Hi everyone!

I’m planning my first trip to Japan from Mar 29–Apr 13, 2026, arriving and departing from Tokyo. I am a solo traveller

Route:

Tokyo (Mar 29–Apr 3) → Kyoto (Apr 3–8, with day trips to Uji & Nara) → Osaka (Apr 8–10) → Mt Fuji area (Apr 10–12) → Tokyo (Apr 12–13).

I enjoy both iconic sights and quieter areas, but I’m trying to avoid the most overwhelming crowds, especially during sakura season. I’m already planning early starts and skipping Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.

I’d really appreciate help with two things:

  1. Weather/temperatures – How did late March to early April feel for walking all day? Did you need jackets in the mornings/evenings? Any rain or wind considerations?

Should I include Kanazawa . I am planning to go to Disney sea and do a day trip to kamakura from tokyo??

Should i go to Hakone or mt. Fuji ??

  • I went in April 2023 when Japan recently opened, so low crowd levels throughout. Temps ranged from 10-20C, so I wore a zipped-up jacket/sweater. Sometimes there was a mild, cool breeze. I mostly kept the jacket on during the hottest time of the day but left it unzipped as it was more troublesome to carry around. Seldom rained - my rainiest day was at Universal Studios but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as most rides ended up walk-on.

World Spa in Osaka was surprisingly calm at late night (went here right after Universal Studios)

Hey !! Thank you so much for the reply . How many days did you spend in Kyoto ??

I went to Kyoto a long time ago in December 2010 for just one day.

  • Just wanted to say i am going for the exaxt same dates as you! Good luck and have fun!
