Just pondering modern 3-gun mods for the historic Original Semi. Could machining the loading port open, a speed load follower, extended mag (not Auto-8), oversized bolt handle and bolt release, Vang Comp, synthetic furniture, trigger job, Cerakote, flashlight and a low-mount red dot revitalize JMB’s classic? Or is the clunker ker-chunker too slow heavy and old for the task?
Would it be a great project for a beater gun ? Absolutely. Would it sell? Absolutely not.
I know the correct answer is “1301”; just pondering.

No. The main "issue" with the Auto-5 is the long recoil system. Even upgrading everything else, it will still be a slower and more difficult-to-control system compared to any decent modern system.
