I'm more upset about the fact they're abandoning arrowhead. KCK or KC Missouri doesn't matter that much to me since I've moved away from Missouri myself. But arrowhead is a storied place and has a lot of memories. It feels like a betrayal.
I have the same feelings. It already takes me 3hrs to get to a game, so I could care less about 20-30 more minutes down the road. It's all the character and culture inside of Arrowhead and in that parking lot that I'm not ok with losing.
Arrowhead was Lamar’s baby and it’s still an adequate venue. But corporate gonna corporate and fuck up everything good in this world to take money out of your pockets and put it in the share holders pocket.
It’s a greedy decision. Arrowhead is a historic stadium, its unique, louder due to its design, playing outdoors is a significant advantage, it’s significant part of the experience. The new stadium isn’t going to be any of those things and tickets, especially season tickets are gonna cost more. All the while the tax payers are paying for it. People might be mixed on the location but I think most Chiefs fans are not happy to give up Arrowhead and foot the bill
It's a GREAT venue. I love hearing games in arrowhead, when they play at home it's meaningful, there have been days when I felt like the stadium was part of the team.
It feels like a lot of greed and disloyalty from the Hunts. Like, they give us this great team and we're winning and having such a good time after so many years of being kinda ok or downright terrible... And then they take our money and seek out tax breaks to leave us and build a new stadium. It's just a lame reminder that yeah the fans really don't matter.
They were in Dallas for three years. They didn’t have history there. They built the franchise that you see today in Kansas City, Missouri. Not even close to being the same thing.
He left Dallas because the NFL expanded and added the Cowboys. It wasn’t big enough for 2 teams. The sports complex wasn’t even a thought in 1963. Lamar was glad to have Municipal Stadium.
Hell, if they had even been like, “we’re going to move to Kansas, but we plan to build a 85k retractable stadium and, for the first 5 years, current season ticket holders can keep their tickets at the price of the move.”
The building needs an update and the location sucks. I have a lot of memories too but the next generation is gonna make a lot of memories in new Arrowhead that will be just as pure as ours.
Then they’ll bitch on Reddit when new arrowhead needs to be replaced
The new generation will only be corporate sponsors and the high net worth people of KC. Average fans get less seats and more suites. Clark said fuck the fans.
This right here. They just abandoned the most iconic, legendary stadium in the NFL (except maybe Lambeau?) for…what? An entire stadium of of club level snob seating and an absolutely historic fleecing of the taxpayers.
Arrowhead is a relic though. So outdated. The infrastructure renovations to keep it modern and usable for the next 20 years would be nearly as much as it would be to construct an entirely new stadium. You guys act as if they had a choice. Arrowhead has already more than outlived its life span. There has been at least five updates/renovations to try to keep it usable but it’s time.
So much bullshit going on in America, I just don’t have the energy to care about this shit either way. My bread circuses team playing in a different place in 2031 just doesn’t move me too much. I’m too worried about what’s gonna happen in 2026 then some shit 5 yrs down the road. Kansas residents upset about taxes, I’m much more pissed about my taxes funding foreign wars/bailing out crooked govts abroad and genocides then a stupid stadium, maybe that’s just me
Anyone who is upset is mostly due to losing arrowhead. The ones upset about supplementing a billionaire with public funds would be upset about any new stadium regardless of where it is.
Unfortunately that is the world we live in. If the public didn’t fund a good portion of it they would have found a place that would. And some feel like that is the best option. Some don’t. The chiefs wanted a new stadium and they were going to get one. They didn’t leave the metro and that’s a good thing in my book. But like many I have mixed feelings about it all.
You're not. Here's a quick Google response. "Johnson County, Kansas, is generally wealthier than Jackson County, Missouri, consistently showing higher median incomes, property values, and economic indicators, though Jackson County, home to Kansas City, MO, has a larger overall economy and is rapidly growing. Johnson County is the wealthiest in Kansas with higher median household incomes (around $96k+) and property values, while Jackson County, though populous and economically significant in Missouri, shows lower median incomes (around $67k) and property values. "
I'm curious how long the border war pride nonsense carries the water for the Chiefs.
It was about 18 hours of reactionary celebration and gloating from KS and vitriol from MO. Then very rapidly the tune started changing and the national narrative became "KS just cucked themselves hard for the Chiefs" and a lot of border driven sentiment died down.
I'm curious about how things develop and how KS people feel about things going forward. This is obviously a terrible "deal" for your average resident of the KS side metro financially. Is the border war pride enough to guarantee this group of KS government officials jobs for life like they all seem to think or will it eventually be rebuked via an election cycle of ousting the key players?
I don't think any of it matters, the KS government already signed the deal with the devil. But it seems like the typical (and expected) smugness reaction is kinda falling on deaf ears and as far as I can see, that's the only tangible benefit for your average person.
Why? Is it purely a civic pride thing, realities be damned? I am genuinely curious. I grew up in MO close enough to get the border war stuff but far enough away to where it didn't affect me. Does it just come down to "we're happy they're here and not MO?"
I was optimistic when the MO side voted it down just about the future of Americans as a whole. I know you all didn't get a vote, but would you have voted for this then?
Some are upset, some are not.
Groundbreaking stuff here, folks.
Truly, the take of all time
Time to earn that Pulitzer.
“Uh, like…one side is for it but then there’s like, totally some dudes that are definitely against it. It’s total pandemonium out here.”
so long as they don't change the name to Kansas Chiefs I'm fine with them having them
....release the Nagy files

Same
Yah Clark sucks.
In the words of Tony Soprano, all anyone cares about is motherfuckin cocksuckin money.

Agree 100%

You think it won’t be as loud with less people and more suites? How dare you
Won’t somebody think of the poor billionaires!
Let's not act like Lamar wouldn't do the same, he left Dallas for a new stadium in KC afterall
They were in Dallas for three years. They didn’t have history there. They built the franchise that you see today in Kansas City, Missouri. Not even close to being the same thing.

The point is, Lamar was a penny-pinching douchebag just like his shitson. That is all accurate.
Hell, if they had even been like, “we’re going to move to Kansas, but we plan to build a 85k retractable stadium and, for the first 5 years, current season ticket holders can keep their tickets at the price of the move.”
Everyone would have gone for that.
New thing happens. People don’t like change.
The building needs an update and the location sucks. I have a lot of memories too but the next generation is gonna make a lot of memories in new Arrowhead that will be just as pure as ours.

It'll be new reddit at that point

Found the Topekan lol
Dude’s going to burn down his house once it’s 20 years old.

Why not both?
As a former Missouri resident and hard core Chiefs fan of 30 plus years, I'm pretty pissed at this move.
After reading this about this deal, it appears to me that the Chiefs may have done Missouri a favor by screwing the Kansas taxpayers payers.
Anyone who is upset is mostly due to losing arrowhead. The ones upset about supplementing a billionaire with public funds would be upset about any new stadium regardless of where it is.

They are moving a money generator to a wealthier county to promote more g generation of money.
It's not really a fan issue. Nor, does our opinion matter.
Wyandotte is not wealthier than Jackson.
Might wanna check that. That statement was true up until the early 00's. Johnson is king.
Born and raised in Jackson.
The stadium is being built in Wyandotte, not Johnson. Wyandotte is certainly not more wealthy than Jackson.
I checked. I’m right.
You're not. Here's a quick Google response. It’s being built in WYANDOTTE COUNTY!
Holiday booze and chiefs distraction. Solid win by 1st grade logic. Don't know why i got stuck on Johnson County. Haopy holidays.
It’s not the move so much, it is the loss of Arrowhead.

I own property in Wyandotte, I’m still jumping for joy with my wife

My home value will double in the next 5 years. We are in a perfect location. Just closed on our 2nd home in the area. This will make us millions
Unless the house was already in the millions of dollars this will not make you millions lol
Lol if you believe that I got a bridge an astute real estate man like yourself will love.
Short term rentals?
eh. national perception wise we have some reputation to burn after we rejected that anti-abortion proposition in 2022
I'm happy you all won't be forced to give birth to new tax revenue generators for the Hunts. So touche.
Kelce and Mahomes on the Jumbotron?
What's done is done. Time to move on to bigger and better things, like beating the Broncos tonight.
You mean “betting the Broncos”?
I think the appropriate response is "who cares".
I dont respect Missouri very much at all but at least they didnt allow themselves to be held hostage by shitty billionaire sports owners
This is a league that can't read the room and remove the Covid-era end zone messaging. I certainly don't expect them to do right by a fan base.
Only sad about how special Arrowhead is. If the new stadium was an exact clone of Arrowhead, it'd be fine by me.
Depends on weather your from Kansas or every where else.
