This is from the in-between pink, brass, and seafoam period during 88-91, as decorated by your divorced, empty-nester aunt who was actually your mom's friend from vocational school back in 1972.
The bedrooms all have white wall-to-wall with vacuum patterns like a major league outfield, and in the powder room there's a dish of 17 different soaps shaped like various sea shells that you are under no circumstances supposed to use as soap; they are for decoration only.
Not that it really matters (bc money DEF doesn’t buy taste), but this person says (in orig. post) that they got most of this very cheap or free. I like some of the individual pieces, but the full collection is overwhelming!!
Kinda nice to see this motif in a maintained and clean space. I'm of an age group where I've been in houses (and often condos for some reason) that have this esthetic and specific time period of furnishings but by the time I saw the place it was dusty and usually smelled of cigarettes and some of the dust is clumpy because the dust mixed with smoke. Whoever lives(d) there had been of a diminished capacity for a little bit. So when I see this type of stuff I've always associated it with trash because i've never seen it in the context of a clean and organized space. Not my kind of thing but I give props to the person for representing it with respect and elevation.
the lotus lamps can sell for up to 5k each. given the amount this person has, i get the feeling that they have money to hire a housekeeper to clean this place LOL. i love this house. horrible to clean but worth it
Ok, but those flower lamps are lit though!
A few of these things individually are pretty cool, I also like some of the mirrors for example. It’s just too many things!
Too many things who only have their decade in common. A faithful recreation of a poorly decorated house - from the 80’s!
Yes. Gimme.
Right? They're so pretty!
I've been searching for a lotus lamp like that for years, guess this person bought them all
*Hoarded
This house was decorated by sentient cocaine.
It's the medium place
I got anxiety looking at this
this house looks like what having a sensory overload meltown feels like
I think I got one looking at it
Yes 80s stuff, but 80s aesthetic was much less stuff
This is TOO much
And also somehow too little at the same time, with the bare white walls and pale floors.
It looks like storage or display. There are no personal items, does not look like a lived-in home at all
Yes, it looks like an antique mall with crap jammed everywhere all over the place, but 80s themed. I like the stuff but it is way way too much
Could be a child free/pet free house.
Alone with their things
Some people be like that. I personally have four monsters lol this house would be ground zero in a half hour flat.
Yeah, like when I think 80s I think neon Memphis-Milano furniture, not sad washed out colours :/
I was gonna ask if it's in Florida

You’re right
Compressor and air, bam it's dusted lol
Holy fuck. Now I want 3 taco bell tacos for a dollar
This room is giving liminal space
Miami eighties trapped in this apartment.
My biggest objection is the cool toned lighting. If you’re going to commit to the bit with the decor at least use warm toned lighting bulbs
warm tones and/or soft neon/colored LEDs would improve it so much. that and getting rid of about 70% of the stuff.
I love this style but this just goes to show money can’t buy taste. I’m no longer sad about not being able to afford everything I want.

So a hoarder then lol

You would have to dust and polish daily and still no one with asthma could visit
r/toomuchshit
This feels very 1980s.
Original title: "My Vintage 1980s Home"...
Man I wish I had that much coke
Somebody ordered the entire Home Interiors catalog
So much post modern😍 It's excessive, could be done so much better, but I'm in love with some of this stuff.
This reminds me of Demi Moore's apartment in St Elmo's Fire.
Oh maximalist! I love the aesthetic (reminds me of my family).
Those masks just unlocked a memory from one of my childhood friends home ha
This house smells like Aquanet Hairspray.
My toddler would have all this on the ground in 4 minutes
It’s gorgeous
