I just got my first bass. My favorite way to learn is by playing songs i like. I already did it that way when learning guitar. I know some Gizz songs have more intricate bass lines i eventually want to learn. But what are some easy ones that are easier to quickly pick up as a beginner?
The breakdown in Mars for the Rich!
😅🤣🤣🤣
I'd definantly recommend the In Your Mind Fuzz suite! It sounds like Lukey is playing mainly the same bassline throughout!
Would be either Stu or Joey on the album. Lucas rarely played on any album until recently.
nope that was lucas… he plays all bass on mind fuzz
Thats just cause usually Stu or Joey are who write it but Lucas still plays it live
He didn't play bass on most of the studio albums though, I didn't realise he was on mind fuzz
Kepler is a favourite of mine, really has a groove to it.
Lots of gizz bass lines are honestly fairly easy. I'll add to the suggestions The Grim Reaper and robot stop! Robot stop has kind of tricky rhythm but if you listen to it it's not bad.
Gizz songs in general are about as easy to play as they get
there's plenty! songs from quarters like the river or lonely steel sheet flyer are where i started, pretty easy bass lines but also some fun licks to keep it slightly varied
Mind fuzzzzzz
Hot water
Polygondwanaland
I’m Not A Man is an easy and tasty groove.
Intrasport is petty easy, bitter boogie as well
Just thinking about it, Le Risqué sounds pretty straightforward.
Wah Wah! It's good for practising moving around the frets and it's fun to play along with. And from Wah Wah, you can get to The River.
Hot Wax is also very easy and a good finger exercise. (I say this as a really crap bassist.)
Heyyyy! I got a new bass today too hell yea <3!!!!
The river, bitter boogie, and exploding suns come to mind for me. There is a spreadsheet with known tabs floating around somewhere, but I don’t have a link.
The spider in me is a great bassline, might take a little bit of time and there’s some tabs on YouTube, but it sounds great and is fairly straightforward especially for sketches!
The Mind Fuzz Suite is easy to learn. Also, Polygondwanaland isn't that hard despite being in a different time signature.
mars for the rich is so fun but has a nice learning curve. recommend for learning bass
Beginner's Luck!
Horology is super fun
There’s a good Crumbing Castle lesson on YouTube. Time signatures can be tricky but the notes themselves are fairly easy and it’s fun to play.

+1 to the Mind Fuzz and Mars suggestions above though.
Nuclear Fusion
Polygondwanaland title track is a fun one. You could also transpose the microtonal notes from most of FMB and just "round" up or down accordingly and play most of them pretty easily that way. Alot of mind fuzz has easy bass too
This thing!
My favourites are the Nuclear Fusion, Bitter Boogie, and Real's not Real bass lines!
