• Nobody cares.

I think you have summed up 80% of all LI posts.

then why is it reposted here?

    Specifically because nobody cares.

  • Using books as a monitor stand is the worst thing about that picture

Came here to say that. She is beautiful as is. But the books as monitor and laptop stands has got to go..

Well this, besides holding a tiny brain in her hand. Sometimes Id love to hear about the previous thought process of people, posting stuff like this.

  • This is very much, "i need to post and I'm totally out of ideas... what's around my desk? I like this brain stress ball, I'll use that... oh but this is LinkedIn so I gotta talk about grinding... i had that interview for a job I didn't get, I'll spin that. Oh crap, I look so bad in this selfie with the brain, I should do my makeup... wait no, this is good content."

    The brain is a classic!

  • "just foundation.."

    You mean...makeup?

Right. Well. I mean other than that makeup I don't wear any makeup.

  • Erm a lot of women don’t wear makeup to work or interviews (including myself). Nobody has ever commented on it because nobody cares!

Oh really? Because that's my first interview question with female candidates.

"Please discuss the volume, and specific application, of today's makeup"

From there, we often go into how it makes her feel and we discuss her social media posting strategy around it.

It makes a great segue into discussions of their reproductive plans!

That's fortunate. I don't wear makeup myself, but I've had people point it out in past jobs. Once had a guy from HR tell me I looked "unprofessional," and since I had a client-facing role (I did not), I needed to wear at least lipstick. He got annoyed when I asked what shade he wore and didn't put it on email when I asked. I wonder why.

Even recently, I had a client comment on how I should take more pride in my appearance and how other women seem to enjoy their youth (????). I specialize in office harassment laws and had talked about how it's inappropriate to comment on someone's appearance just half an hour before.

Holy shit. I'm client facing and they can go fuck themselves if they expect me to wear makeup. I'm here to do a job and bring expertise. I might wear lipstick to dinner... Or I might not. Honestly I'm way too old to gaf at this point.

I understand the vibe of this comment but time and time again it's been proven people have biases against women in the workforce if they're seen as not putting effort into their appearance. And it goes past basic hygiene and work expectations in regards to business casual whatever-makeup is seen as professional to people.

Yeah, I almost appreciate the original post because she is almost aware of the utter bullshit women face, but then she loses the plot and reverts to the whole point of LinkedIn: self-aggrandizement with a capitalist twist

This has not been the experience of numerous women in my life. In many professional settings (like law firms), I've been told that women are quietly judged, mostly by other women, for not wearing makeup or any of several other professional fashion issues. People may not have commented on it for you, but it's very possible some interview cared but said nothing.

My wife had problems with medical judgement in the early years of her disease progression. If she didn't wear makeup because she literally couldn't spend the energy, or because it caused physical pain, some of her doctors would write that down as not taking care of herself due to depression. She wasn't depressed, she was developing a serious illness.

I have seen the judgment by other women and by men on the opposing side (who honestly are mad and kind of assholes and will find something to judge no matter what).

I do not wear make-up and actually have had it mentioned in the workplace before as evidence of me not "looking professional". Glad your employers are better!

  • Foundation IS make up. I only use mascara and also consider it make up, even though my skin remains bare. I don’t get what is the point of her post? Lots of words but what is she trying to tell the audience?

Who tf wears foundation and not the rest of the makeup? Is it just me or is that weird? (Source: have never considered wearing foundation ever. Do occasionally wear some makeup to go out)

Foundation only is a direct path to the uncanny valley.

It sounds kinda weird, yes. I’m not in a loop now but in my younger days (the noughties) I’d use at least some powder, blush/ highlighter and concealer.

I do. I had some tiny veins spring up on my left cheek after getting smacked in the face with an airbag. I use a sunscreen with a tint that is much like foundation, and makes the veins slightly less noticeable.

I don't wear lipstick/blush/eyeliner, etc because I look like a clown in makeup. Some people's faces just aren't meant for it.

  • I never wear makeup! I mean, mostly don't wear makeup. I mean, other than the makeup that I wear, I don't wear makeup.

  • Thank you for the information.

  • The tiny brain she is holding in her hand is sending me

  • i'm sorry i don't understand why someone found a post that nobody cares about and then made the effort to repost it here so we can all sit around and say "nobody cares"....? that seems... kinda dumb.

  • What does this have to do with B2B sales?

  • You’re actually more likely to get hired without or with very little makeup than with heavy makeup. It's called the pretty tax.

  • She just wants others to say how beautiful she looks even without makeup. Peak narcissism.

  • Breaking news! Woman doesn't wear makeup.

Be sure to turn on notifications for updates on this absolutely fascinating story.

Wonder how it impacts her B2B sales.

  • I never wear makeup. I’m a dude. I don’t post about it.

  • Someone please comment “well you should start”

  • okay sorry this is fucking dumb. it's dumb to take this innocuous, silly post and then repost it here and then dunk on it for being innocuous and silly. everyone is like "nobody cares, get over yourself" but OP didn't come to reddit to post this. they posted it to their own personal linkedin page, and then someone took their personal post and reposted it here to blow it up.

so what are we doing here? why are we making fun of this person who didn't ask to be posted here in the first place for posting something that we say is "not interesting" but yet we are talking about it and reposting it?

Agreed. Also “nobody cares” can be applied to at least 50% of the posts and comments on the internet. None of the comments on this post contained vital information, including mine right now, but we’ve all just decided to throw our thoughts into the void.

Plus, let’s not pretend there isn’t a ton of social pressure for women in the professional sphere to meet standards of dress and hygiene that are much more intense than those to which men are held. Or that there aren’t documented correlations between makeup and the way employers view the hireability and promotability of their female employees, where not wearing makeup OR wearing too much makeup OR wearing just the right amount of makeup but applying it with poor technical skill could all unfairly compromise perceptions of her professional competence and derail her career trajectory. Like, is her language mildly self-aggrandizing… maybe? I guess? But imo this seems like a work-related topic that’s worth discussing, and introducing the topic by sharing her experiences on the Workplace Experiences website seems appropriate to me. Also, frankly, to me her language just reads like someone who’s matching the syntax of the website she’s posting on.

  • This is absolutely not lunacy this is normal.

  • Belief system is idiot for I'm too dumb and insecure to function like normal people

  • Legit no one cares. 😆

  • Why is she telling us this?

SHE'S NOT! she's posting it on her personal linkedin. why is it being reposted here? that's the big question. someone saw their personal post and then reposted it here, and now everyone is like "nobody cares, why are you posting this?"
