Hello all! I converted a deck of El Cortez (casino) playing cards into a weird little Lenormand deck and wanted to share! On the tail of the Inktober sketching challenge I decided to try my hand at making the Lenormand as a way to get familiar with it's symbols and have a personal deck for practice. Seeing some other diy decks inspired me to share! Hope it inspires you to make your own too! Cheers and happy holidays!
Such lovely cards!
Thank you so much!
I love these! πππ Including the faded background of the original cards.
Thank you! A little sandpaper went a long way!
Oh, I love this. Very effective.
Thank you!
I love it! Inspiring and creative.
Awesome! Thank you for the kind words! I'm looking forward to reading with it!
This is cool! How long did it take you?
I just put together my first deck using a downloadable template, a paper trimmer, a corner cutter and some school glue and I was like hmmm I could have made something like this...even more so now!
Thank you! It took about a month with prep and everything. It might have been quicker but I didn't really know what I was doing and only started to speed up by the end after having a process in place. Also there were images that challenged me where I had to 'just do it' rather than make it perfect. I tried a few different ways to keep the backgrounds in tact and sandpaper to fade them out was the best. One thing I didn't think of was the bowing of he cards because you remove the protective moisture coating. So wiping the dust away with a moist towel had to be quick or else the card bent severely. Same with after coating with modge podge. But as I play with them and leave them under heavy books, they've flattened out quite a bit now. Definitely usable and now waterproof again π. It's really satisfying to see them all together as a set! I would love to see the deck you made!
The deck I made is called Scandi Christmas Lenormand from Divination Apothecary on Etsy. It was a fun holiday project βΊοΈ the cards didn't come out perfect but the template isn't perfect either and I'm pretty happy with it.
It's good to know the challenges you faced! Very creative process and solutions, I'm really impressed and inspired. My husband suggested I do a pixel art Lenormand... Actually tarot but 36 cards are way less intimidating than 78. We'll see! If I do I'll post it and try to remember to credit you for inspiration π
That deck is awesome!!! I love the art! Very inspiring too! Is that your shop? Some of the other decks are quite lovely too! I want to do a tarot deck but yeah, 78 is a LOT lol. We're half way there with the Lenormand! I would love to see a pixel deck! Do it!!!
It's not my shop but I really like it! The seller lives in Hong Kong and shipping can be an issue for people so she responded to demand for her decks by making downloadable versions. That's what I gather from poking around her shop, anyway. The template came with tips to put the deck together and make it last which were helpful,Β I also got some tips from Bliss Jung's YouTube video DIY Oracle | Meditation Card Deck: Studio Ghibli Themed.
Cheers to you! Til it's time to credit the three of you as my muses lol π
Looks gorgeus! π©·
Thank you,!!!
Thank you for your post!
