She needs to take a hint from the other woman's video and let her work it out herself š The other womanās kid was not even 2 years old yet and just connected the dots
I remember my kids doing things like this when they got really tired sometimes. Think it's just a meltdown and when you have nothing to meltdown about you make shit up
People think OCD is clean freaks and germaphobes but most of us simply have āoddā compulsions and rituals. She entered via the front door of the closet and the door got stuck. She knows she can exit another way. But due to compulsions, she feels she MUST exit the same way that she entered. Thatās why sheās so upset. This is how my OCD began as a child. It stems from a feeling of lack of control. We try to control our environment. I actually spent years living in a filthy house due to OCD. If I cannot clean something in a very particular certain way, I get upset and will give up or not clean at all. Example: a normal person would take the washing out of the dryer, and then put it away. Not a big deal. I will take it out, want to iron it, not like he way it has ironed, watch a YT video on how to iron it properly, get upset itās not working, fold it, get upset that I donāt like how itās folding, watch a YT video on folding, try to put it away but now I donāt like the way my closet is arranged, get upset, try to rearrange my closet, feel overwhelmed / stressed / hopeless, give up. Now I have clothes everywhere. They canāt just go in the closet now. I feel as though I canāt put anything in the closet because it wouldnāt ābe done rightā.

And a task that can be done in 10 or 15 minutes max. you do it in 2 hours, or more or never.
Iām well aware of that. Itās a symptom of OCD. I do see a therapist for cognitive therapy, but itās not as simple as āhave you tried ⦠not doing thatā.
It's funny looking at this silliness as an adult. However if you look at your life, you might find that you do the same in different and more complex setups. Persisting with a lost cause when there is a much easier solution, but because you invested so much energy already and trying to solve the problem that way, it feels like its the wrong way to take the easy path that is available.
I'd do stuff like that as a kid aswell because it was the only way I knew how to get my mum to notice me and spend time with me. I'd pretend I needed help to get her to spend time with me or pretend I was hurt to get hugs. Getting baby siblings was hard on me š

Yes, exactly right. It is so very frustrating. Iām much better at managing it than I used to, but there are still roadblocks.
Pretty sure she entered the other way ... Where the door is open .
This is pretty common child meltdown stuff. She wants attention or is tired and has found something to get worked up over.
Raised many a child, they all have times like this.
Instead of controlling your environment, try controlling your own thoughts since the compulsion comes from your own thoughts not from the environment.

Not saying anything like that just giving a gently suggestion.
All good. I know you mean well. Itās just a very complicated condition. Iām very lucky that I can afford therapy.
Iād also like to know lol
Theyāre hyper fixated on going out that one way.
....hey we need to know this.... U cant leave us hanging....
This. This right here is why I don't want kids. I don't have the patience for this kind of stupidity.

This would have been a learning moment. When you're hungry come and eat
Excuse me, Haven ?!
I'd walk away. Quit entertaining it.
Babies do this, never seen a kid that age do that
That what happens when you continue to treat a kid like itās a baby.
Honestly at this point, just grabbed the kid and get her out. What else can you do?
āHey honey, I donāt think weāll have to worry about sending this one to college.ā
