For instance, Лариса Долина, the song Льдинка. The song was composed in the USSR and the lyrics were made by professional poets, grammatically correct and pretty plain. And the music itself is quite of a high quality in my opinion.
Although the actual lyrics/meaning can be complex, most of their songs have repetitive lyrics, so you can learn a lot of good songs really fast even if you can't quite understand what's said yet.
I highly recommend them, try the жиза album.
Try soviet songs from movies. Not all of them were children's, some were "for all ages" but still. They typically have a simple lyrics made by professional poets.
Just... try watching soviet movies and look at songs you like, I think.
I am going through the same thing learning Spanish. I would not look into what is most popular nowadays, because texts are mostly bad and not too articulated.
I would suggest Russian ballads (автор – исполнитель) - Александр Городницкий, Вадим Егоров, Александр Розенбаум, Юрий Визбор, Булат Окуджава. Their music may not be the most engaging, but there texts are usually grammatically correct, rich in idiomas, and clearly pronounced.
If you want something more entertaining, try Soviet music of the 60s. Эдуард Хиль is one of the best.
There's this one song «Ненавижу» by IC3PEAK that has pretty simple lyrics, but it's still sounds excellent and is amazing to sing! I find a lot of their songs are pretty accessible for beginners :p

And she’s really nice! I met her at a show once:)

Когда-то у меня был сборник нот для фортепьяно для песен из советских мультфильмов. Можно найти что-нибудь такое в сети и просто идти по списку.

I like singing along to Моральней Кодекс)
Maybe not so "easy", but I love the late Marina Krapostina of the Kuban Cossack Choir. You can hear her sing some Ukrainian songs, too. :)
