I always come to this group when I need support, I love this community:)
I have an HSG test probably this month in the Rotunda. How was your experience? Any recommendations? My doctor prescribed me antibiotics for this.
I am a nervous patient-totally ok with smear tests (even though my cervix is a difficult one) and I had a Hysteroscopy that wasn’t bad at all. I had a cervical biopsy before Christmas and I really had a bad time, so I am dreading this test. I even have nightmares!
Thanks so much ladies!!!
I got a HyCosy in a private fertility clinic (no issues) and I asked for a Valium for nerves in advance, they had no problem giving me one!
Thanks so much! So I guess it wasn’t painful for you? That is amazing, I am so nervous
No I really didn't feel a thing it was absolutely fine, smear test was worse! Now having said that if you do have a blockage anywhere it can be painful so it really depends! Hopefully you're clear!
I’ve only had a hycosy, but if you have had a hysteroscopy without GA this should be easier! Bit uncomfortable and pressure initially and then when they insert the dye it was a very bad cramp for me for about 20 seconds and then all over 😊 I hate smears etc but it wasn’t too bad looking back! I’m on the list for hsg too in rotunda, were you waiting long for appointment? They said 3-4 months to me, waiting on CD 1 atm.
Oh good, so you know what to expect! I have been waiting since September. To be honest, in November they offer me an appointment but I couldn’t take it and the days I could do the test in December I was away in my home country for Christmas. So hopefully I will get one in January. Be aware that sometimes they will call you short notice when they have a cancellation, it happened in November to me, but as I said, I couldn’t take it, pity! Good luck! ;)
Thank you! Hope you get yours this month and it goes well xx
I had an HSG a couple months ago. I took same pain meds I would take for period pain about 40 mins before the procedure. This is what i was adviised to do, no mention of antibiotics though. Turned out my fallopian tubes were blocked so it was uncomfortable because of the added pressure but it was over in a few seconds. While it was uncomfortable I wouldn't mind doing it again if I had to.
OMG I needed this comment, I am so scared! Thanks so much for spending time replying, so sorry the tubes were blocked and I hope everything goes well
I had a HyCoSy and it was absolutely grand, smears are way worse. I also have an awkward cervix.
I am glad to hear, I hope HSG is not hugely different from HyCosy, thanks so much
I was sedated for mine! 10/10 would recommend I hate medical procedures, I would be sedated for everything if I could 😆
