Hello all,
I have taken over moderation of this subreddit. As such, I've instated some basic rules. My goal is to uphold quality and grow the subreddit. I'm fairly new to this whole thing, so if you think there's something I could do better, please message me via modmail or just DM me.
In addition, if you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to reach out either.
One suggestion I'd propose is the length of the recordings being at least 30 seconds long.
I like this idea. I've been contemplating also requiring posters to include their target accent too. But yeah, gonna think about your suggestion over the next few days and it will likely be implemented. Thank you.
No recording outside, and no recording via bluetooth devices like airpods. Record directly into a phone or computer mic while inside.
I like that one!
Hi. I'm new here but maybe, in order to be able to make a consistent judgement, people should read the text (for each language), so that it can be compared.
Nah, naturally speech is so much more useful.
As in, you think there should be a standard text for each language that people read? Or, that people should only read text (as opposed to improvising)?
I was thinking of a common text for everyone, but it's true you'll miss fluency. Maybe both could combine: a short presentation (improvised) + a common text.
