Hi,

This is a general discussion, not a request for legal advice.

I’m based in the UK and trying to understand how medical intermediaries in Germany typically work when coordinating treatment for international patients.

In general terms, I’m interested in: • How contracts are usually structured between patients, intermediaries, and hospitals • Which law typically governs these contracts (German law, foreign law, etc.) • What usually happens if treatment plans change or do not go ahead • How advance payments, deposits, and refunds are commonly handled in practice

I’m not naming any specific company or alleging wrongdoing — I’m simply trying to understand common practices under German law.

Thank you for any general insight.

  • These seem to be very general questions on a highly specific topic. I doubt that you find very much information on that here. As far as I know most German hospitals who are regularly offering care to international patients will require a deposit before admission.
