The longest sentence in that case was 20 years and they had raped plenty of girls before they tortured and killed her. They have a huge problem with how they treat women.

Japan is the only country without nuclear weapons that has a full fuel cycle. They already have enough enriched uranium to produce 1000s of bombs. They already have the design for a weapon and a delivery device. China's first notification of Japan having a bomb would be the final test. Same as isreal and south africa.

The media coverage of Trump and the US in general is laughable. The average Japanese has absolutely no idea about Epstein and that he's a felon. They mostly still think Trump is a very successful and intelligent business man and the tariffs are also something that might work great in the future. And that's the average. If you're lucky you can see MAGA hats around.
And now of course they can evade any criticism by just saying "but muh China", as if Trump would really come to rescue if Xi did anything. Besides she also wants to have nukes so don't think that really matters.
All in all, Japan is just salivating to have its own ICE. That's just it. They can do all the Abenomics to move money up and now they can just blame on foreigners when the receipts come later.

Bingo. And there are many things I like about Japan to be clear. But the localized racism/nativism and colonialism denial they never grew out of (as opposed to the Anglosphere and Europe where our reactionaries are trying to drag us backwards) plus the crushing weight of authority and blind obedience to tradition are just godawful. They are the poison of their culture in the same way that the unfinished legacy of the indigenous genocide/slavery and the civil war, racism and Christian Nationalism are ours.
And it may well harm their future in serious ways. Japan could put itself into a prime position to weather the future if it simply (a) took serious action against "black companies" (abusive work environments, not racism lol) and other abusive labor practices, and (b) allowed more migration with a friendlier immigration policy.
That's all it would take to stabilize things a bit, no voodoo economics needed. They could even be very selective about the immigrants they allowed in; their current stance is so xenophobic that even a narrow selection strategy would be an improvement.
Cultures that are trained to tolerate abuse from authority are uniquely primed for authoritarianism; Japan is one of them.

That's true but to be fair the USA is very young. We literally didn't have the chance to be authoritarians for very long and we were extremely lucky to avoid it multiple times (displacement of reactionary energy via free land/genocide, civil war fervor, WWI and especially WWII- etc, it's a long topic).
Japan's isolationism was always its defining factor IMO, less so than authoritarianism. But one naturally helps breed the other. Especially when you have an imperialist worldview that is never fully challenged, even after you are the only country in the world to be nuked.

There’s two types of testing involving nukes:
1) Testing the delivery system, eg the ICBMs and SLBMs (submarine launched ballistic missiles). The ICBM MinuteMen III missiles are tested regularly. The last MMIII test was Nov 5th this year. The last Trident II SLBM tests were on September 17-21st this year. I hope that this is all he means. All nuclear powers regularly test their nuclear weapon delivery systems, and they notify each other so that no one thinks that an actual nuke has been deployed. The weapon delivery system is the most likely component to fail.
3) Detonating an actual nuclear weapon. This hasn’t been done by the major nuclear powers in over thirty years, notably the US, Russia, and China. Putin has been saber-rattling nuclear war for a few years now and detonating a nuclear weapon would significantly increase the risk of nuclear war. Yes, Russia’s nuclear arsenal is definitely not up to scratch, but that doesn’t matter. The United States’ weapons will cause enough destruction before NATO nations get involved.
I just hope that Trump thinks that the ‘cool ICBM launch’ is enough. Sigh.
