It sucks because I love the concept of the sub, and I've posted a couple things there myself. I just sigh now when a post is anything regarding US politics or religion is made. I really wish there was a rule there that forbade posting political notes, and to be more respectful if a paper is posted pertaining to a religion they might not like.
Earlier someone posted a picture of a sticky note they found at the grocery store, essentially saying that Republicans will take over the country and everyone will regret it. Comments are typical Reddit leftist circlejerking, and anyone who wasn't dooming with them was downvoted. Also plenty of people saying they were gonna start leaving similar sticky notes around their towns (even though a majority of them admitted to living in blue areas anyway, so it's just preaching to the choir). Also claimed that it was the same as when people would leave anti-Nazi flyers in Nazi Germany. Just typical Reddit doomer bullshit.
The other thing is whenever a found paper involves Christianity, the comments are pretty hateful. I've seen one single person mention this there, and they got downvoted IIRC. I replied to them to say that I've noticed it too, people being spiteful about anything Christianly posted to that sub. I got downvoted and someone replied essentially saying that they don't care how Christians feel because they "shove their religion down everyone's throat" by leaving flyers around. To give you context, this exchange was on a post about what seemed to be a child who made a secret hidden flyer that contained directions on how to play their Christian video game that they're developing.
BUT.... there's another somewhat common trope on that sub, which is people uploading supposed witchcraft items & papers that were left on their property by an unknown source. You bet the comments are gonna be clean and full of people respectfully deducing what the things mean in the post. You never see anyone say negative things about these witchcraft posts. So a child hiding a letter that advertises their new video game is shoving religion down others' throats, but these supposed witches leaving their spells and items and blah wherever they want (99% of the time it's on some rando's property) is totally fine and we should respect the item and treat it with care. That's freaky as fuck.
I'm just tired of the blatant hypocrisy and bullshit Reddit doomerism that seems to have spread to this sub as well. It really sucks because I actually quite like the normal posts on the sub that don't devolve into bullshit, it's really nice seeing the messages and papers. I might lurk back every once in a while to see if anything cool has been posted, but I'm not gonna actually be part of the sub anymore like I used to be. Such a damn shame.
Yeah, it sucks. It mostly looks like stuff people wrote themselves and pretended they found it.
yeah, it sucks when such things happen.
Reddit is a deeply sick, unhealthy place.
Then every now and then you click on r-popular, and you realize, no, it's much worse.
I don’t know why someone downvoted you because you couldn’t be anymore correct if you tried.
I'm a Christian who hates politics and yeah I think it's ironic how some people will say "Christians are so judgmental and close-minded". You don't know me but I'm the one who's judgmental? It's okay to disagree with my beliefs, but it's really hypocritical yet comical to say all Christians are hateful so it's okay to hate them.
As for politics, I think there are people on BOTH ends of the political spectrum that live in fear of the other side, and it's sad and unnecessary. Most of the things they're worried about have nothing to do with them. Some people on the right live in fear of their rights being taken away, which I can understand, but even if that happens just appreciate your rights while you have them, and use them for good, instead of being angry and paranoid.
