Auction. Where I live thereâs a few of these owned by the mega rich wives and they all live at 1-3 foot sea level. Itâs not uncommon for a random thunderstorm to flood the shit out of their driveways and âtotalâ or whatever⌠these super nice cars.
A lot of doctors have shit credit and spending happens.
Source: I counsel almost as many about their finances as I did marines. You spend 18-30 with 0 money and then suddenly are making ~30k a month, chances are youâre not gonna learn how to spend responsibly since you couldnât spend anything before.
In 1985 I came back from a year of overseas duty on a USNS ship that only hit port once a month, except for the entire summer we spent in Greece. I had just over 8.5k in the banks and was down to 6.2K which meant spending each paycheck and still dipping into my account. Yeah, Greece was a riot. When I got back I had managed to get it back up to 8k because the last two ports we hit were Djibouti and Mogadishu.
I used to walk the car lots on Sundays looking for Corvettes. Finally I found a Midnight Blue that was all tricked out for $8500. So I went back the next day after work and we put a deal together. I told the salesman I had 7k to put down and he said, "No you don't, you have 5k." He then told me that I would need some money to go out and enjoy the car with, and to pay for insurance for a year and gas and stuff like that. The sales manager wrote it up with 4.5k down and told me there would be no real change. Next day they said that they would have the car all ready. So I told my Chief and Div O that I was buying a Corvette and could I have the afternoon off. They told me I could leave at 2.
Anyway, three days later I get a message that NIS wants to interview me, I thought it was about a forklift that I helped steal, but nope, they wanted to know how a brand new E5 could afford a Corvette. The supervisor said, I make double than you and I can't afford a Corvette. Part of me wanted to say "Don't get snippy with me if you can't manage money" But I said, "Well, I guess yah got me, I've been selling Red Lead on the black market.
When I was stationed in Newport we had a QM2 whose parents lived there and he grew up there. His dad was some kind of big shot for a bank, and QM2 Henson used to drive around in a Mercedes 450 SL and meet his dad at a club for lunch. I asked him "Why did you join the Navy?" He said all of his relatives had joined the Navy as Quartermasters since WW1 His grandfather was in WW2, his dad was in Korea and Vietnam. He said it was a family tradition, the great grandfather had begun it, 4 years USN then off to college, The Navy was supposed to make you grow up, and develop a serious drinking tolerance.
Daddyâs money bitch. It was a dream of mine to go up to the CG and ask him what his dream car is and tell my dad to buy me one to flaunt it in CGâs face

I hope for my sanity this is a post-marine corps boot, not an active.
