Hell no, the soft upholstered seats were so fucking comfortable. My mom had an ‘84 LeBaron (cheaper model than the 5th Avenue) and it had non-pillow velour-cushioned seats. God they were the best.
We had a Chrysler New Yorker & goodness the chocolate that was stuck in those seats was crazy. My dad smoked when he drove so there were cherry burn marks on the back seats....
Because they were so awful with their car is probably why I'm so anal with mine. 😂
So now, my home AND my car are immaculate 90% of the time. My parents used to make me clean their cars. My mom's car was the only car that I ever found ants in..... Because she would eat in the car all the time because she worked so much, bless her soul. She would drop a french fry or something and sure enough and will find a way.
Because of that I don't eat in my vehicles & make sure I wash/clean them at least once every 2 weeks.
Don't you dare forget the Werther's!! Yeah, it melted a little bit but once you scrape all the wrapper off...good as new!! Nothing like car seat candy, bb!
I too, am into this. But it would have to be in a “weekend” car. I agree that this would be a pain in the ass to clean, but by God those seats look SOOOO comfy
Explorer conversions make luxury coach built full size vans. I'm looking at getting a 9 seat 2500 express van. It's probably one of the last places you can get an actually comfy luxury vehicle, as "luxury" vehicles these days just come with leather racing buckets lol.
just put a seat cover on it, man. i already drive a manual and the uncomfy seats mean my ass is numb AND my leg hurts by the end of a long drive. i’d do anything for a cushiony seat 😭
My Nana’s a car in the early 80’s had velvety cushioned seats. They were soft and plush, really comfy to ride in. I’d love to see them make a comeback.
I had an acquaintance in college who had these as garage seating and they were actually amazing - iirc he pulled them out at a scrap yard. It was obviously not the fanciest setup, but who cares, it was in a garage, and they were super comfortable!

They were, but they’d always have lint and grandma’s Luden’s wrappers in those little cushions!

Ha, my dad is anal with his car and mine is a rolling rumpus room.
My house growing up? Immaculate.
My parents cars? Disgusting.

PTSD is real. Lol

Oh, I am into this.

They are like sofas!
This car was so fucking awesome. My aunt had one & it was such a great car. Her version had leather interior though.
IIRC it was what we used to call a "cloud ride." You couldn't feel a bump or even a pebble you drove over.
Where I grew up we called them shark cars, cuz the frill on the side was like gills, and because they glided like a shark when driving!
They are going to act as sponges and absorb a ton of cigarette smoke.
I can still smell grandma’s Eve lights
Only if you smoke 🤷🏻♀️
I can smell the puff of smoke that happens when someone sits down
I need this. I'm looking at explorer conversions right now because I need something more comfy than my Yukon.
makecarscomfyagain.
Do they make plushy washable seat covers? I’d be down (heh!) for that
Idk, but sure someone does.

My dad slipped while holding a coffee. There was a line of coffee on the ceiling of that car until the day it was scrapped.
What about rich Corinthian leather?
Corinth is famous for it’s leather!

It's like a goddamn living room on wheels. God I miss when they made good cars
You’d be lucky to get to 100k miles with that car.
Guaranteed to give you a wedgie every time.

I’m in support! I’m sick of uncomfortable car seats! Bring back the rolling couches!!
A nightmare
Meh, a vacuume will do the job of cleaning it just fine
Kaaaahn!
Not a huge fan of NYC, but if the Chrysler building is on fifth ave that’s cool

if it's not fine Corinthian leather, then GTFO
Like driving a couch
Oh the smell of cigarettes, farts and death(old people)…flash back!
Edit- grammar is important.
Why is the bad guy from Naked Gun driving this?
I could easily be wrong but they look like they come off.
