It’s full of leftist trolls and the mods are sleeping. Actual Republicans are being downvoted to oblivion. It won’t be missed.
To the actually good leftists, I’m sorry so many horrible people claim to be like you.
Also, please don’t brigade the sub as it violates Reddit’s rules and this sub’s rules.
Politics nowadays in general is just a complete waste of time and effort
Everytime I say this a random Redditor will come in with: “But everything is political 🤓”
Like stfu. How does my bicycling hobby have anything to do with politics. I just need a break after work lol
I remember seeing and debating an “all art is poltical or has poltical intent” post/comment section, and as someone who does like to draw from time to time, the “everything is political” argument, just doesn’t make any sense.
It especialy doesn’t make sense in the context of art, unless your definition of art is only limited to: Parody, and certain popular hollywood media and certain video games, or unless you make the argument that anything attached to money, is political.
Basic drawings of objects like flowers, portraits of family, and paintings of animals, do not exist within in their definition of what is art. Only a view that sees everything, as a political message, if that media so much as even mentions a cent.
It’s really strange, because it tries to put all art into a very ridged category of 1 singular thing, often times having to pick apart and stretch the definition of what is political. It’s a very “the curtain is blue” kinda thing.
I agree, like how are you gonna make taping a Banana to a wall political, like that would be the reach of the millennia
It highlights how our capitalist and consumerist minds pay to see something so stupid in a museum ☝️🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Lmao
Art is political because political actors will try to control what artists do if they are ignored. Some artists push the edge of what is acceptable in a cultural sense, but the greater risk in history is exactly that political leaders will censor art and punish artists for doing really basic stuff: drawings of flowers, portraits of families, paintings of animals. Even having intelligible words in music has been attacked in history by unpopular leaders with violent suppression tactics.
The first step to being censored is believing that your type of art is immune.
Political actors do go out of there way to push agenda by censoring others, however a poltican actor censoring someone’s art, even when it’s basic art of flowers or a family, doesn’t necessarly make the art poltical.
It makes the political actor, poltical, specificly if said actor will also twist that art, as politicial, in order to justify censoring it.
I've seen people say political in the philosophy sense, but 99% of people who say that nowadays do not care about philosophy politics
THE BIKE ECONOMY JACK!
Well, obviously bicycles can vote! That makes them political, duh!
you joke, but our provincial leader (brother of the former crack smoking mayor of toronto) is overriding our city council and attempting to rip up my cities bike lanes.
I mean I don't believe everything is political but biking has a lot to do with politics... urbanism, infrastructure, municipal politics, car-centrism...
You’re the person he’s talking about. Of course everything is political if you pick it apart like what you did but not everything HAS to be political. It doesn’t always have to be the main topic in every moment and place. It’s hard to put it into words. Doesn’t really matter what side you’re on, we all love hobbies and shit so don’t ruin it just for political sake.
He asked what his biking hobby has to do with politics. I answered. You're welcome to stake out the claim that biking has nothing to do with municipal politics or land use though
For someone so interested in politics, you sure are ass at understanding what a “rhetorical question” is.
Anddddd there it is
I get what you mean, and it can be exhausting when it’s shoehorned in, but my provinces premiere (doug ford) is currently in the process of trying to rip up the bike lanes that our CITY COUNCIL passed.
kind’ve forces it to be a political issue when your provincial leadership is like “silly city dwellers.. you don’t actually want bike lanes you voted for, we know what’s good for you!”.
Yes. But R/Republican? Kinda political, no?
It must be nice to not have your life directly impacted by the horrible decisions of the current administration. I'm sure the rest of us wish we could just ignore politics.
Yes it is nice to not have a single person live rent-free in my head 24/7.
if that single persons decisions don't affect you that would make sense. unfortunately we're talking about the president of the united states.
Who said 24/7? Sorry, should we all ask you how often we are allowed to complain about something that literally directly impacts our lives?
People are literally dying, losing their ability to afford healthcare, losing their ability to feed their kids, losing their ability to pay for education, directly because of your vote. And now you're telling them to shut up about it? How fucking selfish can one person be?
Healthcare, food, and education were hard to afford before Trump. Besides, I didn’t vote.
And now they're impossible to. Literally, millions of Americans were just cut from medicaid. For some, that is the only way to afford their life-saving medication.
Education loans were either significantly reduced (Stafford loans) or cut completely (Grad PLUS), rather than capping tuition costs. This effectively makes higher education (particularly, anything above bachelors level, including becoming a doctor, dentist, veterinarian, etc.) impossible for the poor to afford. Not unlikely, not hard, impossible. You cannot get a non-predatory private loan without good credit or a cosigner with good credit. If you come from generational poverty, you'll have neither.
Aside from the direct effect on poor students themselves, this will also only serve to worsen our doctor shortage. The doctor shortage + medicaid cuts will inevitably lead to an increase in rural hospitals shutting down, leaving entire areas without any healthcare coverage. What do you do when you're having a medical emergency and the nearest hospital is an hour away? You die. An hour drive is still an hour drive in an ambulance.
Sure, everything was hard before. Now it's exponentially worse, and even impossible to overcome for many of our fellow Americans.
Any sources for that? I got the feeling those are highly exaggerated.
Sure. Here's a document from the Congressional Budget Office estimating that 10 million people will become uninsured within the next 10 years following the cuts to healthcare spending (the brunt of which, is medicaid). Here's a longer article with more details and a bunch of sources, particularly citing multiple CBO reports with links.
To add to this, here's a fact sheet with a bunch of linked sources from the American Hospital Association, detailing the extent to which rural hospitals already rely on medicaid, that is now being cut. According to the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment reform, one third of all rural hospitals are already at risk of closing, even before the medicaid cuts. Over 300 hospitals are at immediate risk of closing. With how much rural hospitals rely on medicaid, this will only get worse (I cant link to this bc it's a PDF but if you Google the name I mentioned it will come up).
Here are just a few examples of hospitals and clinics that have already closed specifically because of these cuts:
Kaleida Health, Buffalo, NY
Kurtis Medical Center, Nebraska
3 of Augusta Medical Group's primary care facilities
As for the doctor shortage aspect, here's the American Medical Association saying that the education loan cuts proposed in the Big Beautiful Bill (now law) will make medical school unaffordable for most students. Thus, further exacerbating our doctor shortage, which was already bad beforehand.
If you're wondering about the implications of us having less doctors, here's a JAMA article outlining that less doctors = greater mortality rates in affected communities. We must also consider the possibility that less doctors + hospitals losing more money will also = even more hospital closures in rural communities.
Yeah, man, I’m sure your life is that horrible right now because of Trump while you’re safe at home browsing Reddit all day or playing video games. Stop exaggerating. Yeah, I agree there are some bad things happening, but it’s not that bad that you have to talk about it 24 hrs a day.
how bad does it need to be for people to complain about it?
On a constant level? It would have to be a dictatorship at least.
[deleted]
Another person who has no idea what that actually means. You people are fucking exhausting
Who said anything about 24 hours a day? Are we just not allowed to complain about things that directly impact our life because YOU don't wanna hear what your vote did?
Millions of Americans are now without health insurance. This means that they will no longer be able to afford life saving medication and those of them that need it, will die.
The administration also cut loans for education rather than capping tuition prices. This means that the poor are now effectively barred from higher education, such as becoming a doctor. Because it is literally not possible to pay for those rates without government loans, and private loans are either predatory, or will not loan to those without a cosigner/decent credit. The long term outcome of this? Our doctor shortage is going to get significantly worse. Between this and the medicaid cuts, more rural hospitals are going to be closing, leaving large areas without coverage. Which inevitably means that more people will die when the closest hospital is 45+ minutes away.
Sorry y'all don't wanna hear it but, you fucked the country. Significantly. In a way that I only pray is repairable before too many Americans suffer, die, or lose their livelihood as a result of your vote.
the thing is, not everything is political. Maybe you personally don't pick apart everything, but there's people on Reddit that try so hard to make everything political. I'm 100% serious when I tell you that a few months ago I saw someone legit trying to convince another Redditor that their fecal matter and flatulence is political. That comment thread was in a non political sub.
how is the tulip I planted political? How is my cat who is sleeping on his cat tree political? I just need to know!
THAT I understand completely lol. I had a coworker like that, who I agreed with politically, but they would not shut up about it at work. And we worked in a hospital, so definitely not the appropriate time.
But the OP commenter I replied to commented as if any politics at all is something not worth being invested in, despite its immediate and current impact on the American people.
Surely there's a middle ground between: "Politics don't matter as long as they don't personally affect me" and "I'm going to talk about politics every second of every day"?
Any sort of political discussion on Reddit is a complete waste of time. Every political sub on either side of the isle is an echo chamber with no room for actual debate or nuance.
Any political discussion online is fruitless, no one ever changes his/her opinion.
Only talking with real people you have a relationship with can be any success
Can confirm. I lost brain cells arguing with somebody last night.
When someone brings up claims (valid or not) that disagree with consensus, they get downvoted, sometimes banned, and harassed.
It's easier to harass and insult instead of using our brains.
Mainly because of stuff like the upvote system where it doesn't reward actual truth, it just rewards what people on the sub like
A few days ago there was an obviously trans fetishizing post was disgusting and after a nice debate I got banned for 3 days. Love the freedom of expression
People on reddit will cry transphobia and then just treat trans people like sex objects lol
I might dislike Republicans but I honestly find trolling other subs childish let people be
It's unfortunate but both sides have their own trolls and stuff
I visited it months ago and I didn't see very many left leaning people or much fighting between users, maybe it's changed since I left it. I left it because even though I agree with some posts, I'd rather not be in political echo chambers and think more individually.
It is as you said. Especially with more recent events.
People are flat out lying on twitter about it. Absolute insanity.
The unemployed brigaded it
LOL
Nothing says you’re right like completely silencing your opponent but it’s ok because leftists are wholesome chungus 😍😁😍😁
What is an “actual Republican” these days?
Someone like John Kerry or John McCain or Liz Cheney or David Frum? Someone you might agree or disagree with but could still credibly say they believed they were sometimes making hard choices but still something realistic, constitutional, useful for the people, and compatible with basic norms of civilization in a free country?
Or by “Republican” do you mean these MAGA lunatics currently trying to destroy democracy, 80 years of multilateral alliances, the rule of law, the sovereignty of multiple countries, and several centuries of rights & freedoms, based on the whims of a doddering narcissist?
Or by “Republicans” do you mean all the ones who know better but decided to ride the coattails as far as it could take them instead of doing the responsible thing and shutting this down 9 years ago. Or even 5 years ago they still could have done the right thing and restored some dignity to their party.
Which ones do you expect to be diligently managing the sub?
Anyone not a maggot is a leftist troll these days
Genuinely, what does it mean to be republican?
Same with democrat. I hate it when people ask me if I am democrat or republican. I’m a human being for gods sake.
Tbh, thats kinda why I usually think that most people are "centrists". They just wanna live their life and not believe in crazy hardline politics.
Right. I think we should take care of people. Democrats are the party that more consistently takes care of people.
One being better doesn't mean it's good, you aren't obligated to attach your name to a political party
Okay, thanks for the fun facts. Anyway, it doesn’t mean anything to be democrat or republican because there is no sign up page, it’s just football team logic. That’s wrong.
What's the issue here? I can look at the letter next to a name and know whether or not they vote against literally feeding hungry kids. You can't debate otherwise.
Nice you’ve turned around on your original comment for the sake of political grandstanding. I’m not even right wing by the way, so this move ended up pointless in the end.
What about the people who are registered as no party affiliation? Do you think they voted for or against feeding hungry kids?
Why do people care so much
to mindlessly follow what people with money and power say
EDIT: they will downvote me, they will not offer a rational explanation of how I'm wrong
Where are you lying tho? The whole political system is a scam tbh
Honestly, both of you are speaking facts. Politics just serves to divide us when we are better united.
I'm not. This is just a very partisan subreddit.
This is just an alt-right curclejerk, not very partisan
Everything you don’t like is alt-right
Using lotta buzzwords now are we?
"full of leftist trolls" is that not the sub where every post is made by bots, you have to be verified as a republican to speak and the mod's remove everything that isn't support for trump?
I think that's r\conservative
Yeah I left that sub too since it is an actual circlejerk
Lmao fr. The headlines for the articles are just insane, you don't think for yourself in that subreddit. If you don't suck Trump cock in that subreddit you're not a real conservative.
That's r conservative, it sucks ass as well
Were they all leftist trolls or republicans with a spine and some kind of moral compass who don’t want to be seen standing up for a pedo fascist?
Go look at the sub, though you’re probably one of them.
Sadly.. not a shock. Those trolls are all over Reddit. They’re incapable of having a genuine conversation.. and hate anyone who might slightly disagree with them. They’ve been eating their own for years now. I used to be a democrat (classical liberal) until these people took the party over. They’re horrible.
So now Republicans decide you dont like trolling...

Respectfully, there are no longer real Republicans because y'all put a manual in charge eleven years ago.
Lol
Aww was your echo chamber not echo-chambery enough anyomore?
Cope, loser. I left Conservative exactly because it was an echo chamber. Go back to your own, kid.
I'm so sorry for hating on republicans, it's just that most defend such truly cruel policy and a leader, I get angry :(
This sub has become a total right wing circle jerk.
Every sub is a circle jerk to some degree
Exactly. Reddit is the app where many people thinking the same things come together and talk about it. Of course Reddits gonna have the most echo chambers. Doesn’t have to be political either. You could go onto film critic sub reddits and there’s probably a hive mind on there too.
I’m tired of polslop what can I say?
When there’s so much hate towards them, no wonder. I’m actually left wing economically according to a political compass test but I’m tired of the 5328837th “right wing == Hitler” post/comment, many of which are directed at me since I don’t agree wholeheartedly with them. Some were willing to go even further, if you know what I’m saying.
like 75% of posts now are just complaining about republican hate
Always has been.
I vote center-left on everything except guns, and I patently avoid political subs. Having said that, seeing someone leave a casual-right sub that is supposed to be for discussing republican ideas and policies because of this trolling and brigading is fucking ridiculous.
This makes me want to set up a bunch of militant centrist bots to purge some subs and maybe normalize Reddit again, but with human social trajectory online, I don't even think that would fix it.
Most of the left has gone too extreme and so has the right. People say fence sitting is bad, but I don't want to be involved with any of these maniacs. It's sad to see everything get turned into a left vs right issue and even sadder to see people block out what the other has to say just because of where they stand politically. It's completely ruined a lot of folk.
It’s become a huge argument nowadays with the left being on one side and the right on another. Therefore it shouldn’t even be called fence sitting; it is more like hearing both sides of the argument, which I believe is the best way to go about things, allowing people to think for themselves.
Could be due to what republicans are currently enabling
Is there any good political space online? Everywhere it's just people parroting the same bullshit ive heard a million times, there's no actual discussion it's just a full cuck circle of worthless words
I wish republicans the worst. Maybe elect a criminal con man if you want to be respected.
Especially the recent ICE violence. Republican policy caused that Renee Good to die directly. I can’t fed post, wish I could!
Y’all elected a child sniffer 😂
Also that was entirely on her for trying to run the officer over. If she had simply followed directions, it could have all been avoided.
You’re delusional if you think her intent was running the officer over. Have you watched the video? At best she is resisting being detained.
The officer shifts in front of the car, whips his gun out and shoots her. Wouldn’t expect a Republican to know shit about lawful use of force. How did Floyd die?
Biden putting his nose on a few kids in public for pictures is better than being in the Epstein files. You and your people are societal decay. Fox and alt media has you living in an alternate reality
I have. Multiple POVs, including his own. It’s a blatant attempt to run him over, and you’re the delusional one for denying it. She reversed to line her car up with him and gunned it. But ICE == evil and protestors == good, so of course she is innocent 🤡
Also, Biden not only sniffed kids but showered with his daughter, according to her own diary. He’s more of a pedo than Trump ever was.
Every accusation by the left is a confession.
Your idea of someone trying to ram someone just suspiciously looks like someone driving away. Even if she was doing that, do you think shooting her was a good idea? No, it obviously wasn’t, it doesn’t stop the car, and only adds more danger.
Did you see how the car went out of control when he shot her? Imagine if someone was in the car it crashed into? Or if someone else was in the way. That idiot only made the situation worse. A stain on law enforcement.
Again, dodging on the Epstein files, like all you fascists do. My mother showered with me as a child as well. This isn’t big deal, unless she was older than 9-10. It’s vague, and can mean multiple things.
Trump making comments that he wants fuck his daughter I think are more abhorrent. Or maybe how he likes to grab actress’s pussies? One person is just more moral. But you lack the spine to distinguish between Trump cum and holy water.
Her diary said it was “probably inappropriate.” But I guess you don’t like to read things that may upset your poor baby self. Renee didn’t give a fuck about the “fascist” ICE agent. She wouldn’t have lost sleep if he died, and by the looks of things, neither would you. Blocked and reported. Have a nice ban 🤡🤡🤡
Classic.
