It seems like this sexy semi-anime art style is completely lost now, accept for remakes of Metal Gear Solids or Final Fantasy‘s. I‘m pretty sure it has something to do with it being difficult to design, expensive in production and the woke feminist women and men who hate you for no reason. We know how…. today‘s character designs look, especially the western ones.
Please, my friends, I need you to recommend me games like that. I already played FFXV and my heart still bleeds to this day because of that game. It was beautiful. I‘m also going to order Dead Or Alice 5, cause it fits this aesthetic. What are these other ones? Drakengard? Like damn… you would never even hear from these beautiful games if we wouldn’t have Pinterest, a Time Machine which shows you how gaming used to look like.

See? If it would be you, I would’ve never heard of Dynasty Warriors: Origin. If you think it’s good, sure, I’ll buy it! I always just buy games if the right people recommend me it, without even watching 1 second of a trailer. You can imagine how I looked at my TV while playing NieR Automata the first time, completely blind, haven’t even watched a trailer or a second of gameplay.

Damn, DMC4 is still a better looking game than DMC5. Sure, the latter has more polygons, but the style is so much better in 4. I hate that with more computing power the devs just go for realism these days.

One huge caveat: Those characters in that image all came from Japanese games. Japanese titles still all have conventionally attractive characters.
It's the western studios that have resorted to uglifying their characters, and it started happening around 2018-2019 when the metoo movement became a thing.
It started a few years before. From 2018-20 onwards it just became way less subtle
You're probably confusing uglification with desexualization. That shit started happening as early as 2013--Tomb Raider 2013's Lara Croft was clearly geared to have less sex appeal, but at least the devs still gave Lara a pretty-looking and unambiguously feminine face back then.
Same applies to Tecmo Koei's treatment of Dead or Alive 6 in 2019--They tried to hide the female characters' sex appeal (by paywalling all the sexy costumes as DLC), but their faces were still nice to look at.
Yeah, when I thought to myself „damn, gaming doesn’t hit anymore like back then“ I also realised that I was playing Japanese games exclusively back then and western slop today. Not even on purpose, as a kid you just bought the games that were the most appealing to you and my games just always were the Japanese ones.
That’s why I’m playing Asian games exclusively for more than a year know and I don’t even miss 1 western game. In fact, I’m actually overwhelmed with games, there are so many good East-Asian games to play. (Atomic Heart, Stellar Blade, NieR, …)
Some of these I haven't played so I can't speak to their quality, but a few niche ones that quickly comes to mind with a similar aesthetic are Heavenly Sword, Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damned, Blades of Time, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and the entire Fatal Frame series.
Basically, just look up games for the 6th or 7th generation and you'd find characters like that aplenty.
I can speak to The Last Story and say it's one of the most criminally underrated games of all time, and ditto the soundtrack, which is my all time favorite soundtrack of any movie or video game.

Stellar Blade has been the staple for hot women in gaming lately. Wuchang, while tough, is another one. The ladies in Kahzan have been anime pretty. Ninja Gaiden 4’s ladies have that old Team Ninja look that’s been missing since the Itagaki days. Just be forewarned that none of these games are as easy as FFXV. It feels like forever since we had a good JRPG with the stereotypical anime style girls.

We had FFVII Rebirth and we will have FFVII Reunion in the future, but other than that, you’re right: JRPGs with semi-anime girls are no longer that common. And when they come out, they get absolutely bombarded with hate (Stellar Blade).

Intresting you mention FFXV, because it was during that game's development that SE changed and started to move away from the anime-type you're describing. See Lunafreya's transformation as an example. That's when you're starting to see eyebags, imperfect skin, different noses and so forth appear on major characters. It's not a dig at the company - I don't care if they go for realism or "animeism" as long as they can deliver on story and gameplay. Just worth pointing out.
True, but Noctis, Iggy, Gladdy-Daddy, Prompto, Luna, Aranea, these are all still the hottest fucking characters ever, even if their art style changed. Luna in her beautiful dress, Noctis with his awesome hair.

DOA5 is fine in terms of style. It's DOA6 where that went out the window due to "core values".
However, DOA5 is bad because of the DLC. Over $1,000 worth of DLC on Steam!
That said, DOA4 was better than 5. Too bad no PC port of that. It's exclusive to 360.

Bro, I don’t even know which genre I like, I just like hot boys and girls. I saw Noctis and Lunafreya from FFXV, didn’t even watched a second of a trailer or gameplay, bought that game, best game ever. I saw a millisecond of NieR Automata and was like „ordered“, played it, best game ever. I barely hovered my gaze over a Devil May Cry 5 cutscene and just look at these character designs! I instantly ordered that game, like holy shit. Best game ever. And these are like completely different games. I don’t care. I just need to fall in love with the design and I’ll like that game.

I don't recall XC3 being censored. Yes, the designs aren't as skimpy as in XC2, but that doesn't immediately mean it was censored. XC1 didn't have that much skimpiness either; would you call the first game in the series censored as well?

As I mentioned, there are swimsuits, and they show plenty of skin, actually more than the XC2 swimsuits, which were all one-pieces or a sundress. Not to mention that there are multiple skin-tight outfits in XC3 like Segiri's that leave very little to the imagination
By saying that the XC1 women are hot, I imagine you're implying that the XC3 women aren't hot? I really don't see how you can say that. If I compare the High Entia of the party from XC1, Melia, with the one from XC3, Eunie, I don't see this uglification you're talking about
As for the naughty jokes, since it involves something regarding the plot, I'll put it behind spoilertags. The soldiers of Keves and Agnus don't know sex at all, so there are several moments where they're oblivious to the things they're saying or doing, for example when Eunie asked if Gray has babies, or the several times where they're casually undressing in front of others. You may argue that it doesn't actually show anything, but neither did XC2 show anything. If anything, I'd say sexuality plays a much larger role in XC3 than it does in XC2, let alone XC1.
But I'll go back to the actual question I asked. How is the game censored. I need to see that they had to change designs because Nintendo (or some other entity) said no no. Just the designs being less skimpy than its predecessor doesn't mean it's censored, because as I said, then XC1 was also censored compared to XC2, which doesn't even make sense

But yeah so basically i would recommend looking for Japanese PS2 and PS3 games that went with a realistic look, cause they always got that half anime half realism look to them lol i love that style myself and i miss it! And i see others already recommended some i would mention otherwise, like the Yakuza series and Metal Gear. If i remember some more i'll write them in a new comment.

I don't see Soul Calibur characters in your collage. If you haven't played any of the Soul Calibur games I highly recommend 4 and 6. The franchise does a really good job of balancing anime-inspired art and realism,, and the art direction for the levels and world is very good to boot. I've heard 2 and 3 are great but I haven't put a significant amount of time into them, just avoid 5. SC6 has some of the best character designs ever, and it should work on PS5. SC4 was released on PS3 and I think you can find used copies for pretty cheap.
As for when video game characters started to get ugly, it started around 2014 but didn't fully penetrate the Western Gaming industry until around 2018 or 2019 which is also around the time some Asian companies starting moving away from "sexualized" character designs. Dead or Alive 6, for instance, was released in 2018, heavily toned down from previous entries.
