What an absolute shitshow. Just a bunch of idiots without the ability to use critical thinking, and instead, they all just fall into one big, group-thinking parasite. This applies to the driver just as much as the spectators that needed to get so close to a pretty basic car doing pretty basic doughnuts.

The crowd's instant switch from cheering to attacking surprised me. And also that retaliating against the driver had more priority than rescuing the victims.
Usually the first priority is ransacking the pockets of the victims lying in the street. Second priority, from watching these videos, usually involves slapping the victims after looting his pockets. Then they get to the driver and finally the car itself.
I believe that the cause of the chaos was not the initial run-over itself, but rather the fact that he drove the car into the victims right after the initial mistake. The driver could have simply stopped accelerating and reversed after hitting those first people. The driver also went past the traffic cone.
Yeah the driver straight up almost murdered some people when he floored it after hitting the crowd. I honestly don’t see how the person he ran over and spit out the back like a ball throwing machine survived. The human body is a mystery when it comes to resilience. I always think of ourselves as fragile blobs filled with delicate processes, then you see shit like this and realize we are tough lol
edit: can’t listen to the sound rn so that probably answers this, but based on visuals it looks like he’s still got his foot on the gas when everyone rushes his car to save the dude pinned underneath. I just see a ton of smoke coming from the wheels even as he’s stopped

Why would that surprise you? You think the crowd would continue to clap and cheer for a driver that just hit their friends or other people?
Why is it surprising that people would get angry and want to stop or attack the person that just ran over 10 people.
Most people arent trained to save someone that’s been hit by a car and most of the time it’s best to either stop any bleeding you see and or immediately call an ambulance and don’t move the person.

The cheering before the accident is what suprised me most. I would be angry even before anything bad happened. The anger in the clip made perfect sense, but I expected the crowd that cheered the person behind the wheel to me more conflicted, since they accepted the significant chance that things would go terribly wrong.
They were purely enjoying themselves and nothing else. No thoughts were had.
Just going to a place like that means you've already lost; what a despicable crowd.
Never been to one, but from being on reddit if I did go to a street takeover and only 1 or 2 people got run over I'd be severely disappointed. I don't think it can technically be called a street takeover until 4 people have broken hips.
they have had them within 1/4 mile of my house in what i always thought was a pretty small intersection. hundreds if not a thousand jerkoffs shooting fireworks (not uncommon but this was a lot at once and not all were actually fireworks) and screaming and throwing bottles at a little one lane crossing two lanes intersection in the suburbs. it is chaos in a way that I can't find any fun in it. i used to do dumb shit, i used to go to parties and be crazy, but i never was in danger of getting hit by a fucking car. ok most of the time.
they remedied at that intersection by putting harsh speed bumps in the places where normal traffic would not be running over them. has worked in that spot.
I don't see why people are still going to these things considering when you hit someone, everyone thrashes your car and beats your ass...

Cars used in these are usually stolen. As for the getting beat up thing, that's kind of the point. I've seen multiple videos of people getting hurt at these, driver or spectator, and before they're even out cold somebody in the crowd starts rifling through their pockets.

I understand that these are kids, and their brains are not fully developed, but how many videos with this exact scenario does it take for them to just think, MAYBE I should just step a couple feet back, and not be in the direct trajectory of the heavy vehicle if he commits even a tiny mistake.
Asking for them to not do stupid things it's the same as asking water not to be wet, but a couple feet back, should be a reasonable amount to ask.
