With the December service change, the blocks have been adjusted to accommodate the Electric buses, giving them more layover time and shorter blocks. 😊
Yeah I don’t get the shorter blocks as long as there’s sufficient layover time, the G line buses with less range often do 13-18 hour blocks with the same charging strategy and less powerful chargers proportional to those buses’ battery size, but maybe I’m missing something
Spotted this Metro J Line Silver BEB Battery Electric Bus #10045 at Civic Center/Grand Park Station. Was in Downtown couple of weeks ago and needed to go to El Monte Station. Unfortunately, it took off as I was crossing the street, so I didn't get the chance to ride it. The next bus was a regular CNG submarine bus. :(
I guess these are the new BYD Electric Buses they're putting into service. I don't ride the J-Line that often, but did spot another J-Line BYD #10023 across the street going the other direction, so it seems they're almost 50% electrified the J-Line now? How's the range and ride comfort on these new electric buses? The old NABI 45' rattles like crazy at highway speeds.
They feel smaller. When the ac goes out it's even more a petri dish, since there are no windows to open. But it's got slow USB charging which is nice. Apparently the bike mounts aren't as good as the old ones. And supposedly the back doors have a delay or timer on them...
I don't remember which item it was, but one of the slides from one of the presentations at the board meeting this month mentioned the J Line is on track for full electrification by the end of this month
It’s more then 50% percent electric since the 45 are only in service during peaks most now sit at division 9 with them now running on the 260/261 some have been transferred to division 3 where you see a few on the 251 and 81

I did notice I was boarding BYDs more than NABIs as of recent
I think there was only one instance where I had a NABI
