Many years ago, before four-door pickups were a thing, there was a company called Centurion that cut down Econoline vans to create a comfortable five-person vehicle you could tow a fifth wheel with. They were more elegantly done than this but the concept was similar.
I wonder if the dually vans were preferred for those conversions.
It's funny, I saw one about three weeks ago and said it was uncommon to see dually vans. Less than two weeks later, I see another dually van from a different manufacturer.
That chop job is something…is it fully enclosed where it was cut in half or is it partially open? It looks like they are camping there since the tent/bed thing in the back is out. Imagine hanging out in that thing sitting at that angle.
i meeeeean, i don’t see too much tongue weight, safety chains are on. besides all the random unsecured crap on the back of the camper it seems fine? I wouldn’t trust a fifth wheel on that for second tho
The hitch is a little high, I'd put a dropped receiver on it. Other than that, no notes. As far as the 5th wheel, if it's properly bolted to the frame it should be fine.

They are still around.

I mean, it's a dually, and it looks like it might even have 19.5's on it, so MDT running gear.
Campers don't weigh all that much.
Buy a drop hitch to level out the camper and run it.

They would drive around with both sleeping flaps down too. It was wild.
That’s not a fifth wheel. That is a bumper pulled camper that is way too tongue high, that is hitched to what looks like a monstrosity.
