I pulled a 5 card lenormand spread to see what will happen if I decide to break no contact and text my ex.
I’m having a bit of a hard time reading this. I’ve been trying to read it in a progressive line.
Stress/Anxiety (Mice) brings challenges (Mountain) to happiness/contentment (Lily) in which communication (Letter) brings deception (Snake).
I’m a little confused. I would say there is past stress/anxiety in the relationship that brings difficulty in communicating with virtue? So it will end up bringing deception.

Yea that’s about right! I usually do a middle card focused read, which I would interpret like, the Lillie’s are your realized relationship (ex) which up until now has been full of stress (mice) but currently under no contact rule (mountain) . If you open communication (you texting him), it will result in a message that is tangled, evasive, or has hidden motives (letter/snake)…. So definitely NOT a positive or healing outcome.

I think the spirit of your interpretation is correct. as far as reading this as a progressive line, I would suggest reading 1-2, 3, 4-5: 1-2 as describing the past relationship; 3 as your current "peace of mind"; 4-5 as "sincere communication biting you in the ass".
some may say Snake looks good at the end of the line because... "transformation". "transformation" is too much of a tarot interpretation for me, if you know what I mean lol
some may read Mice-Mountain as a double-negative that cancels each other out - I don't do that; if we see mostly negative cards, we see a pretty negative situation.
the only positive card in your spread is Lilies, and even that is a fragile energy that absolutely can be disrupted if negative cards are nearby; thus, "protect your peace".
This makes sense! I’m really new to lenormand. So, I thought progressive was simply 1-2-3-4-5 and nothing more. So 3 is basically the current energy? 1-2 is past and 4-5 and future? Is this true for all readings or is it more of a kind of feel the reading/question? Thanks for your help. 😊

Well, everyone has already said “no,” and I agree, but I’ll do the reading anyway. LOL.

Thanks for the reminder that we’re talking about Lenormand, not Tarot or standard playing cards. That said, Lenormand cards do have suits. For example, the 7 of Wands corresponds to the Mice, the Snake is the Queen of Wands, the Man is the Ace of hearts, and so on. Not everyone uses suits in Lenormand readings, but they are there, shown at the top of the cards, and they can add another layer of meaning.
Also, just to clarify, when I mentioned the hidden cards, I was referring to the Cross and the Letter. Since they are HIDDEN, they are not part of the visible spread.
It's not a positive reading; it starts off quite badly with the mice, followed by an obstacle, and we only see one positive card related to communication. Furthermore, the reading ends negatively with the snake.
Although communication itself isn't inherently bad, the snake ultimately indicates an unfavorable outcome. Based on this reading, I also believe it's best not to send that message.

it looks to me like you may think you are in a healed enough place to engage (lilies), but despite that thinking, engaging (letter) brings up old business (mice +mountain) from the past which will end up stinging/biting (snake)at least one if not both parties. Perhaps it's best left as a letter you write and then burn/bury, rather than send- thus using the snake energy as transformation medicine. Best of luck whatever you decide.

You'll be kicking yourself if you do. You have three negative cards (Mice, Mountain and ending on the Snake, which represents trouble, complication, betrayals etc). Lilies can indicate purity and integrity - on your part, but you'll be undermining that if you try to make contact. It's like you've blocked off the worries (Mice,Mountain) - and now seem to want to override that, but the cards suggest that any message you send will bite you back. And will probably take you back to feeling undermined, possibly belittled and that you've lost something through it (Mice & Snake). Could even be another woman in the picture (some readers suggest the Snake indicates another woman). Just don't. No idea why some here are suggesting it's positive, nothing positive about this reading. And no, the Snake doesn't mean transformation! Oh, and I should add for those looking at the playing card suits - the Clubs are THE worst suit in Lenormand, which, although it's using the French, actually follows German/Bavarian playing card suits. Not the same as in other playing card cartomancy systems.

I don't read mountain as bad news because it's post mice - the mice diminishes the mountain.
The lily is positive and the letter is news or neutral.

The snake is def a card that can be read in a number of ways. But I transformative given then other positive cards in terms of context. The snake can mean seduction or a bad lady, you are being played, etc. but at its heart, the snake symbolizes transformation as snakes shed their skins. Like fox - it can mean a job or cleverness but I tend to read it as meaning complexity. It can mean trickery or warn to be cautious but even then you can deduce it's because something complex. The fox has a reputation of a clever animal and facing complexity thus requiring being sly. It's complex before sly. The same animal symbolism applies to bear - strong and brave often highlighting finance as read but because it's an animal of resources. Fish - trade, money or resources as often read, but again in context as abundance or multiplicity in essence. Birds as conversation in their song and stress if too much song becoming noise - but you look at talk before stress. Does that make sense?
In my experience, you have to first look at the general most basic symbolism before you go deep into specifics as there's a lot of ways to spin a story but the simplest and easiest face value meaning is almost always in point. Things cannot be made complex - the answer is usually easy.
I think some people just make up interpretations cause so many times I read these posts and it's utter crazy what they say!! There's no way they know what they are talking about. Like I'm serious.

The lily is 3rd card. The mountain is modifying mice. The prob is modifying the eating away - the mice is eating the prob.
Look there's a lot of ways to weave the story. But I'm reading the line. The lily and letter follow. It's peaceful news. The snake is transformation.
If you read the mountain as a prob that the mice is affected (lack or something negative), you are still seeing a relationship or however you want lily to be interpreted as news (letter). The snake then becomes the negative I suppose but I read snake more often as transformative or of change. If it were fox I'd read more negatively.
But lily follows. Lily is positive. The 3rd card is a big big sway to positive for me. Even if you read the mice+mtn as negative. In fact you can u suppose suggest you start as neg and end as neutral with transformation but the answer to your question is Lily which is positive. I still say that mice+mountain is signifying the answer to your question suggests talking is leading to positive outcome.

So you have mouse + mountain. The second card always tells you more about the card before it. So you have stress, anxiety, theft, and disease, a nagging feeling, tiredness, etc. Something is taken away. Since the mountain tells us Something about the mouse. It means stress or the thing that is taken away becomes a problem, obstacle you need to overcome. Symbolizes immobility, resistance, standing still, endurance, and blockage.
The lily is more of a time card or a mood card in this specific spread. So, it could mean that the obstacle will be somewhat of passive/ not too hard. Or could indicate it will take a longer period of time or has been present for a longer time.
The letter shows that the obstacle/ problem will be some form of written communication. So, the text. For example. The snake tells us more about this specific communication. It shows that it might be a form of manipulation, treachery, deception, envy, and jealousy.
So, for me, these cards say: the whole possible interaction ( the question should you text your ex?) Will end in: a mental blockage coming from stress and anxiety, the inability to move forward with your own life.
