I'm playing Dave the Diver on Legion go s Z2 16GB ram version SteamOs(manually downloaded) and this is my third time I've encountered a freezing during the gameplay(the last one happened 10 minutes ago as I'm writing this). The game just freezes out of nowhere while you can hear the background music normally, but I can easily access steam options and close the game. The previous time this have ever happened before was when I was playing Little Nightmares where it froze two times, but I was blaming that on overheating because the fan was really loud.
I'm currently also playing Sekiro and Dispatch, and none of those games freeze on me as of yet.
PS: I'm playing Dave the Diver while unplugged, maybe this has something to do with it?
Edit: It happened again, I left the console for 5 minutes to go to the toilet only to come back for it frozen again.
I had this issue, also a friend of mine did.
This is with the Z1e 32gb versions and they were both manufactured on the same date.
Freezing and reboots were random, some days fine, some days very frustrating.
We sent them for repair, mine is getting a whole new motherboard fitted, which is waiting for parts which were due yesterday and my friends been told they can't replicate the issues.
Regardless the flex company that are doing the repairs are useless and are providing zero updates regardless of us calling and emailing and being told we would be updated.
Now it's Christmas this could turn into a very long and frustrating wait for our devices to return back, hopefully in the same condition and without issues.
Do you genuinely think it might be a hardware issue? I haven't owned mine for even a month so I really doubt that I broke something inside when gaming, it's not like I pushed the console to it's limits. maybe I did get a faulty one but what are the chances of that?
I was thinking maybe installing the StreamOs has something to do with it because before that I was playing on Windows 11 and didn't encounter any freezes.
Maybe it's a software issue with yours. I had more issues with less heavy games like ball pit and Dave the diver.
And then menu's would reboot on occasions.
Ok so someone other than me did report on ProtonDB that Dave the Diver does have problems with random freezing and even offered a fix for it, a code you type in launch options which sadly didn't work because now the game wouldn't even start. So my last resort was asking Chatgpt about a fix which it did provide and I think it worked(?). I played like 30-40 minutes and didn't encounter a freeze(and I think it even improved the game performance when playing unplugged). As long as it's not a hardware issue I'll be really glad.
It's crazy what chat GPT can do, what was the fix it recommended?
It basically said to switch to Proton experimental and paste this command in the launch settings:
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
There was also turning off steam overlay and shader pre-catching, capping the game at 40 fps but I ignored those.
If you're gonna use this please let me know if it helped.
Thanks, I haven't got my device though as it's out getting fixed, been there for like 2 weeks and no idea when it will return unfortunately.
Is the game on your internal drive or on your microsd?
Internal, I don't have an SD card
