I have a degree in Philosophy and write on/ research emerging tech. I'd love to have some stimulating online discussions with anyone on certain provocative/ fascinating futuristic topics. Examples: GenAI & job losses, deep fake, decline of human intelligence corelating to incline in AI intelligence.
Please DM me if you'd like to try a session
I'm all for you making friends and finding whatever you want to seek, but why not post some of your ideas here to get the ball rolling for a great discussion?
Because he probably doesn't want to either get trolled, or reported for posting something that is supposedly irrelevant, by people who think that focusing on the partisan bitch fight is the only thing that this subreddit is for. If you try and discuss anything here which is not focused on partisan conflict, someone (usually conservatives) immediately objects, and that goes double if the topic is related to AI. The level of anti-AI hysteria among conservatives is about as painful as the oppositional moral hysteria that they tend to engage in towards virtually anything new.
I think it’s weird that people can now hide all their post and comment history.
For some reason, this guy seems to really like that option?
I would suggest if you’re going to have private conversations with them that you make sure you secure those conversations. Maybe he’s trying to steal some ideas.
I just found out the other day that you can pick that as an option for private conversation, I guess this is so that people cannot remove them afterwords
Just talk about it publicly. That's what Reddit is meant for: Public discussion
That said, I have a hot take that goes against the grain. I don't think AI is going to destroy the labor market the way most people think. I think it WILL lead to deflation and lower wages, but I think the massive productivity increases and cost reductions, will end up being more net material gains. As people shift around jobs after job losses, they will find new ones, that probably pays significantly less, but everything will become so much cheaper, it'll end up more in our favor.
Narc!
Go ahead, pitch those ideas!
Hello, I'm usually more political person, but this probably also gonna be funny
Have you read If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies? I'd love to talk about human blind spots and the (commercially driven) inevitability of superintelligent AIs.
No way I'm jumping straight into a video call with you, tho. First, because privacy. Second, because video is low-density information transfer. Third, because you asked the question here, so let's get some thoughts in writing first.
I thought AI was stalled due to a hard technical limit, is that not right?
Nice invite , I would be happy to discuss the future with you. I was curious what your thoughts on UBI are?
Please DM me to arrange. I haven't thought much about UBI, but it's an interesting topic. If you'd like to discuss that, I may be open to that option.
I think people are interested to see the discussion.
Why are you insisting on private conversations?
Online conferencing where we can have a stimulating back-&-forth discussion. Closer to debates irl and makes for more profitable and enjoyable treatment of a topic.
I’m not familiar, like a video call of some type?
Is there someplace I can watch these?
Yes, a video call of some type. Actually, it's also because I am trying to wean myself from social media. It distracts with my work. I do similar video call discussions on deradicalization and it feels revitalizing.
Are they available to the public?
I have been interviewed on podcasts, radio shows, TV - mostly on deradicalization
If I have a discussion with you, can I post it on my own channel?
Of course.
I’m always up for a conversation about giving people more power, I believe with proper information we will get the best deradicalization that we can expect.
I’m in talks right now with a guy who feels that AI can help mirror information back to society to give everyone a base reality.
He and I both feel that the project that my small group is working can really help in this disregard.
You will find our work at: https://www.kaosnow.com
I would have to check with him before I share his work with you MM
I’m going to assume you’re more republic than Democratic.
Are you willing to have your beliefs challenged ?
Universal Basic Income, right? I'd like to explore:
