President Maarten Jansen of the Netherlands wishes to restore his countries place in the world as a prime trading candidate, while also retaking it's overseas territories, (i.e South Africa) and claiming some new ones while forging allies through trade routes to make itself the lead trading empire in the world, and maybe even making himself head of an international trade guild.
