his dad for another job and was given an even better job at a different company. What I learned from hanging out with him was that if your parents are both extremely wealthy and successful, you can act like that. Still, fun guy.

It is kind of true honestly. A lot of high paying jobs are earned through just connections. A lot of business deals are just connections. I am not saying that people doing them are not talented enough, but that there are tons of talented people but only those with good connections get to have those high paying jobs and good business deals.
