Greetings. I'm like 1000 hours in, I stopped playing around the time eu5 dropped, and I just opened a new game. Now when I start with Kush, there's loads of areas that I can colonize along the Nile. Is this some bug?

No, pretty sure you have Invictus in your mods. New update added new areas.
Yeah thats what I thought, but some of the new areas are in the nile, and have no name. as shown in this screenshot:

There areas are impassable terrain normally. The color is the empire territory, but it is composed of terrain that is inhabitable.

in this new screenshot, you can see unnamed provinces. I have these governors of nowhere.
Huh. Strange. Must be a version compatibility problem because of your saves.
If you start a new game does it do the same?
This is a new game. I even erased and started over.
I found the culprit. Its the Timeline Extension for INR - Invictus mod. I had to disable and re-enable the mods one by one.
You have other mods activated. Go to each of the mod workshop pages, check they are compatible with the latest Invictus. I think you have the INR Invictus mod activated, which currently is not compatible with Invictus 1.11

On another note, its freaking amazing that they added these oasis tribes in the time that I've been gone from the game
