I think being able to match the energy of the people around you is a normal human characteristic. i.e. I am Canadian and if I am say playing online games with some american friends I have less of a canadian accent. If I am sitting around the campfire with my canadian friends drinking molson's then i'm gonna have more of a stereotypical canadian accent. If I am at work I will speak more professionally, etc etc.

For context: My husband is a chiefs fan from Missouri and I’m an eagles fan from PA. Travis has had a long career playing at the top of his profession for many years. When he retires, he has a successful podcast, is going to be in the HOF, and seems to enjoy making Adam Sandler movies. I will never be as successful as Travis Kelce and neither will they.
Yeah and that's disregarding continued work he'd have with charities, his endorsements, and anything else he wants to get up to aside from the podcast/Sandler movies. Look at Jason Kelce, his playing career ended but he's got a ton going on still.
Plus Travis' career longevity for a TE is pretty incredible as well. It's clearly just people who don't understand what they are talking about trying to get one over on people more successful. Those places and people are super weird like you said.
