It’s something that is not satire but it’s still absurd content meant to drive eyes to a profile/brand/etc.

We’re trying to thread the needle of content that is sincere in its insanity and isn’t trying to play up to an audience. We want the real, authentic lunatics - not the characters.

  • at least thank you for acknowledging that not everything that is not serious is "satire"

  • Maybe a rule to redact out brand names? I don’t think names or faces should be blurred out (unless it’s blatantly harmful), even more so the job titles. But just blurring out the brand/company name would help perhaps?

  • Maybe give LinkedIn rage baiters their own day, like the satirists? There's an argument to be made that people who write loose shit on LinkedIn intentionally for engagement are still lunatics - their rage bait doesn't always mean they're self aware.

    Manic Mondays perhaps?

  • It's gonna be a difficult line to walk, because the nature of the sub is to call out the most ridiculous posts on one of the most intentionally engagement-baity websites that's ever existed.

I can't think of a better way than to let the community report posts as seemingly satire, but having a post deemed satire shouldn't impact the OP's status or anything. We've all fallen for something that wasn't entire sincere.

What if posts that get flagged as satire automatically get added to a big Saturday Satire digest post?

There really isn’t a “status” thing - it goes into the mod log but like that doesn’t negatively impact people in any way.

I’m not sure how we can collect everything into a satir megathread.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like it'd be technically easy. But I do agree, it would be nice to be able to browse without having to second-guess every post's sincerity. I hope you can find something that works!

  • I agree there is an issue with posts that are attempting humor while not being ‘satirical’ specifically- and/or people trying to get themselves posted here by making ‘funny’ posts à la Ken. I think the easiest path for now is to restrict any joke content to Saturday, and while some posts might be on the line, it’s easier to err on the side of caution. I do also think any ‘funny’ posts should have the company names crossed out, as lunatics are trying to use this sub as an ad venue.
